Ja John, having travelled to/lived in various world cities on work & vacay, Msia may not be cheapest but still very reasonable, affordable living costs and fantastic world-class amenities as compared with other Asia continent cities. Msia is def the heart and gateway to Asia - Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand et al just literally 'stone-throw away' 😁. It's hi-time Msia govt be more selective on the MM2H thing bc this country is a magnet for online scammers eg. the Macau thing who surprisingly live in high-rise condos and residential enclaves! One time few yrs back we attracted rogues frm Latin America! Less said of a scheming grp frm one west African country. Anyway, for the hard-core million dollar foreign scammers what's the MM2H increased $$$ prerequisites setting-up scamming bases in this country. Ofc the genuine ones would be affected. Anyhow, if there's will, there's way ja! Having lived abroad (brief stay, the Bronx and internship visit in NY) Msia is ever ever uniquely welcoming expats and tourists - the bona fide ones eh!🤭

To repel applicants and basically shut it down. Being here for the past 25 years this is exactly what they want. Most do not understand. Yes Ken, you are right and on point about Sarawak ... Muslims and non muslims can work and eat together in the same coffee shops bcoz d muslims here have their own separate cutleries ( fork, spoons, plates etc ) ... Racial & religious respect, tolerance and harmony is such a thing in Sarawak and I believe in Sabah too ....
You just need to go to Singapore once every few months, stay there 1 night, and come back in again with a tourist visa. But it's kinda risky, say if all your stuff, dog, car are there, and one, fine day, they decide not to let you back in.

Well, in my opinion I wouldn't prefer to get settled in Malaysia, because a lot of local robbers are waiting for the foreigners to trap them and steal their assets. Personally, I feel may be the tropical climate and the natural greenery may attract the foreigners but in fact Malaysia is not a very good place to settle and live your entire life. I believe that a wise and smart person now a days wouldn't prefer to live in Malaysia, due to their rising economic crisis and their lazy people, I observed that most of their local people are very lazy also. I would advise to every body else "don't plan to settle in Malaysia", just go their for tourism that's fine.

Great view on solo travelling! I do all of my travelling solo because of the same reasons you talked about -- being able to do what _you_ want to do and seeing the things _you_ want to see. I totally agree with Ken. I am travelling alone and as Ken mentioned, it is much easier to plan the day as you don’t have to agree with someone about the days plan.

Congrats on the 100k! We were in Malaysia in 2020 just like you but we had to return home. Luckily we got back this year stayed for almost 3 months and went around the peninsula. We fell in love with it just like you and we can't wait to go back.

Personally, I wouldn't advise any one to go to Sarawak, especially Kuching, because alot of criminals and gangsters may be awaiting for the foreigners to trap and rob them. So, I believe that Sarawak is not a fit place to settle.

Hahaa I had to chuckle about the loud motorbikes! We just left the Dominican Republic and my husband says they sound like they get the exhaust bored out so it's a hollow pipe. Your observation of East and West Malaysia is correct. West Malaysia is more religious and conservative. If you like East Malaysia vibe, than Bangkok is a natural choice as second home.

Relatable 😂 as a Malaysian, I hate loud motorbikes as well when they speed past me, I bet they're just trying to be "cool" or showoff which is just annoying. Also, Malaysia was once a British colony along side with Singapore so is not a surprise that English is somewhat commonly used here. Infact there are some Malaysians who can speaks English better than the national language of Malay, the community or society is sometimes divided because not knowing how to speak Malay as a Malaysian is considered unpatriotic.
Yes you are right the Malaysian in Sarawak they mixed among themselves very well and more tolerated among each other..... two good places you did not visited in Sarawak I guess is the World largest Cave the Mulu Caves and the Kelabit Highland, Bario.....

Hahaa I had to chuckle about the loud motorbikes! We just left the Dominican Republic and my husband says they sound like they get the exhaust bored out so it's a hollow pipe. So loud then they love to rev them up as much as they can. You can only laugh really. Each country seems to have it's own brand of noise though 🤣🤣

Your observation of East and West Malaysia is correct. West Malaysia is more religious and conservative. If you like East Malaysia vibe, than Bangkok is a natural choice as second home.

Relatable 😂 as a Malaysian, I hate loud motorbikes as well when they speed past me, I bet they're just trying to be "cool" or showoff which is just annoying.
Also, Malaysia was once a British colony along side with Singapore so is not a surprise that English is somewhat commonly used here. Infact there are some Malaysians who can speaks English better than the national language of Malay, the community or society is sometimes divided because not knowing how to speak Malay as a Malaysian is considered unpatriotic.
Yes you are right the Malaysian in Sarawak they mixed among themselves very well and more tolerated among each other..... two good places you did not visited in Sarawak I guess is the World largest Cave the Mulu Caves and the Kelabit Highland, Bario.....
Maybe you can do a cost comparison of staying in KL and Bangkok for long term.
