  • Today we install a Shorai battery that has 540 CCA and only weighs 5 lbs!
    *Warning* Shorai does not support the use of their batteries in automobiles and it voids the warranty. I don't mind being a guinea pig. So feel free to touch base with me after some time has passed to see if it held up.

    Don't let this distract you from the fact that Hector is gonna be running 3 Honda Civics with Spoon engines. And on top of that, he just went in to Harry's and ordered 3 T66 turbo's with NOS..... and a Motec system and exhaust.

      The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

    Really glad to see you respond to older comments regarding the battery's life. I had one for my 86 and was great, was a tad worried about discharge over temps but I was thinking on reusing my battery box. Your claims have me on the positive leaning side a bit more. Cant wait to continue my baby's diet XD

    I've been using the same battery in my NSX without problems. Only catches are that you need to replace it every 2 years and it won't hold a charge for more than a week or so, so only worth using on a daily driver unless you disconnect while not in use. Optima Yellow top batteries are a bit heavier but still very light and possibly a better option for non daily driver cars.

  • @scuffops135

    • @TheSlipAngle

      I ended up just connecting the charging cable and ziptie'ing it off for easy access because yeah the hold down makes it more difficult to access.

    Any reason you didnt just lay it on its side and tie it down from there? Little bit lower CoG and little more out of the way. Its lithium ion it shouldnt care about orientation.

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wouldn't really make sense to lay on it's side as it would make attaching the terminals more of a PITA and I didn't want to undue the factory wire looms to accommodate that in case this didn't hold up as a viable long term use solution. At 4.8 lbs it's not really going to matter which way this is mounted from a CoG standpoint ;)

    Hey Quinn, let me know if this is a stupid question but I cant seem to find many other's opinion especially using this battery in the application we are. As it's a Lithium Ion is it fine to charge the battery while the terminals are still connected?
    I had an issue where the Shorai was giving me the four light flashes with crazy beeping for the voltage code but then I tried hooking her up while the terminals were on for the fuck of it and its charging fine now?
    I'm a little confused as to what's going on and if this is safe for the battery or not.

    Do you have a long term update on this battery?

    • @TheSlipAngle
      @TheSlipAngle  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far I have not had any issues with mine, even letting it sit for a
      week or two. Any downtime more than 2 weeks I use the tender for it
      as recommended. I'll probably end up getting another one of these soon for another one of my cars.

    Over $300 for a battery that needs a special charger? Ill take my chances with an optima car battery.

      The battery was 250.00 and it's been holding up really well. The 40 lb weight reduction in the engine bay was definitely nice too.

      Good! Just don't jump it or let it go dead very often.

      I am still not following how that would melt anything. I haven't had any issues since installing months ago. My friend ran this same battery in his MR2 for 9 years straight without issue as well.
