    Season 3 is confirmed to begin shooting January 2025, and at least some of the episode scripts are finished because David's read at least 3 of them. Neil also announced that if anything happens to prevent a season 3 he would publish the remaining portion as a novel.
    The very rough outline Neil and Terry had worked up for the final chapter is titled "668: The Neighbor Of The Beast."

    It’s also possible Crowly used to be the IT person in heaven and that’s the reason he knew how to access those files. After all he was very interested in technology and when he was still an angel he was a bit of a nerd…

    I got soooo pained on rewatches when I realized that'd there been a solid 4000 years that they'd been on 'their side' and The Before Time and the Book of Job were both referenced at this end (same music as Crowley had when he did the stars as in their kiss, and 'he always did ask too many questions'). This season is so rich in the depth of quiet characterization so that only gets more painful on rewatches 😭

  • @purpleirken1529

    Lol, the sigh at the beginning. Almost everyone had the same reaction to the end of episode 6 😂

  • @dashumpeding1499
    @dashumpeding1499 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    Heyhey! Interesting fact: Muriel said that only a Thrall Dominion or higher up could open the files. And those are all higher than an archangel. Which means, Crowley was a pretty big thing. But i think that makes sense, he did create the universe and god would probably not give that job to anyone but his most trusted. Really exited for the third season and if we finally get answered what Crowley was and if god had something planed for him with him falling and all.
    Love your reactions and that you're not afraid to show your emotions!

      even if it hadn't been renewed, Neil Gaiman would have written the planned story for it as a book, but I'd much rather have it in this form

    • @Bindi342
      @Bindi342 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @AmandaBee Yes, I wasn't really looking forward to a book since it would be lacking Pratchett's direct influence, and Gaiman has been very hit or miss for me. At least this way the show is a collaborative effort so should neatly fit together. It's a real shame about Douglas Mackinnon though. I hope whoever takes over is similar enough to him in style that it won't be jarring.

    I am pretty worried about Aziraphale in the next season. Gabriel was on trial for opposing the next heaven/hell war and nearly got his memory wiped. Crowley never had a chance to tell Aziraphale why Gabriel left. Aziraphale has been on the outs with heaven this whole season because he and Crowley intervened and helped prevent the last attempt at that war. Bureaucracies do not just take back people they have thrown out. So why was the Metatron in such a hurry to get Aziraphale back in the fold? He told Aziraphale he could think about the job offer, and then pressured him to come right away. Was this all about splitting up Aziraphale and Crowley, or is this about removing Aziraphale from earth so he can't protect it? Or some other plan? Anyway, I don't think Aziraphale is any too safe in heaven.

    Thanks for a fun reaction! And hopefully, you've heard by now that a third season has indeed been confirmed.
    I was intrigued that you thought that the offer of restoring Crowley's angelic status was an amazing one! It feels to me like the entire season had an underlying message of "Heaven is not morally superior to Hell," and that Crowley's insistence that he and Aziraphale be "their own side" is the realisation that Aziraphale, now, needs to come round to. I'm looking forward to seeing how season 3 plays out, for sure!

    • @andelain
      @andelain  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      It's funny, isn't it? Like, I get that Crowley doesn't want to be restored as an angel, but I also think part of me wondered whether we'd find out more about Crowley's backstory if he went back up there. We definitely know he was a high-ranking angel and it did cross my mind that it would be Crowley that took over from Gabriel, rather than Michael, by the end of the episode. Honestly though, I'm not even sure why I'd want that as Heaven has proved itself to be just as corrupt as anywhere else.

    I believe Gabriel took his memory out and put it in the fly, to save his memories, then wrote the note on the box as a precaution. One thing they didn't explain is why he stopped on earth and didn't get to Beelzebub, because if he knew to go to Az's, you'd think he would've had a plan to get himself there.

  • @seileach67
    @seileach67 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +6

    * Hugs * We will have Season 3 eventually. And now you can watch Sendarya's wonderful analysis videos! She does character studies, themes, costumes, etc. Highly recommended!
    Re: Gabriel's memories, we see the angels in the meeting saying something about they can start the memory wipe without Gabriel there, but when Saraquel tries to start the process, she hears from whoever is on the other end of her phone that neither Gabriel or his memories are in Heaven. Therefore he must have done it himself, but I don't think that Beelzebub gave him the fly with that in mind because at the time, there wasn't a known threat to Gabriel's memories. What he says in the meeting sounds as if he was expecting to be cast down to Hell(where he could be with Beelzebub). He has to improvise a way to save his memories once they tell him his punishment in the meeting. IIRC his clothes are material objects from Earth and he only got away with wearing them because of his status; that's why he had to take them off when he got demoted(i.e. in-universe explanation for the funny visual).

    Yeh Gabriel removed his memories but clearly then forgot what he had done.
    I think that final scene has a lot of emotion, and it's kind of hard to know what is going on and are we being distracted. Aziraphale is so frightened and upset, and Crowley is just angry.
    It is brilliant and a classic romantic drama trope, the second act break up. So yes it's a relief a third season is being made.

    • @andelain
      @andelain  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      The bit where Crowley is just standing there next to his car absolutely kills me - like he's waiting for Aziraphale to come to his senses! 😭

    • @bluefox5331
      @bluefox5331 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Funny, Gabriel removed his memories in quite the same unfortunate way as A and C hid him. He forgot... because he erased his memories, and then he couldn't get them back. And they hid Gabriel,, and then nobody knew it was him. Ha

    • @ericamacs3875
      @ericamacs3875 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@andelain I feel like Aziraphale almost changes his mind and then Megatron says "second coming" so he feels he has to go.
      It's also possible that other things are happening there. Some kind of communication between them. Why does Aziraphale smile at the very end? That whole face journey of his in the lift is intriguing.

    • @Bindi342
      @Bindi342 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @ericamacs3875 I've seen someone describe his smile as a look of "I'm gonna burn this mother fucking place to the ground". Like he's had the realisation that it's all up to him to do something about the way heaven is run, and he's going to fix things even if it means tearing the whole place down in the process. We'll just have to wait and see I guess.

    • @la_beatrice
      @la_beatrice 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ericamacs3875I saw that as a "stepford smile". It's a forced, superficial smile that indicates you are assimilated, at least outwardly. In Aziraphale's case, he is probably pretending, he wears the smile to pretend he is on-board.

    I've been waiting for this! Ughhh, I was literally inconsolable for days after watching and watching you experience it, brought it all back. There was such a lack of communication (shocking for celestial beings who have been together for 6000 years). Crowley thinks he is unlovable as a demon and that Azirpahale only cares for him as an angel and wants to change him back for that. Aziraphale loves Crowley in any form but wants to make heaven good enough for him. it's all terribly romantic but is so upsetting. That face on Aziraphale at the end, in the elevator there, is the face of someone who has lost everything and has nothing left to lose. He is going to wreck some havoc in heaven and I CAN'T wait to see it. Thank goodness for the S3 announcement, cause I couldn't have handled it otherwise.

    From my understanding Gabriel was okay with being sent to hell because he'd be with Beelzebub but when the Metatron said he' be demoted & his memory erased he decided to put his memories in the fly then go to Beelzebub and I guess restore his memories. His whole plan was supposed to go directly to Beelzebub but maybe he pushed the button for Earth instead of Hell then his instincts guided him to Aziraphale since he was the only familiar thing to Gabriel on Earth.

  • @HuntingViolets

    If I remember my occult lore (heh), archangels are actually NOT very powerful angels, they are the most powerful of angels dealing with the physical world, but above them are various ranks called thrones, principalities, and so on. My theory on Crowley is that he's an unwitting double agent (wait, bear with me on this...). Unwitting because HIS memory was wiped and replaced before he Fell. I think that his moral compass was always the strongest, and as a likely archangel and Starmaker (older and more powerful than Aziraphael), he loved creation deeply. When he discovers that this *Catholic human construct* of Heaven and Hell, based on human ideology, not What Is, may be destroyed in 6k years, he VOLUNTEERS to become Hell's representative on earth, knowing that his memory will be wiped and that he'll go through horrific torments. But, as both he and God know, his moral compass will always remain intact regardless. His core nature is indestructible and incorruptible.
    In my headcanon, his "divine grace" is ripped out of him when he falls, and God fashions Aziraphael out of it. S/he/they sends him to Earth as Heaven's representative...and as a salve and true soulmate for Crowley.
    When they each do "half a miracle" they are actually doing ONE miracle, created by the archangel who eventually became both of them, which is why it's off the Richter scale, as miracles go.
    This theory is in part based on the fact that in Terry and Neil's first draft of the book, they were one character. They eventually discovered that he worked better if split in two, though.

      You can! And no, I didn't know how it ended. Which bit do you consider the saddest scene? If it's the bit when Aziraphale is telling Crowley what the Metatron said about restoring him, those were actually (misguided) happy tears haha.

      @letolethe5878 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andelain Thank you for such a quick response! To me--and I'm not really sure why it's this specific moment--the saddest point is when Crowley (finally!) brings himself to look at Az and says, "You and me, what do you say?" Maybe because my impression is that Crowley already has a strong suspicion Az'll say "no", but he has finds the courage and love to ask anyway. He makes himself so vulnerable with so little hope because of his love. What do you think is the saddest moment?

    • @andelain
      @andelain  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@letolethe5878 Good question! I think there are a couple for me (bearing in mind I haven't done a rewatch yet). First is the bit when Aziraphale is telling Crowley how "it will be like before but nicer!" because at that point you can see that Crowley isn't on board and that Aziraphale is basically desperate to convince him. The second part (and this one breaks me almost as much as Aziraphale's "you go too fast for me, Crowley" in S1) is when it's Crowley's turn to speak and he almost breaks when he says "and I would like to spend" and kinda growls instead. 😭
