Thanks so much for such a helpful video. 3 questions if you would be so kind to answer: 1) Without a top handle, are you shooting with this handheld much and if so how are you generally holding it? 2) The battery and SDD add weight to this and seem to make it more of a permanent rig; are you ever gimbal mounting this and if so do you have to quickly strip it down? 3) As your main viewfinder is folded away do you ever need to use the touchscreen? (I usually find it helpful for autofocus) Thanks!
Love it! Very similar rig to the one I’m building out - I am waiting on the ninja ultra and all of the gear to arrive! I m just trying to decide on lenses. Nice build mate. Well done.
😍 i love me a good rig video! such a great setup - makes me wanna make a rig video ngl - i also like my monitors as low as possible that's why sometimes i go without a top handle but keep a side handle so that i can mount the monitor directly on the cage like you. great vid man!
One thing I’ve noticed that makes me sad with a lot of yalls s5iix rigs is that you can’t use the beautiful view finder anymore. Always a battery of something else in the way. I love using the view finder! It’s like a movie theater in there 😂
Hey cool rig👍 how is the hdmi latency on the s5iix? I am thinking about to buy it but I am pulling focus myself filming. Have a great day👍 and thx for your videos🍿
HDMI lag can be not so great sometimes. But is better if you don’t transmit audio over HDMI. Like almost entirely fixed. My only issue with the S5IIX and pulling focus is that the focus magnification is a little soft
Amazing video!! Is It true that it is bad to run camera and monitor from same battery? I heard that it fries the hdmi, has anything like that happened to you ever?
@@UrdazFilms power looping can be an issue. This is all powered off a battery adapter that I can cut power to everything before connecting/disconnecting the HDMI
What does this battery connector do? What's the difference with powering camera and monitor straight from the battery? Also.. what purpose do the rods serve? Looks like they just add bulk. Just got a V mount and now looking at the simplest way of mounting it. Thanks! @@Ansonandco
How many D tap ports in total do you get from this? Im looking to power the camera, monitor, and wireless transmission. Maybe wireless focus pull at some point.
Great question, so I can load the camera from the front of the tripod instead of the rear. I think at one point I had some extra stuff on the front of the rig and it was just easier to switch the position of the plate.
I’d be lying if I didn’t say maybe a little, but it was mainly a smaller codec. We batch record episodes and so having 3 1 hour episodes in a day, the smaller codecs were very much welcomed. I liked the look of the podcast better with the FP, but the AF and smaller files are worth the step down of image quality
@@Ansonandco yes it makes sense. Different tools for different purposes. I use the FX3 for more run and gun, man on the streets projects because of the auto focus. But for slow paced filming I grab the fp for its video quality and cdng raw.
If you’re just powering the camera, I would do this andycine battery with a dummy v mount plate and a Powrig dtap to dummy battery option. If you’re powering a monitor too I would spring for this adapter by smallrig to help the flow of power.
Hi dude, i used s5iix and bought osee lilmon 5. I feel that the color is quite off more yellow to magenta. I have old cheap godox gm55 monitor which is almoat accurate compare to s5iix monitor. How do you set your lilmon 5 so it is accurate?
@@Ansonandco yes I do. It doesnt change anything except if I turned on the 3d luts. Even when it applying the luts it still look very off. Is there anyway we change the color setting of the overall monitor?
What is your favorite rig component?
The Smallrig Vmount battery plate looks very compact and cool
honestly really liked your ssd setup, very slick/clean
Love that SmallRig Black Mamba cage, makes the grip so much better 🎥👌
Good job, son. I love you-mom
Thanks! Love you!
I love this one man. Can't wait to get mine. I will be following your setup. Cheers.

This is super helpful man - I still need to sort out my S5 iiX rig to use a v-mount solution - will check out the Kondor blue stuff
Thanks! I wish I could find a mount cable that is not coiled, but in the mean time the KB works well.

cool little rig. I like that you mix smallrig and kondor blue elements.
Thanks dude! I am constantly frankensteining rigs

Sir, how clean u want your video?
YESSS!!

Great video as usual man. That is a very tidy setup indeed 👍🏾.

Dude I’ve gotten to where I hate using top handles. It just makes everything so tall. Also I would love to see another rig video from you my dude!

Thanks for this video because I wanna build something for myself like this for videos.
It honestly is one of the best set ups I’ve done and makes life so much more simple and efficient. I wish the dtap cable was not coiled but 🤷🏼♀️
How you like the pass monitor?

Did you run into some problems using the FP for the podcast?
Not at all, I just wanted easier file sizes for the amount we were filming. Image wise I would still use the FP if it made sense size wise
@@Ansonandco makes sense!
great video sir. Love the setup. Cheers #lumixgang
Thanks dude!
nice rig! one question man
how much juice you have for recording when camera and monitor is connected to V mount battery? 3-4hours
I haven’t full blown stress tested the time, but with camera and monitor im pretty confident that you should be able to get 3-4 hours out of it
@@Ansonandco ooo nice thank you four your reply! And time 🙌🏼

man, I use the same cage with Konder blue SSD handle. Just need purchase the cable clamp directly from Smallrig
Nice! How is the handle?
@@Ansonandco pretty cool. You may want to give it a try. Just need smallrig mini quick release nano rail
I hwve a small tig v99 Vmount battery, do i need the v mount plate with all those ports? Arent the outputs on v mounts balanced voltage wise?
How do you find it for weight when going hand held
Why do you mount the Manfrotto plate backwards?
Great question, so I can load the camera from the front of the tripod instead of the rear. I think at one point I had some extra stuff on the front of the rig and it was just easier to switch the position of the plate.

Why not Atomos Shinobi monitor?
I don’t know about shinobi, but in my experience with Atomos monitors don’t handle LUTS very well. And so the Osee works for me. And it’s lighter
