I moved to Skegness just before lockdown. Come here for the weekend with the kids and I'm sure you'll have a nice time. Having lived here I can tell you it's an absolute shit hole.

Back from work!!! Big tv on and a bit of GenX - loving all the mobility scooters! Looks like many a 2p falls in there. To be fair it looks alright! Clock tower looks like rhyl!! Don’t know why the place reminds me of Southport! Jill that was Jurassic park and not E.T. The beach does seem quite far away. But it’s a stunning beach. Mmmm sea does look a bit brown! Yes 2p arcade games! Definitely reminds me of Southport. Some of the architecture is a bit brutal, but on the whole it looks like a charming place. Diavola is always our go to pizza. Yes guys with the V/O - welcome to the V/O world! We’d definitely visit there. Great review guys, you did the place proud! Cheers 🍻
good spot guys, its very similar to Southport, a lot of people claim its the Blackpool of the East but it’s definitely way more comparable to Southport! The 2p arcade slots are great fun but we learnt from our trip to Whitby not to play too long, we only spent 10p and we were there an hour! as soon as that piggy started dishing out money we were off! yes just have to get the balance right. the BGM in the restaurant was a concern although it is over 70 years old which i think is the cut off for copyright. we will be doing a LOT more food and V/O in these coming months. think the answer will be keeping quiet and doing slow gestures whilst eating with full voice over later! 👍 its still a learning process for us! ♥️ 🍻 thanks for watching and wonderful comment
Had to watch this on my phone, as our 3 year old grandson is stopping overnight. I remember 'bracing' Skegness very well as we had 2 back to back holidays there 38 years ago. A lot seems to have changed but I would say for the better, as what you showed looked very good and the food looked amazing at that Italian. If Mrs Metalman was not in bed I would be on the phone to the local pizza for a 16 inch BBQ chicken pizza with 10 inch garlic bread. We never went back after I got stuck in the mud, which was covered by a massive pool on the beach and I started to sink (long story) but that apart, I have fond memories of Skeggy. that sounds amazing Alan. well growing up in Blackpool a lot of my mates went to Skegness because they wanted that home from home holiday experience! i always came to Scarborough, wanted that more family high brow experience, but my mates always swore by this place. they would come back with smiles from ear to ear and amazing stories. track forward twenty/thirty years Skegness is legendary for being the WORST seaside resort with possibly the WORST crime rates in the country. i had to know more, at any cost. im definitely not adverse to any unpleasantness its a part of my skin, like water off a ducks back. but hand on heart, this place is a gem, we stuck around until the evening and genuinely did interview the locals. they were all off their nut and exceptionally happy to be so. it was genuinely lovely to see. i wont make that footage film, they are all darlings and great to speak to. the love that came across for their home town was MASSIVE. we will venture back and maybe do it better justice. our first time and we loved it. we can name at least thirty seaside towns, top of our heads, that need to be making lists. SKEGNESS ROCKS ♥️
Good old Skeggy! I haven't been there for years. I remember going to Butlins there as a young child (now that was a long ago! 😂) Whoever gave Skeggy that rating?? It looks like a fabulous little seaside town. I loved the way you both introduced each part of the resort and then did the big reveal - and with such genuine enthusiasm. thats a very good point Dave, sensationalism does sell. id like to know more about this National Survey which puts a place like this at the bottom of the list. the Pier reminded me of a couple we visited on the PCH especially the view as you turn around from the end of it. is it a British thing, we are so predictable, you make a good point though in Italy ive only ever seen fries offered as a side, never chips, that must be very British! 😂 have an awesome day, catch you on yours soon ♥️🇺🇸
I thought Skegness was quite nice and not as bad as people think. Like the way you have put your names up on the screen in this and the captions on screen too😃 I liked the beach but then I like all beaches. Love beach donkeys too and the pizza looked great. In spain 🇪🇸 loved this my 👯.The energy and the way this was done again like the last alot love and hard work has gone into this and it shows.I like the way you are taking the channel.On the skegness front,i am a sometime moderator on butlers empire,and they got upset about the papers saying about skeggy as they live down the road.As i told them take it with a pinch of salt,the same paper 3 months before was saying how lovely it is there??.Anyway only advice i would give,is never shy away from sometimes saying the other side,of the coin ,it does have a bad migrant problem,and a dark side,like alot places do.sorry waffleing debs xx 🇪🇸 ⛺
oh wow, id love to be back in Spain, we went there every year for six years and drove every inch of it. really want to revisit soon. Asturias became our favourite part. yes we did, after the fact, find out about the migrant problem and a nice chap on these comments came forward and said how he was forced to move away from there. we visited on a saturday afternoon near the height of the season so everything was really peachy. i can imagine it must be very different for the locals who live their through the winters. have fun in spain ♥️ 🇪🇸
yeah thats pretty good to be fair and they all seemed really reasonable and the aquarium had some sort of annual pass going for locals which i thought was really nice as its probably the only thing open in the winter.

I wonder if it is down to the unfortunate name - Skegness? It might mean something innocent but it sounds as bad as Skankville or Scraggberg or something. 😁 Sorry Skeggers. But otherwise it looks like a typical British seaside resort. ie. totally unappealing. 😂 Great report though. I wouldn't mind some of that pizza too.
I had never heard of Skegness before! Minigolf and an aquarium? Definitely thumbs up! That looks like fun :) Paddle boating looks so fun out there on the water. It really does look like a great place! Lovely beach too, the brown frothy stuff happens to our beaches sometimes too lol. LOL at making you want a frothy coffee hehe, you two always crack me up. Some fun little touristy games and attractions too! Oooh and bumper cars and rides! Wow so much crazy golf! Mmmm pizza! Now you are making me so hungry! Definitely look like a great spot despite being the worst rated, but you two make EVERYTHING so fun and I love it!! :)
I'd go for the aquarium for sure! Wide and great sea beach as far as I'm concerned. Hmmm...makes me wonder who is doing the rating and for what nefarious purposes.... Looks like there is plenty to see and do if gambling is not one's thing. What? No leftover pizza for poor 'ol Otis...he is drooling at my side! lol Did we miss the ice cream?! oh sorry Otis, i would have saved you a slice or bought you some banana type dessert! yes i might investigate the rating system. it was a national survey but who gave the ratings? i can think of several resorts from the top of my head that are far worse and in our mind a seaside resort should be rated solely on the amount of things to do there. i did look for the ice cream, we had written down the two top rated ice cream shops in the town but could not find either one. have an awesome weekend ♥️🐕
Viva Las Skeggy has had the official GEN-X stamp. LOVED IT. I've never been there so it was good to see around the sights and the Highstreet - i've heard all sorts about the town being run down, but i think for a sea side resort i think it's still got plenty to offer to those visiting. Who doesn't love crazy golf and an aquarium! The boating lake looked really nice! and the waterfall what a nice touch! Great video, really enjoyed it! x
Well all I can say is that you two did a great job You made Skeggy a lot better than we remember it. Apart from the Scummy sea seems to be even more scummy 😃 But seriously, looks to have improved dramatically since the 80’s Not a patch on Scarborough or my hometown Brighton though. i was really concerned about the sea and all that brown froth so we checked the Environmental rating and its actually classed as “excellent”. was a fun day out, think we would be happy to spend a few days there and check out more of the activities. thanks for kind words Dave 👍
Apart from the gorgeous Clock Tower, lovely sandy beach and electric bumper cars, there is not much else unless you like Gambling! The Pizza looked delicious and I love thin based pizzas. Thank you for taking us along this unique town. Hope you guys have a great weekend.
thats a good point, i bet back in its het day in the 1890s to 1920s it would have retained some lovely architecture, all of which now replaces with casinos and bookies. the Pizza was incredible, very authentic Italian style! have an awesome weekend! ♥️ 🇦🇺

it actually didn't look too bad. I was a bit skeptical of the brown foam coming from the waves. LOL. The pizzas actually made me drool from my mouth guys. The Skeg Vegas sign was awesome to see too.

thanks Christine, we’d never been before so didn’t know what to expect, all we knew about the place was that it is allegedly the worst seaside town in the UK and the crime rates were staggeringly high. we felt very safe all day and thought the place was charming with plenty to see and do. we would happily go back! ♥️🇨🇦

Hi Nick and Jill, haven't been to Skegness for a little while, but it didn't look that bad to me. Really enjoyed the walk around, the sea has always been a bit frothy I think, i think its an algae myself. Loved the visit to the dinosaur and the boating lake looked good. You were lucky the sea was quite a way in, sometimes you cant see it ha ha , love the donkeys. The Italian restaurant sounds good. thank you Ervin, we really didn’t know what to expect other than its the worst rated and had one of the highest crime rates in the country with one in five being a victim of a serious crime. had we seen anything we would have honestly filmed it and shown it. the place was delightful and we felt a lot safer there than in many places that we visit more frequently. we would definitely return to cover more of it at some point. thank you for your kind words 👍
Brilliant...i have not been to Skeggy for years, but after watching this i feel a visit is on the cards...surely the worst seaside town goes to Cleethorpes...fat people, greasy chips and rundown shops and facillities
Ngl. I'm not into bandwagoning, etc. I think Skeggy has charm, it's not 100% chav central....although. I will admit that last time I had been, I had more than one pretty bad experience. I went in September, which I know was off-season, but it was clear a lot of food places cut staffing or ingredient quality off-season....because I had a few pre prepared meals nuked in the microwaved and served with the cheese bubbling while being charged more then weatherspoons...was dead too, so kitchen wasn't rushed. Also had a few gypsy scammers around and gangs of chavvy kids snooping around caravan spots. On season I bet it runs well...but off season you have to be weary

Thanks for a great review we totally agree Skegness is a great place to visit. We go quite often although mainly out of season and think it's a great day out. Mablethorpe just up the coast is also worth a look although much quieter it has an amazing beech and sand dunes. Hope you are having a great weekend 👍

oh thats a really great point Bogi. I don’t think locals should be able to vote. obviously they see a side of the place tourists dont get to see. the problems they might encounter in the winter when everything is closed is vastly different to what we experienced during the season! 👍

Not sure I can say I've ever been to a seaside resort but it seems to have everything I could want! Even foamy beach froth to stimulate the appetite! The Italian restaurant looked great to eat at. Maybe it's a marketing strategy to be a best kept secret? Great tour you two!

Well that was the best worst place I have ever seen. I used to enjoy a bit of crazy golf and pitch n putt. You really sold it to me but I have to admit the pizza, chips and beer lured me the most 👍
Looked good to me lots to see and do there. The Sandy beach looked really nice even if there were a few little stones. Absolutely right Matthew, if I was bringing up a family and wanted to take them to the seaside I couldn’t go far wrong than take them to Skegness. So much for a full family to see and enjoy together from the traditional to the modern. I think the which survey is a bit up its own you know what to call this the worst place and Bamburgh in Northumberland the best is utter BS. neither place could be further from those accolades.

Hi Seeing the title of this video I awaited it with apprehension. I was born in Lincolnshire & lived there until moving to Cumbria aged 19, so this was my local resort & I was hoping you were going to be kind 🤗. I need not have worried 😁 I spent many happy hours on the beach there in my younger days with lots of my family though to be fair it was more often just down the coast at Chapel St Leonard's where the sand was much nicer. It was a day on th beach followed by afternoon tea at Bonnets cafe or if my grandad was paying , the County Hotel 😆 A real traditional seaside resort , you showed off the town in it's true form and I agree while not the kind of place I rush to these days I think it's not as bad as some haha The clock tower is always great to see and the pier also ( been to the night club there a few times 😆)Shame the gardens need a bit of TIC, I do return to Lincolnshire every 6 weeks or so but a while since I've been to Skeggy ... it's so bracing 🤣😃I must make the effort to fit in a trip there, though in reality it's more likely to be just on the outskirts to Gibraltar point where there is a nature reserve and the chance of some solitude 😊

I have recently moved from Skegness. In the winter it is extremely quiet. A lot of the hotel owners go to their second homes in the Algarve to recover after the hectic summer. In the summer the population explodes to over 100000, well up from the 20000 permanent inhabitants. Most of the influx are ok but a large numbers are just beer driven thugs who ruin it for everyone. I note that no mention was made of the immigrants who are destroying a lovely old town. Skeggy is great for a day, if the sun is out but to live there now, with the issues it has ,is a massive no no for me and my family...
Ah Paul I can only sympathise with this, we grew up in Blackpool and faced the exact same thing with all the hotel and business owners shutting up shop and spending the winters in the Algarve leaving the town desolate. not only that most of the locals only work in the summer so claim benefits all winter and as you can imagine the crime rate goes through the roof. funny you should mention the immigrants, i was going to opt for a really click bait thumbnail and was searching for anything boarded up, it was easy to find as the locals were being forced to board up hotels to try to prevent them from being turned into HMO’s for immigrants. this happened in Blackpool back in the 90s (i had to move away for the same reasons Paul) and places being used to house immigrants is happening all over, particularly in seaside resorts where hotels are empty for half the year. we went last Saturday and honestly didn’t know what to expect. we were very pleased and had a lovely time and unlike other seaside resorts we’ve visited lately we felt safe all day. could have been luck i suppose. we’d go again but thank you so much for the comment and your insight, its exceptionally helpful and if we go back we’ll be sure to pay closer attention to these things! 👍

Loved the start of Skegness Hight Street which featured an outstanding Costa. Liked the Clock Tower but would have liked a visit inside. That dinosaur looked plastic to me. The frothing sea is a natural phenomenon in the seas all around the world. It’s cause by various minerals etc crashing and mixing with rocks and raw sewage. It won’t do you any harm unless you ingest it. Skeggy Pier looked lovely but would have liked to have seen more of that gymnast. First time in the restaurant that I’ve ever seen Nick without a hat on, yes can fully understand why he keeps it on. Can’t believe you both ate all that pizza and crispy chips! Hey Gill and Nick, I was interested to see your view of Skeg as I don't understand why it is rated worse, as there are way worse. For this type of seaside resort, I think it does it really well. We went there for a visit last month, although on a quiet day, so no donkeys and the fair was closed, so I'm just in the middle of editing mine! Love the Jurassic Park tune Jill lol. It looks like you had a fun day and lunch looked lovely and was a bargain!!

I don't understand, why it's rated the worst in the UK. It looks like there are a lot of different shops, and the place is not crowded with people. The beach looks fantastic with plenty of space. The amusement area doesn't look too crowded either. To me this looks like an amazing place to spend the day.

Ive never been to Weston, i imagine its way more fun than the ratings suggest! It will be our fourth trip to Como we adore it there! Not been for three years so super excited to get back there. We’ll definitely look into a Florence trip and i’ll almost certainly do a Villa this time 👍
1000% Como Simon. Its a lot smaller and has way more character and mountains. Maggiore was very nice though but its vast and the fact that a lot of it is in Switzerland wasn’t the bonus we thought it would be, Switzerland is just way too expensive to justify spending time in when Italy is so reasonable. The west shore of Como backs onto Switzerland so you can easily hike in and out of it. Looking out across Maggiore is like looking out to sea, whereas in Como you can always see the other side of the Lake clearly which just makes it so much more magical. Ive yet to try Garda but that is supposed to be even bigger so given my feelings towards Maggiore i will probably give it a miss. There are several much smaller lakes in the North that are supposed to be hidden gems, we’ll be trying those before visiting Garda. 👍
Boo loved this one as it is close to my heart.as my sister lives just outside skegness and have had many great times there on my visits .you captured its real great seaside vibe brilliantly and i think why some people rate it as worse seaside resort is just inverted snobbery that some people just seem to have.loving these new style holiday vlogs and look forward to next one have great weekendxx

I hadn’t googled beforehand and thought the brown colour and the froth was very questionable. it turns out on the Environmental Website which tests all our waters each and every month, Skegness never falls below “excellent”, perfectly safe. just as well as im sure Jill never washes her feet! 😂😂

It's sad when anything is rated 'the worst', I was just in Norfolk and was driving up to the Midlands to stay with some friends and was going to stop in Skegness on the way up. (I know it's not on the way but I like seaside towns and had heard of it, nothing negative though) Unfortunately we ran out of time as we got lost in King's Lynn looking for a petrol station! Why are petrol stations so hard to find in the UK?!!! From your video Skegness looks like a nice seaside town, it might not have soft sand but has huge beaches. Living in Australia I think pebble beaches like Brighton are heavily over-rated! So uncomfortable to walk on!

@@MagentaOtterTravels Mansfield, just north of Nottingham.(I think that's east Midlands?) I didn't do any filming as I just spent time with friends I hadn't seen in 4 years they live there. Norfolk was the 'explore a new part of the UK' part of the trip. I should have a video out sometime in the next year! I don't know how people travel, socialise and produce travel videos, It seems I can only do it when I'm home and not busy!

I moved to Skegness just before lockdown. Come here for the weekend with the kids and I'm sure you'll have a nice time. Having lived here I can tell you it's an absolute shit hole.

Back from work!!! Big tv on and a bit of GenX - loving all the mobility scooters! Looks like many a 2p falls in there. To be fair it looks alright! Clock tower looks like rhyl!! Don’t know why the place reminds me of Southport! Jill that was Jurassic park and not E.T. The beach does seem quite far away. But it’s a stunning beach. Mmmm sea does look a bit brown! Yes 2p arcade games! Definitely reminds me of Southport. Some of the architecture is a bit brutal, but on the whole it looks like a charming place. Diavola is always our go to pizza. Yes guys with the V/O - welcome to the V/O world! We’d definitely visit there. Great review guys, you did the place proud! Cheers 🍻
good spot guys, its very similar to Southport, a lot of people claim its the Blackpool of the East but it’s definitely way more comparable to Southport! The 2p arcade slots are great fun but we learnt from our trip to Whitby not to play too long, we only spent 10p and we were there an hour! as soon as that piggy started dishing out money we were off! yes just have to get the balance right. the BGM in the restaurant was a concern although it is over 70 years old which i think is the cut off for copyright. we will be doing a LOT more food and V/O in these coming months. think the answer will be keeping quiet and doing slow gestures whilst eating with full voice over later! 👍 its still a learning process for us! ♥️ 🍻 thanks for watching and wonderful comment
Had to watch this on my phone, as our 3 year old grandson is stopping overnight. I remember 'bracing' Skegness very well as we had 2 back to back holidays there 38 years ago. A lot seems to have changed but I would say for the better, as what you showed looked very good and the food looked amazing at that Italian. If Mrs Metalman was not in bed I would be on the phone to the local pizza for a 16 inch BBQ chicken pizza with 10 inch garlic bread. We never went back after I got stuck in the mud, which was covered by a massive pool on the beach and I started to sink (long story) but that apart, I have fond memories of Skeggy. that sounds amazing Alan. well growing up in Blackpool a lot of my mates went to Skegness because they wanted that home from home holiday experience! i always came to Scarborough, wanted that more family high brow experience, but my mates always swore by this place. they would come back with smiles from ear to ear and amazing stories. track forward twenty/thirty years Skegness is legendary for being the WORST seaside resort with possibly the WORST crime rates in the country. i had to know more, at any cost. im definitely not adverse to any unpleasantness its a part of my skin, like water off a ducks back. but hand on heart, this place is a gem, we stuck around until the evening and genuinely did interview the locals. they were all off their nut and exceptionally happy to be so. it was genuinely lovely to see. i wont make that footage film, they are all darlings and great to speak to. the love that came across for their home town was MASSIVE. we will venture back and maybe do it better justice. our first time and we loved it. we can name at least thirty seaside towns, top of our heads, that need to be making lists. SKEGNESS ROCKS ♥️

Good old Skeggy! I haven't been there for years. I remember going to Butlins there as a young child (now that was a long ago! 😂) Whoever gave Skeggy that rating?? It looks like a fabulous little seaside town. I loved the way you both introduced each part of the resort and then did the big reveal - and with such genuine enthusiasm. I thought Skegness was quite nice and not as bad as people think. Like the way you have put your names up on the screen in this and the captions on screen too😃 I liked the beach but then I like all beaches. Love beach donkeys too and the pizza looked great. In spain 🇪🇸 loved this my 👯.The energy and the way this was done again like the last alot love and hard work has gone into this and it shows.I like the way you are taking the channel.On the skegness front,i am a sometime moderator on butlers empire,and they got upset about the papers saying about skeggy as they live down the road.As i told them take it with a pinch of salt,the same paper 3 months before was saying how lovely it is there??.Anyway only advice i would give,is never shy away from sometimes saying the other side,of the coin ,it does have a bad migrant problem,and a dark side,like alot places do.sorry waffleing debs xx 🇪🇸 ⛺
oh wow, id love to be back in Spain, we went there every year for six years and drove every inch of it. really want to revisit soon. Asturias became our favourite part. yes we did, after the fact, find out about the migrant problem and a nice chap on these comments came forward and said how he was forced to move away from there. we visited on a saturday afternoon near the height of the season so everything was really peachy. i can imagine it must be very different for the locals who live their through the winters. have fun in spain ♥️ 🇪🇸

yeah thats pretty good to be fair and they all seemed really reasonable and the aquarium had some sort of annual pass going for locals which i thought was really nice as its probably the only thing open in the winter.

I wonder if it is down to the unfortunate name - Skegness? It might mean something innocent but it sounds as bad as Skankville or Scraggberg or something. 😁 Sorry Skeggers. But otherwise it looks like a typical British seaside resort. ie. totally unappealing. 😂

I had never heard of Skegness before! Minigolf and an aquarium? Definitely thumbs up! That looks like fun :) Paddle boating looks so fun out there on the water. It really does look like a great place! Lovely beach too, the brown frothy stuff happens to our beaches sometimes too lol. LOL at making you want a frothy coffee hehe, you two always crack me up. Some fun little touristy games and attractions too! Oooh and bumper cars and rides! Wow so much crazy golf! Mmmm pizza! Now you are making me so hungry! Definitely look like a great spot despite being the worst rated, but you two make EVERYTHING so fun and I love it!! :)

I'd go for the aquarium for sure! Wide and great sea beach as far as I'm concerned. Hmmm...makes me wonder who is doing the rating and for what nefarious purposes.... oh sorry Otis, i would have saved you a slice or bought you some banana type dessert! yes i might investigate the rating system. it was a national survey but who gave the ratings? i can think of several resorts from the top of my head that are far worse and in our mind a seaside resort should be rated solely on the amount of things to do there. i did look for the ice cream, we had written down the two top rated ice cream shops in the town but could not find either one. have an awesome weekend ♥️🐕
Viva Las Skeggy has had the official GEN-X stamp. LOVED IT. I've never been there so it was good to see around the sights and the Highstreet - i've heard all sorts about the town being run down, but i think for a sea side resort i think it's still got plenty to offer to those visiting. Who doesn't love crazy golf and an aquarium! The boating lake looked really nice! and the waterfall what a nice touch! Great video, really enjoyed it! x

Apart from the gorgeous Clock Tower, lovely sandy beach and electric bumper cars, there is not much else unless you like Gambling! The Pizza looked delicious and I love thin based pizzas. Thank you for taking us along this unique town. Hope you guys have a great weekend.
thats a good point, i bet back in its het day in the 1890s to 1920s it would have retained some lovely architecture, all of which now replaces with casinos and bookies. the Pizza was incredible, very authentic Italian style! have an awesome weekend! ♥️ 🇦🇺

it actually didn't look too bad. I was a bit skeptical of the brown foam coming from the waves. LOL. The pizzas actually made me drool from my mouth guys. The Skeg Vegas sign was awesome to see too.

thanks Christine, we’d never been before so didn’t know what to expect, all we knew about the place was that it is allegedly the worst seaside town in the UK and the crime rates were staggeringly high. we felt very safe all day and thought the place was charming with plenty to see and do. we would happily go back! ♥️🇨🇦

Hi Nick and Jill, haven't been to Skegness for a little while, but it didn't look that bad to me. Really enjoyed the walk around, the sea has always been a bit frothy I think, i think its an algae myself. Loved the visit to the dinosaur and the boating lake looked good. You were lucky the sea was quite a way in, sometimes you cant see it ha ha , love the donkeys. The Italian restaurant sounds good. thank you Ervin, we really didn’t know what to expect other than its the worst rated and had one of the highest crime rates in the country with one in five being a victim of a serious crime. had we seen anything we would have honestly filmed it and shown it. the place was delightful and we felt a lot safer there than in many places that we visit more frequently. we would definitely return to cover more of it at some point. thank you for your kind words 👍
Brilliant...i have not been to Skeggy for years, but after watching this i feel a visit is on the cards...surely the worst seaside town goes to Cleethorpes...fat people, greasy chips and rundown shops and facillities

I think Skeggy has charm, it's not 100% chav central....although. I will admit that last time I had been, I had more than one pretty bad experience. I went in September, which I know was off-season, but it was clear a lot of food places cut staffing or ingredient quality off-season....because I had a few pre prepared meals nuked in the microwaved and served with the cheese bubbling while being charged more then weatherspoons...was dead too, so kitchen wasn't rushed.
Also had a few gypsy scammers around and gangs of chavvy kids snooping around caravan spots.
On season I bet it runs well...but off season you have to be weary

oh thats a really great point Bogi. I don’t think locals should be able to vote. obviously they see a side of the place tourists dont get to see. the problems they might encounter in the winter when everything is closed is vastly different to what we experienced during the season! 👍

Well that was the best worst place I have ever seen. I used to enjoy a bit of crazy golf and pitch n putt. You really sold it to me but I have to admit the pizza, chips and beer lured me the most 👍

Looked good to me lots to see and do there. The Sandy beach looked really nice even if there were a few little stones. Absolutely right Matthew, if I was bringing up a family and wanted to take them to the seaside I couldn’t go far wrong than take them to Skegness. So much for a full family to see and enjoy together from the traditional to the modern. I think the which survey is a bit up its own you know what to call this the worst place and Bamburgh in Northumberland the best is utter BS. neither place could be further from those accolades.

Hi Seeing the title of this video I awaited it with apprehension. I was born in Lincolnshire & lived there until moving to Cumbria aged 19, so this was my local resort & I was hoping you were going to be kind 🤗. I need not have worried 😁 I spent many happy hours on the beach there in my younger days with lots of my family though to be fair it was more often just down the coast at Chapel St Leonard's where the sand was much nicer. It was a day on th beach followed by afternoon tea at Bonnets cafe or if my grandad was paying , the County Hotel 😆 A real traditional seaside resort , you showed off the town in it's true form and I agree while not the kind of place I rush to these days I think it's not as bad as some haha The clock tower is always great to see and the pier also ( been to the night club there a few times 😆)Shame the gardens need a bit of TIC, I do return to Lincolnshire every 6 weeks or so but a while since I've been to Skeggy ... it's so bracing 🤣😃I must make the effort to fit in a trip there, though in reality it's more likely to be just on the outskirts to Gibraltar point where there is a nature reserve and the chance of some solitude 😊
wow Christine, can understand more greatly know why we are so simpatico. would have loved to grow up here, the place is amazing, i grew up in Blackpool and until this day it garners the same type of flack. we don’t get it. both places are amazing. we do meed to revisit Skegness and see all its amazing natural beauty x
I have recently moved from Skegness. In the winter it is extremely quiet. A lot of the hotel owners go to their second homes in the Algarve to recover after the hectic summer. In the summer the population explodes to over 100000, well up from the 20000 permanent inhabitants. Most of the influx are ok but a large numbers are just beer driven thugs who ruin it for everyone. I note that no mention was made of the immigrants who are destroying a lovely old town. Skeggy is great for a day, if the sun is out but to live there now, with the issues it has ,is a massive no no for me and my family...
Ah Paul I can only sympathise with this, we grew up in Blackpool and faced the exact same thing with all the hotel and business owners shutting up shop and spending the winters in the Algarve leaving the town desolate. not only that most of the locals only work in the summer so claim benefits all winter and as you can imagine the crime rate goes through the roof. funny you should mention the immigrants, i was going to opt for a really click bait thumbnail and was searching for anything boarded up, it was easy to find as the locals were being forced to board up hotels to try to prevent them from being turned into HMO’s for immigrants. this happened in Blackpool back in the 90s (i had to move away for the same reasons Paul) and places being used to house immigrants is happening all over, particularly in seaside resorts where hotels are empty for half the year. we went last Saturday and honestly didn’t know what to expect. we were very pleased and had a lovely time and unlike other seaside resorts we’ve visited lately we felt safe all day. could have been luck i suppose. we’d go again but thank you so much for the comment and your insight, its exceptionally helpful and if we go back we’ll be sure to pay closer attention to these things! 👍

Loved the start of Skegness Hight Street which featured an outstanding Costa. Liked the Clock Tower but would have liked a visit inside. That dinosaur looked plastic to me. The frothing sea is a natural phenomenon in the seas all around the world. It’s cause by various minerals etc crashing and mixing with rocks and raw sewage. It won’t do you any harm unless you ingest it. Skeggy Pier looked lovely but would have liked to have seen more of that gymnast. First time in the restaurant that I’ve ever seen Nick without a hat on, yes can fully understand why he keeps it on. Can’t believe you both ate all that pizza and crispy chips! Great film Nick and Jill and I’m already impatient for nexts weeks film. Mike ❤️

Hey Gill and Nick, I was interested to see your view of Skeg as I don't understand why it is rated worse, as there are way worse. For this type of seaside resort, I think it does it really well. We went there for a visit last month, although on a quiet day, so no donkeys and the fair was closed, so I'm just in the middle of editing mine! Love the Jurassic Park tune Jill lol. It looks like you had a fun day and lunch looked lovely and was a bargain!!

I don't understand, why it's rated the worst in the UK. It looks like there are a lot of different shops, and the place is not crowded with people. The beach looks fantastic with plenty of space. The amusement area doesn't look too crowded either. To me this looks like an amazing place to spend the day.

Thanks Simon, your touring the beautiful Rome and we are slumming it in UK’s worst seaside resort, where is the justice? 😂 hopefully when we are back in Como you’ll be covering Weston Super Mare! to be fair it was a fun day with us genuinely not knowing what to expect. the people were all lovely, albeit drunk, maybe they turn nasty when they are sober and we got them on a good day (we filmed last Saturday). at any rate it left a good mark on us! have an awesome weekend! ♥️ 🥾

Ive never been to Weston, i imagine its way more fun than the ratings suggest! It will be our fourth trip to Como we adore it there! Not been for three years so super excited to get back there. We’ll definitely look into a Florence trip and i’ll almost certainly do a Villa this time 👍

1000% Como Simon. Its a lot smaller and has way more character and mountains. Maggiore was very nice though but its vast and the fact that a lot of it is in Switzerland wasn’t the bonus we thought it would be, Switzerland is just way too expensive to justify spending time in when Italy is so reasonable. The west shore of Como backs onto Switzerland so you can easily hike in and out of it. Looking out across Maggiore is like looking out to sea, whereas in Como you can always see the other side of the Lake clearly which just makes it so much more magical. Ive yet to try Garda but that is supposed to be even bigger so given my feelings towards Maggiore i will probably give it a miss. There are several much smaller lakes in the North that are supposed to be hidden gems, we’ll be trying those before visiting Garda. 👍
Boo loved this one as it is close to my heart.as my sister lives just outside skegness and have had many great times there on my visits .you captured its real great seaside vibe brilliantly and i think why some people rate it as worse seaside resort is just inverted snobbery that some people just seem to have.loving these new style holiday vlogs and look forward to next one have great weekendxx

yes i feel bad about including that to be fair. I hadn’t googled beforehand and thought the brown colour and the froth was very questionable. it turns out on the Environmental Website which tests all our waters each and every month, Skegness never falls below “excellent”, perfectly safe. just as well as im sure Jill never washes her feet! 😂😂

It's sad when anything is rated 'the worst', I was just in Norfolk and was driving up to the Midlands to stay with some friends and was going to stop in Skegness on the way up. (I know it's not on the way but I like seaside towns and had heard of it, nothing negative though) Unfortunately we ran out of time as we got lost in King's Lynn looking for a petrol station! Why are petrol stations so hard to find in the UK?!!! From your video Skegness looks like a nice seaside town, it might not have soft sand but has huge beaches. Living in Australia I think pebble beaches like Brighton are heavily over-rated! So uncomfortable to walk on!

@@MagentaOtterTravels Mansfield, just north of Nottingham.(I think that's east Midlands?) I didn't do any filming as I just spent time with friends I hadn't seen in 4 years they live there. Norfolk was the 'explore a new part of the UK' part of the trip. I should have a video out sometime in the next year! I don't know how people travel, socialise and produce travel videos, It seems I can only do it when I'm home and not busy!
