Thanks for watching guys! Hope you have a great day.
Hope to see you at IA this weekend! Would love to meet you. Been a fan for years.
its not black enough lol it looks grey almost but its better than that shit blue one for sure!
ThatDudeinBlue Hahaha crazy
You should rename it "BLEWJZ"
You know they make steering wheel pullers right?
Hey David, if you want to get rid of the 2JZ block I wouldn't mind taking it off your hands. Been wanting to make a coffee table out of an I6 engine block for a while now. :)
PDylanW top gear style nice
Exactly what inspired me. Won't be as cool as their Jag V12 table though haha
Those iron blocks are heavy as hell. Hope you don't put the table on the 2nd floor. Haha 😂
That new steering wheel improved the interior 100%
It would definitely be heavy but if you can find a way to keep the glass attached to the limited top surface, it would look quite cool!
The amount of testing OEM steering wheel go through might surprised you- impact tests, bending strength, torsional twist test, push and pull durability and many more.
Not this one.
@@JohnSmith-yl8sg this one wasn't OEM....
its funny, some knockoff wheels are insanely strong... then theres ones like this one.. my knockoff vertex wheel is light as hell and i coukdnt break it when i tried lol
I like how the speedometer and tachometer move when you are mucking with the steering wheel. Almost like the car is saying what are you doing to me!? lol
wow.... now replacing my NRG wheel...
Tj Hunt no one likes you
You're breddy gud

Tj Hunt ya
Internet haters are wank stains
Imagine the lower part of the cheap steering wheel stabbing you if you end up in a crash (god forbid) :S
Jure Šeremet that part would probably bend. the solid hub however wont and will crush your rib cage.
+Texas Car Nerd well it is relatively sharp...if you consider it landing in your abdomen...If an ordinary navigation gadget is a safety hazzard during the crash, then there is no doubt that this is xD
Jure Šeremet no doubt it would hurt. but the death from the billet hub will probably be more of a concern. lol
I'm just imagining getting that pitchforked through my chest
spot on xD
Can we call it BlewJZ ? since it blew up?
Welshy lmaoo
Hahaha yeee
Is this considered a dad joke?
Not funny
A H salty little Toyota fanboy
Well, NRG Innovations can kiss their business goodbye lmao
Pandaxfoz it may have been Chinese imitation
Guys who actually build shit already knows NRG is trash. Commonly known as Not Really Good
Is grip royal good?
Even worse
Tugboatpb What are some good steering wheels?
Nardi/Personal Wheels all day everyday. Thank god it didn't happen while you were driving!
youre the dude from ricers channel. instantly knew your car from your pic
Also Momo.
This is safe, it won't come off while driving and it is made to bend or to pop off if you hit your head in case of a crash.
Grip royal is also good. Thinking of getting one for my beetle
bend and pop off so you get a face of pointy metal instead of the impact absorbing leather
Another thing to keep in mind is that you should make sure you initiate the wheel lock before you take the wheel off to reduce the risk of having to realign the wheels
...so now 40,000 people will not be buying any NRG Innovations hahaha
Staggered Horizons No one should have been buying from them to begin with
Well now it's 620,000
Or people are going to buy them and go get into an accident so they can sue.
Staggered Horizons lololol
I buy it still,,,but wouldn't be stupid enough to use it to remove a hub. :)
5:54 When you drive a slow car and need to accelerate fast.
Toradora
you guys really need to start thinking about safety. only use momo hubs. they are designed to collapse on impact. these other hubs are going to punch a hole in your chest. if you want to add a quick release after that it should be ok. but only use momo hubs.
personally i only use momo and nardi steering wheels. thanks for confirming im doing the right thing.
You know what you're doing! All these weird brands youtubers use just pain suck. Momo and Nardi (and Personal) for the win!
Texas Car Nerd exactly my thoughts, that solid unbendable hub must be pretty bad in a crash
Firewood i have a new momo Monte Carlo in suede on the way. i was tempted to get the personal grinta but $350. yikes.
Huh, I didn't know any of these aftermarket wheels had a crush hub available; for some reason I always thought that it was something that had to be fabricated or was financially out of reach of the average enthusiast. Good to know!
it's almost like this DnD company sends products to all the car youtubers and they just assume it's the best quality. momo ftw!
I love the quick release but sometimes I get worried ima take a corner & it's going to come off haha
The moral of this story is not to buy a steering wheel made from chinesium
Who Cares 😂😂😂
chinesium eh...
Sounds like something AvE would say.
A fellow AVE fan!?
yeah the nrg wheel isnt scucum
I bought a cheap “mugen” from eBay years ago.. The thing would bend forward if pushed inwards with barely any pressure applied... Those things should be illegal to sell 😂😂
Momo all day everyday
@@marlon3388 I like sparco more
@@Silverado-nw2lj nardi is best
This is why you use Grant steering wheels that have been in production since 1960. If you can use it for high speed off road, you can use it for anything.
Got a black on black grant gt wheel in my 1991 blazer and I love it
Hrothgar O' Dhughaill shit I have that issue with the factory wheel on my 66 Chevy impala the chrome horn sucks when the light hits it right plus if it sits in the sun to long the wheel itself will burn the ever living shit out out your hand because Chevy decided chrome and stainless rings belong on the part you actually grip. At the same time I live the way it looks to much the change it
WTF, imagine that happen when you on highway,,,
imagine... but the thing is, you shouldn't be yanking on the wheel like this in the first place

Haha nice catch! I missed that viewing this on my phone the first time around.
you actually inspired me to buy my self a s13. been happy ever since. thanks David
And now NRG sales plummet
If only we could see the graph somewhere!
Cars Simplified you could
Should maybe get the NTSB involved, thats pretty scary stuff.
Jeff K NTSB deals with plane crashes, not car products.
So they should if it there's wheels come apart so easily
Use a harmonic balancer puller David! It works great for removing a steering wheel
I always default to "more leverage" rather than thumb muscles.
The worlds first bluetooth steering wheel
Thats why you dont buy shitty nrg products lmaoo.
Skull Haha I'm glad i never ordered one.. i always wanted to
Skull But NRG products are so expensive :/
Twincam, just because something is expensive doesn't mean that it's good.
Just look at apple or, you know, the video that you just watched.
Tieto what do you mean apple, that's one of the worst examples you could of given.. every apple product I've owned has been great and reliable... I can't say the same about windows and android..
I think he was being sarcastic; nrg is not expensive at all. You get what you pay for haha.
Every viewer of this video won't buy NRG steering wheel, that's how many viewers by now?? ...a LOT!!! They need to recall this product before people end up hurting and suing them! Thanks for the video Dude!

ill just have that old school corolla that was in the background for a moment. I used to have a 80 corolla hatch. and that car was so fun to drive. if was my baby. miss it every day. Had to sell it to keep my house. If i ever find another one though its mine. and keep up the good work david love your videos man. they all rock.
3:04 that’s the point of having a small end and a big end 🤦🏻♂️😂
NRG is pretty good though. Don't know why that happened to yours but DND is just as good I guess. Both pretty good affordable steering wheels.
Weird if you use the right tool for the job it works
A pulley puller is known as the "right tool" to remove a steering wheel hub? The "right tool" is actually a specific steering wheel puller. This was a case of ingenuity, not necessarily using the right tool.
Kevin Davis thank you for that Input mucho gracias
Could have used transmission fluid+light taps with a hammer and occasional pulling to get it off. I got my custom hub made from a stock steering wheel stuck like that once.
@@kevindavis5966 I think he is referrng to almost 9 minutes into the video before he used any sort of puller. In real time, it probably was closer to 30 minutes before editing. If he is an employee or an owner of the shop in the video, stuff like this can easily discredit any skills he/they have to potential customers.
I stopped watching the video after a few minutes, was going to comment "Use a puller". I fast forwarded to where he finally used the puller because of your comment. In a more professional video, he would have the appropriate tools handy before filming even started. That's how a mechanic works in the field (I'm a former dealership and aftermarket tech).
tip of the day: next time, to make your day easier, tap the hub with a rubber mallet while you pull on it. and applying a small bit of grease or anti seize when you install your new hub will help.
you know DnD wheels are just from aliexpress with there logo etched on them?
yeaaaaa its no better than your NRG
#themoreyouknow
I had the same problem getting the hub off on my old car. Would not budge no matter what but those little gear pullers are life savers.
Should've went with Nardi or MOMO...

Lmao shady tree mechanics never fail to make me laugh..
i just bought an NRG wheel, works for me. My steering wheel is flush and not deep dish. I don't have that issue where it falls apart like that.
*Why to never buy a Cheap Steering wheel*
*Starts To Beat the living crap out of it just to take it off*
actually DND is cheaper that NRG
@@victormarvell that is true
Yeah because car accidents don’t cause high stress on the steering wheel you’re holding
JDMHMONGBOY96 steering wheels are meant to go through the stress of an accident. Not being yanked on to rip a hub off of a car that is infamous for having the wheels hard to come off
Sean Rahmoeller I’m pretty sure crashing at 40mph is 10x more force than him just yanking on the wheel. I’ve had NRG, momo and Nardi wheels. Nrg is pure shit and overtime the spokes will come loose from the wheel itself. My 20 year old momo Monte Carlo is still strong
Currently wheel shopping, and crossing ALL NRG items off my possible options list !!
I'm iterally amazed just how many wheel vids I've watched where they don't own a wheel puller, especially shops..
Even i have one, lol
$35 at Harbor Freight, it's awesome, in a case.. Even has a lock plate remover tool..
Please move in next door to Adam.
jason forte I agreee
That is the worst idea! Adam would be the worst neighbor ever! Loud music in the garage and out the back on the ramp, ramp noise in general, loud cars all the time from Adam and his friends, on top of that adam doesn't usually sleep until 3am+ and sometimes gets home at 2am! I honestly feel sorry for whoever is dumb enough to move in next door to him and i guarantee if David moves in next door they won't be friends after it!
i think david is used to loud cars. do you even know how loud his mustang is? adam doesn't listen to loud music at 2/3am in the morning. so take your hating ass outta here.
Haha him having a loud car has nothing to do with constantly hearing other peoples cars while your trying to concentrate and work! I know he doesn't have loud music at 3/2am but he has a loud car and also thinks it's appropriate to drive RC cars at the time! Fuck how old are you? Sound like a jobless low life who never left home.
yea man cause those RC cars are so loud.
This video has given me renewed confidence in my grip royal steering wheel.. thank you.
I had negitive 4 degree camber on my car and it went through tyres like crazy and the handleing was poor at best. I would only recommend 1/1.5 degree camber which will give the best function and corner grip, in my opinion
I just saw a post about cheap parts they had your video on there... really glad I saw the post and your video, its really eye opening!
5:55 That's exactly how David drives when he goes to the track xD
SlazerFis good won
no hate or anything but I've run a lot of NRG wheels and none of them have pooped out on me. I've had the same one on my Miata which I drive pretty hard for almost 3 years with a hub and NRG quick release and still works like new :)
This is why I would never buy a NRG wheel. Hubs are decent at best but never buy there wheels.
Classic nrg
Pay attention hondas
I dont even trust quick release's honestly.
The only setup I run is a momo or billet hub with a tested nardi or sparco. Currently a nardi.
Be safe ya'll
The fact that I have that exact same NRG wheel and hub setup and color even too for my e30 daily scares the living shit out of me. I also thought they were 1 piece...
Time to say bye bye to it, you now know that your E30 deserves better.
I feel like it was a knock off wheel cause I have the same one but purple and i beta the living piss out of it
NRG's are knockoff wheels mate
Justin L knock off of what?
Yemi Joel just knock off's in general. Low Quality steering wheels for people who are too cheap to actually invest in their cars. A 2nd hand legitimate steering wheel cost the same or a bit more than NRG's and are 100x better in the quality department.
I just bought an DND steering wheel last week. Excited to get it.
NRG = Ebay china products with a nice logo.
dacasman the nrg is made in China do research
and can you tell fake from a real one. nope just like the zeezy shoes
um.. okay?
did you miss the part where I said "NRG = CHINA"?
There's 2 threaded holes in part you wanted off. Make a plate with same hole pattern and another large hole in middle. Weld a nut on center hole, get a bolt same thread and put a point on it. Bolt the plate to the 2 holes and tighten center bolt to walk the base off. Or use a gear puller like you did and if you have one. Guess if you can blow up a 2JZ, you can also break a steering wheel.
So happy you pulled that NRG crap out of there! I know it's affordable parts, but I've had lots of their stuff fail on me.
dnd is worse than nrg bud.
@@alexlalonde1151 at least it's single-piece!
Good that you're spreading this.. It has been known for a while.. And I didn't want to put shame on you when you got it. but it's so awesome that you can say that something you got is shit.. There are probably alot of people that buy stuff on your recommendations so this is good to see :)
That corolla in the back tho, you should do a review of that car, really excited to see what's your opinion on the ke70s
Josue Medina that's my brother in laws corolla not exactly stock lol
Nery Portillo bullshit
Kongmeng Vang not bullshit it's. '83 corolla with a 1jz single turbo
dude you created the bluetooth wireless steering wheel !
The thing is, don't even place that old wheel back together before you toss it. It will be dangerous to dumpster divers because, like you, they won't suspect that was possible. Best to mangle it first.
you liked the new wheel because it was much flatter... *installs hub mount adapter that is 3 times wider *DOH
ThatDudeinBlue, use a steering wheel puller always, the steering shaft is tapered like a ball joint so your steering wheel won't fall off, so you definitely won't pull it off no matter how much of a beast you are without a puller or impact (BFH). It's all a learning experience, but I'm kind of surprised no one helping was able to redirect you more quickly.
I have pulled dozens of wheels off without a puller the other techs would chastise you if you couldn't xD
HAHAHAHAHA! Oh man, it was genuinely funny seeing you tug on that steering wheel and nothing happening. Thanks for the laugh!
Glad you found out about the weakness of the steering wheel, but if you wanted a grabber blue steering wheel, just buy a good quality one and paint it grabber blue.
Well thanks for saving my ass was just about to order an NRG! gone momo instead
I have a NRG steering wheel, I had it for 2 years with no problems. The design is not like that one though, it's a one piece design like the DND one he got. I do want a Momo steering wheel next though.
Then three guys stood and watched how it really comes off.
Homebrew Subaru hella dumb
you should have just rebuild the engine with new heads and cleaned up the pistons with new piston rings. if you did that you could raise the compression and got more power
I seriously dont understand why its so hard for the cheap aftermarket to at least make their steering wheels safe. Its not a complicated peice by any means.
WJH They wouldn't make such a tidy profit otherwise
This is safe, it won't come off while driving and it is made to bend or to pop off if you hit your head in case of a crash.
IMNOTA lmfao. The idea is your head never hits the steering wheel. If you don’t have a helmet and a 3 point harness, you shouldn’t trade your airbagged steering wheel for a KOOL STEERING WHEEL cause your broke neck won’t make you look too cool.
DevinRAR
I know, I would keep the airbag, but as mentionned on the website, it's a street steering wheel, which means it can be used without harnesses, it doesn't mean you should do it but there's people who want to do it, so nrg provide them wheels and make money.
But since most people that have a racing steering wheel don't have harnesses, they added some safety features just as a bendable rim.
WJH they are cheap because it is not safe
uhhn ..you're breaking stuff... uhhhn
i also had my hub stuck on the steering column you can use a puller as in the video but what i ended up doin was use a little bit of penetrating fluid and use a hammer tap the top of the hub and pull and it ended up sliding off
dont buy iphones, if u smash them with a hammer it will stop working
EugenioFaz hahaha why does this not have any comments? Definitely makes sense. If you forcefully move it in direction it’s not intended to go, it will break.... doesn’t help that nrg is a cheap brand but I mean like if it happens to fit your budget and seems durable when you get it, go for it, just don’t cry or shit on it when it breaks because of you. If it broke while driving or releasing the hub, that’s the company. If it breaks bc you rip on it hard, your fault
JBritt I know😂😂
thatblack_fg1 Dude, NO steering wheel should break that easy, EVER. It would recieve FAR more force than that in even a 30 MPH crash. THERE IS NO EXCUSE.
This is safe, it won't come off while driving and it is made to bend or to pop off if you hit your head in case of a crash.
It's fucking made to do that because this is a street steering wheel not a racing one like other wheels that don't rip apart.
Actually, this wheel is 99% guaranteed to not have a DOT approval number. It is illegal to remove or disable any safety component in a car, such as an airbag, UNLESS it didn't come from the factory with an airbag. This wheel is meant to be used on a car used only for show or track use. Now, if you use this in a race vehicle where you encounter higher G-forces it is, in fact, going to eventually pop apart as it didn't even take much effort. Most tracks also require you to have a proper racing seat, harness, and rollcage. So whether you use it legally or illegally, this wheel is 100% unsafe due to very poor construction.
For a major component that is kinda important I would never go cheap. But this was funny to watch. Be glad it happened during install rather then on the highway. good video
This has to be one of the funniest yet most embarrassing moments! What a POS steering wheel. That could've been your life honestly. Something told you to change that steering wheel and thankfully you did. Love the new setup.
This is safe, it won't come off while driving and it is made to bend or to pop off if you hit your head in case of a crash.
then stabbed by your own steering wheel after it pops off xd
lol was kidding
to get the hub off: put on your steering wheel, take the key out so the steering wheel is locked and then turn the wheel hard. so the hub should hop off ;D
NRG looks terrible too....idk why anyone buys them...just save another $100 and get a nicer wheel XD
dolphin smart man I agree
So if someone doubts between an nrg quick release and a d1 spec qr i think theyre the same quality after this video. Nrg is by the way a knock off of a japanese works bell quick release
hey david. have realized "bluejz"? and "blewJz"? XD

Wish it was easier to remove the hub. Always annoying, glad that wheel didn't rip off while driving! I gave up on NRG the moment I touched one.
how can nr-g get away with that kind of shit?
Race cars on tiny budgets don't run, and therefore won't be driven or crashed.
some things Factory are best untouched. Have seen this many times even with high quality aftermarket steering wheels. in some states it is actually illegal to remove your factory steering wheel and replace with one without an airbag.

*pulling it and bending the wheel* "OOHHH NOO!! I don't know what happened to it!"
it's not supposed to be that weak lmfao
I'm Not Onii-chan it’s supposed to break when you get in a crash so it really is
you're really wrong as fuck lmao. Any properly made aftermarket wheel is one big piece of metal. Not just metal spokes attached to a plastic or textile ring rofl. The metal is supposed to go all the way through.
Do you know what fucking g force is? This piece of shit NRG would come apart so fucking fast under hard cornering
Dumb fuck
Don't know if you know this but that was also a fake nrg wheel
Everything about the old wheel was shit. Ricer colored and deep dish, psyco bad taste. New one looks MUCH better
believe it or not a diy tip to pull that stubborn mount is using a faucet handle puller.
Cuz they bend and break 🤣
JDM Ju5 well it's kinda on the thumbnail but ok
Kenneth Pierce i just watched the video never looked at the thumbnail but literally I just read a post on fb about fake wheels lol.
nrg isn't a bad company many drifters and racers use them and are very happy with the results its just sometimes you buy a bad one i guess ive hear from many people that they are great wheels

Alexander MacDonald faster then my moms Jetta
I remember when David put that on thinking it looked pretty cheap and flimsy. Not really surprised this happened.
Had to be a fake nrg. Because NRG>DND
Ricky 2o9 I agree my NRG is great got it from the manufacture directly. No issues solid and hasn't felt like it was going to end at all. I have felt other fake steering wheels and they do feel crappy. I also have a Nardi sitting on my wall but I like the feel of the NRG more.
Yup that was a fake he really didnt know what he was buying and made a wrong decision on putting this up
Thats a knock off. I bet he got it from a non authorized seller. stop buying the cheapest stuff you can find on ebay or amazon. the manufacturer will sell you a better product with a warranty. I have the same looking steering wheel, bought from the manufacturer directly. But obviously mine is not a knock off.
Yeah, he really should have reached out to NRG before talking smack.
I bought a busted 240 with a cheap steering wheel in it. It bent when I pulled myself up by it to adjust my seat. That's when I knew not to ever use a cheap wheel. It was amazing how flimsy it was.
David if you go to import alliance let me have the wheel
Been running a $50 ebay "APC" one in my car and my utv for 8 years. Utv has been through he'll and back many times(I jump it) and no problems lol..........but Used MOMO and Sparcos in good shape are all over ebay for under $100
Don't buy cheap ANYTHING!
I buy My 7e carburetor Works better than Ur logic
All wheels to there own purpose. I just got in a 50 on 75 head on. I was going down hill at 50 and was dead stopped by a camry. My face hit my wheel and folded the deep dish (nrg) spokes back into my e36 dash but did not rip apart. I am more thankful for it doing that rather than not flexing an inch as I would have been knocked unconscious or dead, as my hips got shifted a full inch my spine was compressed into my hips and hitting my head on my wheel gave me a big enough concussion it has taken me 6+ months to regain focus on things and remember what I am doing while I'm doing it. If you can drift with it, it's good enough. When a crash happens you can do all you can to avoid it but if it still happens your wheel is the last thing that matters.
I used to like all the other wheels but if it's on street I would rather have another nrg wheels as it will absorb the impact and fold not bounce your head back and hold it's shape
NRGs purpose is to be in SimRacing rigs or trash.
I'd still buy an NRG wheel, fuck the haters.
Vhxzy same
of course you would. You listen to xxxtentacion
NRG good for local driving around. I would never use mine for time attack or drifting.
