This is ridiculous, flipping 61yr old man weeping for a second time after watching a Wrighty doc! He lives in my manor, 5 min away, so we see him quite regularly and he's exactly as he is on Tv, friendly, humourous an all-around good guy. well-done Ian, proud of you man. 👏🏾
I was a young Man Utd fan at the 1990 cup final and didn’t really know who was who in football. When Ian Wright was warming up my dad told me we were in trouble if he comes on. I’ve been a fan ever since and enjoyed his career and all the goals. It’s criminal we didn’t see more of him for England.
I've always been a diehard Liverpool fan, and growing up as a kid, my bedroom walls were covered from top to bottom with posters of LFC players out of Shoot and Match. All except one space, which was dedicated to Ian Wright. Loved him then and love him now. Infectious personality and someone you're always rooting for.
I'm 57 and out of all the Arsenal players I seen come and go, his always been my absolute Arsenal Legend, I don't think even he truly knows how much he is loved by the Arsenal Fans. He was never this pompous up himself look at me. He was an absolute character. I remember being at Islington Townhall it was the FA Cup Parade, I was by the barriers where quite a few disabled kids were, I remember being really disappointed as we tried to get handshakes and autographs and the players just waved and hurried into the Townhall. Not Mr Arsenal oh! no. He leaps the Barrier and makes the point of hugging the disabled kids in their wheelchairs, I remember grabbing my chance grapping Ian's hand and saying we love you Wrighty and he shouts back love you too lol grinning from ear to ear. Not sure if thats the same year he hung the FA Cup off the Bus with scarves lol. Can also remember another time, he'd had a bad run of games, and the fans gave Ian a hard time, he went absolute bonkers and started screaming out of the changing room window at the fans, he flashed his arse at them Pmsl! Ian Wright Wright Wright Mr Arsenal Forever.
It's crazy this doesn't have more views. What a legend! And a great personality. To go through we he had to and to be as successful as he has been shows a huge amount of character.
The hard work and self doubt, and the struggle. Ian Wright you made it, self made man are always humble because the road have been so rough and painful.
Well said true!! Hey, snow flakes generation X demanding stuff for free I hope you watch this clip and learn. Life ain't easy and yeas hard work and dedication always pays off. Hats off 🙏🙏
This man is a fucking national treasure. I can't ever watch this without crying. From hearing about his childhood to Mr Pigeon, I really hope he knows just how loved he truly is in England.
Im a seventy seven year old great grandmother who used to live in England for over thirty years. I'm now retired and back in Jamaica my beautiful island. My son just sent me this about Ian and said mom you should watch this, I cried my eyes out watching it. Ian my boy I'm so proud of you. May the good lord continues to bless you and your family 🙏
I am an Indian based in India, watching this Ian Wright presentation in his own words made me cry, He is a Football legend of his own making. Honesty, Respect and Hard work that gave Ian Wright his place in English football cannot be challenged. Now as a football pundit whenever and wherever he speaks , i watch it very closely to understand whats he says and expresses about each game. Though he is totally biased and forthright about Arsenal, but the general demeanour is one of honest reaction. Well done Ian Wright- Keep the flag of honesty flying for a long time
Me too dude, and as a die Spurs fan I have to admit to getting a bit upset as the reuniting he has with his old teacher and how his voice drops as the emotions come through get me every flipping time. What a man What a player
It says a lot about Mr Pigden why Wrighty is loved so much, he instilled in him values that makes humans what they really should be, every time I see the moment when Ian takes his hat off on encountering his mentor it gets me every time! that is the amount of respect and adoration he had for that man. Wrighty is a legend to many but Mr Pigden is a legend to a legend. ❤
@@darrenrobertw Thanks buddy, didn't say it for the likes, just that it touched me to the deepest core of my heart that I felt compelled to say something, was like watching a scene from an epic movie only what made it so much more special is that is was real! have a great one 👍
You’ve got me in tears listening to Ian talk about his early life, Mr Pidgen and David Rocastle. David was My hero as an arsenal fan but I followed Ian playing alongside Mark Bright for Crystal Palace and was so excited when Ian signed for Arsenal and he didn’t disappoint and soon became my next hero. Thank you Ian for sharing this amazing life story with us. You deserve everything good that came your way ❤❤
It’s not that often you watch films, interviews and documentaries and you get very emotional inside that it brings you to tears. This got me to the core I’m not gonna lie. I kind of understood what ian went through as a kid from south London myself being of mixed race and having a passion for the game, didn’t work for me , got close but hey hoe ! Saw it so many times with lads not making it and going down a risky path. But Ian’s journey is just fairy tale, man you deserve everything you’ve fought for. Topman, always believe in yourself ………
I cried with him too. I saw the short with him and his teacher and this just showed up on feed. This is a real teacher moment. Thank God for the love of teachers and children who are willing to listen and feel the love that we share.
This beautiful man Mr. Pigden supported his students and genuinely believed in them and their dreams. I saw the clip of them reuniting as a kid and knew right then I wanted to teach. I’ll only ever be half as good as him, but that’s far more than enough
This guy was thorn in many games against my club especially at 2 cup finals in the 90’s at Wembley! However years & years later I came to like the man Ian Wright stands for & still is, complete gentleman & genuinely nice guy. (Owls 💙🦉💙 fan)
REALLY impossible to dislike you Wrighty. You were silently one of my heroes like forever mate...And I'm a Manchester united fan buddy. Just wished we could sign you always but only later on discovered your immaculate personality. Just straight love and respect for you mate. Not much else to say. May God bless you and may we have you as a pundit for 50 more years to come. Love from South Africa. 🇿🇦❤️💯😎
A wonderful human being who can stand proud at his achievements given the harsh childhood he had. For the fact he achieved so much but gave so much more back is a credit to himself. A first class human being. Respect from a Celtic fan 🏴
This is a real man. So happy to have seen him play and score so many goals. Arsenal legend, football legend, human legend. Rocky is still loved and still missed.
This man commands your attention. He’s so honest. He should go into politics. He’s so down to earth too. To say what you man and mean what you say is so refreshing. And he’s meeting with his old teacher Mr Pigden is a real tear jerker.

It was a book signing and when I joined the end of the queue a girl with a clipboard told me “mr wright is about 30mins over schedule so you may not get to see him” but he wasn’t going to leave until he’d spoken to everyone. Many of us only know Ian Wright in recent years through his punditry work. I thought this guy can express himself intelligently on TV, not knowing of his demons from growing up. Yes, his teacher got him on the « Wright » track. He is an intelligent guy who is more than just a brilliant football player. Great documentary, thank you so much.
So Moving, I always Loves Ian Wright.. such a genuine Man .. So much Respect for him .. and he Really is an inspiration and great role Model, God Bless you Ian and family 🙏🙏🙏
Diehard Leeds United fan. Ian Wright was my hero as a kid even though I was more rugby than football. The best English striker of his time. Offered something different. Fantastic bloke from everything I have seen. Should have had 40-50 more England caps. First in my team in the 90s.
I am a person who is a result of these experiences in my childhood. There’s so much that resonates with me but if anyone out there is also struggling, I have learned that as you get older, whenever you realize all the layers and facets of events, you answer parts of the questions at a time. What area is that in
The Ian Wright story needs to be made into a movie. He’s life story is so inspiring!
I really don’t think Wrighty knows how loved he is. Absolute icon.
Because everyone licks Henry's ass. He wasn't even given a statue and he's the clubs 2nd all time goalscorer. Pathetic.
