    Pop the steering wheel nut back on a couple of turns before pulling the wheel off. When you pull on the wheel and it pops off, the nut will stop the wheel from smacking you in the teeth. For those of us lacking your finesse...

    Your running string of steering wheel installs and tours has me wanting a Personal for my 91 Miata now. Well done old chap! Do you find the 350mm is acceptable in terms of feel for a non-depowered steering rack?

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome man. I think 350mm is just about perfect for power and depowered racks in smaller sports cars. This is the size I run in just about everything.

    get the HKS HI Power single exit exhaust, sounds great and shaves off around 15-20lbs

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the HKS is probably too loud for daily duties. Having the header and no cat, I am going to need something with good mufflers. With that said, I am looking around to see if I can find something in between. Lighter than stock, but decent enough mufflers to keep the noise levels down.

    • @edgarj4762
      @edgarj4762 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea it is a bit loud, There is a JIC Magic Full titanium exhaust for sale on Rx8Club , needs to have the inlet pipe welded where it joins the muffler.

    • @andrewmiller1540
      @andrewmiller1540 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      definitely a loud exhaust with no cat bhr midpipe but never minded daily driving and road tripping with it. I don't have headers yet but one of my next mods but I don't plan on switching exhaust anytime soon. Love how deep it is at low rpm and high pitched over 6k

    Talking about weight saving by steering wheel replacement is pretty funny when you have stock leather seats about 60-70 kgs each.

      Are you kidding? The oem seats are not that heavy, i have a complete interior seats set (front and back) in my garage, for custom rewrapping it and I can handle each seat alone with no problem at all and I'm defenetly not what you'd call a strong guy.
      They probably weight 15/20 kgs each

  • @MyiptvWorld
    @MyiptvWorld 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Ok so, $300 for the steering wheel + $200 for the hub and quick release total of $500+ and you lose the cruise control, you lose the media buttons and you lose the safety airbag that can save your life. Now you have a big ass 360mm steering wheel in a little sports car. That is a great idea!

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm sorry you seem upset by that

    • @TheSlipAngle

    Im trying to lighten my rx8 as well. So far i opted for full titanium exhaust including exhaust manifold, mazdaspeed flywheel and clutchmaster lighter clutch plate. Im in the process of replacing my pulleys and radiator as well as removing the cat.
    Im worried about the check engine light tho.

    I never understand the need for this old retro steering wheels. The old steering wheel is really nice and then you go replace it with that thing from the 1960's. Weight saving? go on a diet and head to the gym.

      Sleeper Cell it’s a personal taste that I see you don’t have. And I bet you don’t have an 8 so you’re just going to h8 ;)

      @@ghostpro1293 I'm not h8ing really. It just looks so out of place such a stylish sleek car with that wheel. I just don't get it.

      Normally I would totally agree with you that these retro style wheels work better in more retro looking interiors. I have Personal Neo Grinta's in my NB, S2000 and FD. Nardi Classico in the NA Miata. I don't know why but I woke up one day with the strange urge to put a black spoked, suede wrapped Nardi into the RX-8. It's something about the unorthodox styling of the car I think that did it for me. I can honestly say after living with it for an entire year season I don't regret it. I actually really do like it and it works for me. I like after market wheels in cars because they translate more feedback through the rack that you lose through the bigger beefier stock wheels. Plus this combo with that QR pushes the wheel close to more for a more ideal driving position for my body type. Yes there are some weight savings too which is cool. I did consider doing a wheel re-wrap with the stock wheel because I do think it is a nice wheel, just the faux leather doesn't feel the most endearing in hand. If it wasn't for the positioning thing, I probably would have just went that route.

      @@TheSlipAngle If I do get an RX8 I think i would get one of the flat bottomed steering wheels for it. I'm fairly tall. They look like they are OEM and are the same as standard steering wheels but finished in alcantara and have a flat bottom. They look pretty awesome. Try googleing RX8 flat bottomed steering wheel.
