Wow, thank you for the video. Surprised the Hydro Flask site doesn't have something like this, I couldn't find it. Also, mine was GROSS! So happy I found this video so that I can get that gunk out.
There's another seal within the underside of the lid. It's clear. Take it out with a toothpick or small object. I like the small straw brushes because they usually have a coated tip that won't scratch the seal area.
Good point. Not mentioning the other seal is a pretty serious omission. If you want to get rid of bacterial growth, that seal (and what's under it) needs to be cleaned too.
I have to check this video EVERY time I want to clean the lid. Hydroflask instructions don't seem to exist. Really poor design IMO and what is the black stuff that gets left on the orange rubber? Where does it come from?
Glad the video helps! Any dark material on the silicone insert is probably mildew, mold, or residue from a drink. It's really visible on that thing because of the color difference, but it can happen on all lids if they aren't cleaned regularly, especially up in the threads or around spouts on straw lids. It's just harder to see on a lot of lids because most are black. Definitely clean it regularly to prevent buildup like this.
Thanks for the valuable instructions. I found a lot of mold inside the cap. I’m so glad I can it now. What brush do you recommend to clean well the bottom of the bottle especially those that are hard to reach inside with a regular dishwashing sponge.
After cleaning, when i reattach the plunger it’s tight. Then when I attach the top potion of the lid, the plunger loosens and the hydro flask leaks. Any suggestions “
Sorry it's not working. If you're following the steps in the video and it's still not coming apart, then there might be some kind of defect with the lid. I haven't personally seen any issues like that, but I've only used the one Flex Sip we have. Maybe reach out to Hydro Flask to see if they have any more info or have heard from other customers with similar issues.

True, in some ways they're a pain because it takes so many steps and there are a lot of pieces. But I definitely appreciate the engineering they put into the lid to make it possible to clean all the nooks and crannies, even if it ultimately takes a few steps!
Thanks for the video! Got a new hydro flask I wasn’t familiar with in Japan, and I couldn’t figure out for the life of me what the leak blocker was for. The instructions the bottle came with so minimal and didn’t explain well 🫠
Thank you! I hadn't used my Flex Sip in ages, because I couldn't figure out how to take it apart. Now it's back in action.
Glad the video helped!

Thank you for sharing! Super simple and to the point! Very much appreciated!
EXACTLY what I needed...
Great, glad the video helped!
This was a huge help, thanks so much!
What's the use of the plunger?

❤❤ I tried for 15 mins and failed..thanks for this video
Thank you! I lost the paper that had the instructions.😅
Thanks 🙏
You’re awesome. Thanx. I threw the instructions away. ☠️
Thank you!! Super helpful.
Glad it helped!

Mine does that too. So frustrating cause the video makes it look easy.
U forgot the gasket that's on the lid. The clear one..
We discovered that the orange seal is NOT reversable. It leaks if you put it in the wrong way.
Can you please tell me which side is facing out because mine seems to leak either way. Especially after I clean it. Thanks!
I can’t get mine to turn enough to pop off
I have the same problem! It doesn’t click and doesn’t pop off?? Help!

help mine keeps leaking😭
The orange seal is not reversible, it might be that - try flipping it the other way!
Horrible to clean!

Your directions are lacking a LOT of information, I won't use this video again.
Sorry to hear that. What did I miss?
