i felt the same at the start i was like "why did everyone find this so amazing" then i kept watching and was like "ok these character are cute" then SOMETHING happened and i cried for a week...10/10
It's a good show. As to the narration and the long switching scene: The whole first season is basically a shot to shot and word for word adaptation of the novel. In my opinion they could have exercised some creative license, just to make a few scenes a bit shorter, but it is pretty nostalgic to see everything come to live. Also, they might have wanted to pay homage to Terry Pratchett, the author.
Also the idwa for the book was originally neills, and they wrote it together. So neill literally just rewrote his and Terry's own book for the screen. The man seems very careful with making the adaptions of his works accurate to that work. And Gabriel dosent actually show up in the book that much if at all, so neill added him because he had john ham and because terry and neill had idwas for more writing.
Oh my god please continue this, literally one of my favourite shows, and it's got such amazing actors (plus you get a fun backstory of them at some point which is really fun)
First season is more the overal story of 'Good Omens' being told, the second season is more about Crowly and Aziraphale and we get so much more epic David Tennant and the glorious Michael Sheen. Obvious you don't want to miss THAT!!!
My advice with this show is to be patient with it. Not patient waiting for it to be good, because imo it's so much fun from beginning to end. But this first season is very much an ensemble cast with quite a few plotlines that don't obviously and immediately connect. My advice is: trust the process. All things will make sense, all questions will be answered, even if it doesnt seem like it in the moment. I genuinely think you'll grow to love this show pretty quickly, I'd say within the first 3 episodes. (Think of this first episode as your first 15 minutes of meeting Sherlock vs how you feel about him now lmao). I for one can't get enough Good Omens reactions, so I would love it if you continued. The brainrot is so real, literally not a day has gone by since the s2 finale aired that I haven't thought about this stupid show 💀
This is based on one of my favorite novels. It's just wickedly hilarious satire. I enjoyed this adaptation. It's faithful and nearly as good as the novel. If you decide to continue on, I hope you begin to find it more enjoyable.
Yess, please do the series! It gets way better. Neil Gaiman actually co-wrote rhe novel with Terry Pratchett, and also wrote the Sandman comics which is where Lucifer comes from. So they do have common background haha
Oooh I’m so excited to see you watching this show, it’s definitely one of my favourites! I’d agree with many previous comments: it gets better and better, so please give it at least a few more episodes before making up your mind!
Trust, it's amazing! The first episode is just setting up the plot for the rest of the series and also character introductions, ever since episode 3 there as been a massive following, so I would definitely give it a shot!
I don’t know if anybody has commented, but although good omens is brilliant in its own right, you really need to have seen” the omen” To appreciate how brilliantly funny Terry Pratchett’s send up of it ,really is. especially the bit with the dog!
Oh I adore this show yes David Tennant is an amazing human being. I love his as the Doctor and as the Demon Crowley he is incredible.🤩 I hope you continue the series is not very long and it’s a fun good time. Poking fun of religion and the film “The Omen”
I always say to people watch up to episode 3 before you decide. The first two eps ARE slow as it introduces more characters. I started off much the same then got totally obsessed. The show takes very different directions to what you may expect and definitely gets better as it goes on imo. ❤
I found you by looking for Good Omens reactions because I love the show. Friendly tip: those of us new to you don't really want to hear someone going on about how annoying this or that part of our beloved show is. We want to see someone enjoying it like we did. For that reason, I don't necessarily encourage you to continue because I'm not interested in watching someone be annoyed by a show I adore.
Actually TBF Crowley fouled things up, he assumed that father was the president. If you love David Tennant, then please continue. This show made me love him.
Crowley and Aziraphale arent supposed to be workmates or friends, but theyve been around each other for so long that they are closer than anyone else on their sides. Also, the narration is a Terry Pratchett thing that happens in the footnotes of ALL his books. Its very distinctive of his writing.
I had to start the first episode like, 3 times before I could finish it. So I kind of understant how you feel. But I'm so glad I stick with it. The story as a concept and as it is played out is very interesting. And I think nobody will argue that those are wonderful characters, brilliantly played by the actors.
I am 100% a Tennant Whovian girl. David is my doctor (as Ten, Tentoo, and Fourteen lol). I’ve watched a lot of his plays, movies and shows. So when I say Crowley is my favorite character he’s ever played… know that I don’t say it lightly. Please give this show a few more episodes before you make a final decision! I agree the humor and style is a bit jarring at first but Crowley and Aziraphale’s interactions make it all worthwhile 😊
I thought it was slow as well but it had two of my favorite actors so I stuck with it and was very happy to do so. It gets better and those two are always a blast to watch.
I went into Good Omens last year not knowing a single thing about it (and even being a bit uncertain regarding the themes) and it ended up becoming one of my favorite shows! I'd say keep watching!
First time I watched it I got 10 minutes in and was bored out of my mind and only tried again last month and finished both seasons in a few days it was so good
Regarding Marvel: the Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Defenders TV shows mostly exist outside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. You can enjoy those shows without diving into the full MCU madness.
I love this series but that may be more down to me having read the book all those years ago. If you enjoy David Tennent and Michael Sheen and you haven't seen their C19/lockdown TV series 'Staged' then that is really worth a watch.
Season 2 is the real gem in this show, but you do need to get through Season 1 first. I felt the same way in the beginning, and I almost gave up after the first episode, but since my husband and I have a 3-episodes rule for new shows we pushed forward. I'm SO GLAD I did. You'll love it if you give it a chance.❤
Fair point that it starts slow. I got swept up in the excitement when they announced the casting, then I didn't watch it when it came out for like, six months. I saw two episodes in two nights, then it clicked and I binged the rest the following day and I stayed up until 2 am to do it
It gets a lot better! This is my favorite show and even though this is the first video of yours i’ve seen i would love to see you continue watching this! (Also i think the wink thing was just for laughs, i was dying laughing when i watched it for the first time!)
Have you ever watched Galavant? Medieval musical comedy. Not many people have reacted to it. Really underrated. The songs are from Alan Menken. It's only 2 seasons. 8 episodes a piece. Highly recommend.
Bro! I just finished season 1 and am halfway through season 2 on this show, and I love it! Usually I'd be finished with it by now since Imma binger and don't often take time between episodes or seasons to watch more when it's available, but I started it with my sister and it's been kinda an unspoken agreement that it's something we'll watch together. Sooo, two episodes at a time for me :( But seriously, all the content you've been putting out feels like you're specifically catering to me XD, a bunch of my obsessions in such a short amount of time! First Bo Burnham, than Lucifer, than Sherlock, now Good Omens!? I'm hyped! Even if you don't watch this whole series, I'll be excited for whatever you do decide to put out! Thank you!! also a by the by, if you're looking for a new crime show, might I recommend 'Prodigal Son'? I think it fits p' well with the vibes of the shows you've been watching. Just a suggestion! Anyways, imma watch the video now XD
@@melindamullen6335 Ooo, that's hype! Still only on episode 4 of season 2 since my sis has been tired and didn't wanna watch the last couple of days >:( But that's fiiiiinnnee, just means I'll have less time to wait for season 3 I guess XD
David Tennant is a fantastic choice for Crowley, as Micheal Sheen is for Aziraphale. The show is well done, and very faithful to the original story. But like so many movie adaptations of written stories, it just can't match up. Watch the show. Enjoy the show. It's worth it. But. Read. The. Book!
Hehe. You share my David story. I was shown Doctor Who for the first time by my ex. I liked the show and really liked Christopher Eccleston. Then David came on. And I. Was. In. Love. With David and Doctor Who. He is the Doctor. I never attached to another one the same way. I watch almost anything David is in, but this show and Staged are my favourite post-Doctor roles of his.
Just in case... If you want to see more of David Tennant, watch Jessica Jones and/or Doctor Who. Both of those are worth your time and in the case of Doctor Who, I think it's a particularly unique series. Lately, I've seen some people starting Doctor Who (a show with multiple starting points, because otherwise you would have to watch more than 800 episodes to understand everything, but they build it in a way that this isn't necessary) from the 60th specials (3 episodes with 50 minutes + a Christmas Special) and than going back to season 1 episode 1 and watching from there. It's a really big show, but I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate reaction from the 2005 series, especially coming from you, since you're really fun to watch
Good Omens is fun. To be fair, I'm not a big fan of season 2, but it is entertaining. So, since you like Tennant, have you seen Broadchurch? I think you'd like that.
Just stick with it, and trust the process, SE2 is brilliant! I loved SE1, reminded me of hitchikers guide, but my bf wasn't very into it, but even he enjoyed SE2 very much.
The authors and showrunners of Good Omens are known for their creativity, abstractness, and general insanity when writing. Good Omens only gets better and there are more and more actors you will recognise throughout it. (Side note: Benedict Cumberbatch plays Satan. He is CGI, not Benedict.) Great vid, as per usual! 😊x
as someone who adores terry pratchett i agree his footnotes and longer tangents work amazingly in his books but not so well on the big screen. i personally find the narrator to be fairly annoying myself and think they could have cut her parts down a lot however i think having his words spoken is something his friend and cowriter of this book neil decided was important to make sure his presence was felt after his death. i would say this series is very much worth the watch as is season 2 and it realy does get better and better as it goes, the first episode is really setting up the scene
I am really looking forward to your reaction if you don't like the season one don't worry season two is going to be something just great, silly and warm. Nothing bad will happen and the first season is kinda silly and fluffy... it's great ❤😊
It's amazing. I'm obsessed. I think you might be in the tiny minority of people on this earth that think Oscar winning actress Francis McDormand is annoying though. Ha.
Judging by this reaction I’m not sure you’ll like the show. It’s very whimsical and quirky in style & you seem to be getting annoyed at a lot of the stylistic things, which in my opinion remain pretty consistent throughout the series.
And of course, while the Lucifer in Lucifer bears little relation to Neil Gaiman’s, the character is based on his Lucifer who also decided he had enough of ruling hell so quit to live on Earth (and ran a bar with Mazikeen)
I somehow still haven't watched this show, but I had to click on this, because David Tennant. xD Probably not gonna finish the video, but had to know your Tennant experience 🤣🤣
It is very worth watching - I think the first episode was a bit slow because they were setting everything up. By ending where they did, they have the whole situation moving now. The antiChrist grew up with no evil influence and he has the hellhound, but it has turned itself into a cute smallish dog and nobody knows where he is. Now our Angel and Demon and all the other angels and demons and the higher ups [or lower downs?] will all be trying to sort this out and THAT is where the action begins.
i'm pretty much only a nuwho fan too. my doctors in order are smith, capaldi, tennant, whittaker, eccleston. Gatwa is too new to haave an informed opinion but so far he seems fun and if i was going to guess from what i've seen hell be somewhere around whittaker leaning towards just above but we'll see. 1 ep in i hated smith with a passion.
Girl it gets so good!!! You have to keep watching it! Plus David as Crowley is literally the most iconic thing to ever exist
Trust me when I say stick with it. It gets a whole better and funnier.
You’re tempting me haha

You can really feel the Terry Pratchett rhythm in this show. The smooth silky wordsmithing
Yup. I just got to the complaints about that part and I’m out. This TH-camr is clearly not for me. “Don’t recommend channel”
This show is my Roman Empire!
i think it only gets better! i would definitely give it another shot

The show is a little experimental at first but the season 2 is where it definitely peaks! I'm confident that you'd feel that as well
