Thanks. Worked with my Edge, Android and 2019. When I plugged the phone into the USB, audio went back on the bike speakers. I want to keep the phone off the handlebars. I guess it goes in the tour pack.
Very good tutorial. Just ordered the 4+ and was testing different methods using ear buds as trial and error. Couldn't get the ear buds to override the HD radio tho. Hopefully cardo takes control. All in all the video answers the questions I had exactly. Good job. Thanks
@@RidingandWrenching I'm on 14' SGS so any new info for upgraded Boom won't help. Your efforts are appreciated and for gaining of knowledge I'll be glad to watch. As I mentioned I ordered the cardo4+ and hopefully it's a better turn out then trial/error with earbuds. I had both earbuds and Boom paired BT to phone (android) controls functioned as normal cycling thru music but I could not get earbuds to play music. Itstayed connected and audio played over Boom. I used my wifes phone and called mine, it rang and notified incoming thru ear buds as well as Boom but that was it, no additional audio thru ear buds. Only way to get direct earbuds was by disconnecting HD radio/Boom. Hopefully the cardo works the same as your video. I considered the WHIM but it's pricey. All this is due to upgraded LED turns and passing lamps. LEDs cuts out my FM (all static) I considered XM module but that too is $$$ so hopefully cardo gets me where I'd like to be especially for the price. It's not 100% what I'd like but it'll get me closer to where I wanna be.
I bought a WHIM for my '21 RoadGlide and if you have a non HD BT headset like that packtalk, you can only get MONO sound to the headset if you want to have car play.
So I got a park talk edge and my road glide stitched the Bluetooth sound to the bike from the Cardo. Do you need to connect to the bike first or is their a setting that need to be changed?
Good info. I have a question. Because hopefully, I'm about to buy a bike with a stereo is not a Harley it's vaquero, now I just use my earbuds whether I'm on my sport bike or my Vulcan with no radio. But since you have a bike with a radio and speaker, but also a full face with cardo and speakers, do you ever use the bikes speakers? Or are you pretty much always just listening in your helmet? If any of that makes sense thanks
@@ingeniousmechanic great question. I alternate between Bluetooth speaker in the helmet and the motorcycle speakers. Both sound very good. Arguably, the bike speakers sound better. I also have a Road King. It does not have a sound system. On my RG. I like to use Apple CarPlay so that I can get Apple Maps on the screen
Nice instructions - Thank you! QQ, what if you are listening to music via your bike system and you receive a telephone call, which unit will answer, bike system or cardo? My ideal plan is to have both bike & cardo systems connected to iPhone, listen to music via bike system and if a call comes in hopefully then Cardo will pick it up, not the bike audio system. Not sure if that's possible but would be nice.
That's a great question. I think you can answer directly with the Cardo. I haven't had any issues with it. Sometimes it will get a little wonky where the Boom GTS picks up....which becomes an issue if you have thick gloves on!
Awesome. Did buy the jumper in order to make CarPlay work? I purchased a 23 road glide and am finding out the boomgts doesn’t support CarPlay without this jumper module .
No jumper required. My setup doesn't allow me to use Car Play. My particular radio is not compatible with car play....I wish that it where! Hopefully, HD will someday include a radio that is compatible with wireless Apple Car Play
New sub. Just bought 21 Road Glide and I had the WHIM installed. However, the boombox NAV will not connect to my Cardo Boldtalk. At least that is what the dealer stated ..... but, suspect there is a way around. Does your method work with GPS?
@@RidingandWrenchingI'll play some more this week as well. I know they really want to sell me the HD Sena 10 ... ;-0) But, i ride with a group who all use the Cardo and the mesh works well. I leave for xcountry trip in mid May, need to get a solution in place beforehand and break in this new beast !!! Thanks for the response!
@@redhorsegarage If you have an iPhone, you can probably get it to work using CarPlay and streaming through your card...should probably work the same with Google maps. I'll try to get my hands on a newer bike this week and test it out
The bike has been back to the dealership three times and is coming back to me not fixed. I have lined up a "so called" BOOM / WHIM expert at another dealership. I have spoken to him and even he has not set up the new H-D branded Sena 50Cs. Beyond frustrating .... lack of training and expertise all around. I don't blame the mechanics - but I do blame ownership and HD for rolling out products w/o updating training plans and/or ensuring that their staff is appropriated trained. Last, the written Sena and H-D set-up instructions CONFLICT with each other and are very poorly written in general. Fingers crossed that the "so called" has the magic fix.
This works with Android too provided you don't plug in the phone. If you use the USB it messes it all up. Great video Michael!!! thank you

Great video thank you. Is there a way to play music through the bike speakers but answer calls through my cardo?

Thanks for the feedback! I will have a video on the newer version of the BOOM system in the coming weeks.

This is EXACTLY the information I needed! Thank you so much for posting this and saving me the $350 I was about to spend on the stupid WHIM!
Awesome! Glad I could help.

The new boom system is a lot better bro I have to say so my self I'm glad they upgraded the radio
I'm going to do a video comparing the 2. Stay tuned!
Thanks for the information. I spent 3 hours reaching how to go from the bike to the helmet. I have the packtalk edge
Cool. I also have a Sena. Works the same way.
@@RidingandWrenching I should've remembered that from my sena. Salute
Would like to see you do the same video with your HDHU 14 radio. Thanks
Great idea! I'm planning to do a follow up video to this sometime soon! I wish I weren't a one man show!
That’s great. You have one of the best Harley channels on TH-cam and I appreciate all you do for the motorcycle community. Keep up the great work.
@@davidgoetzinger2286 thank you! That's the best compliment I have received!
Better than paying for a WHIM module

Not yet. I plan to make one for group riding.

Yes. As long as you don't have a WHIM, the jumper should work. The dealership may be able to flash the radio to make CarPlay work
Thank you! Very helpful.. Great video.
Awesome! Glad it helped!

Did you have to install “apple car play jumper” in order for this to work or you did it without it?

Good review. Thanks!

Are you running the Cardo app on your phone at the same time, or are you bypassing the Cardo app?? I'm going to try this with my Android..
Either way. Works the same. I don't normally use the app unless I'm riding with other people
