Good morning guys! We shot a TON of videos from the BMW event last week and this is number 3 of 8 that was filmed. Let us know here which vehicle you want to see a review of posted next. These are the videos we still have left to post: 2024 BMW XM Label, 2024 BMW X5 xDrive50e, 2024 BMW i5 M60, 2024 BMW M3 CS, 2024 BMW i7 M70
Yes, this and the 3 Series pay all of the bills for BMW. They literally can't mess it up. Maybe BMW will hire real designers after this fall from grace.
I'm not a fan of SUV's as a driver, but I really do appreciate the interior space they can provide, and this interior is indeed beautiful. But why do manufacturers still insist upon placing everyday functions that EASILY should be, and without thought, accessed by a few simple in-dash buttons? It is beyond me. Heated/cooled seats and steering wheel, in fact, ANYTHING to do with passenger comfort, shouldn't be accessible behind sub-menus that force the driver to take eyes off the road. Otherwise, this is a beautiful interior. Hats off to so many manufacturers that understand this. My wife's 2021 SUV is button heaven, making the driving experience much less distracting, and what's left for the screens to do is very optional and rarely used, but nice to have. I hope BMW has figured out how to make their vehicles last beyond the initial warranty for secondary buyers. It's a rare sight to see any BMW on the road over 5 years of age when one takes into consideration just how many leave the dealerships new. Great review! Your work is always appreciated and noticed by your viewers and me.
I agree. My '21 was just totaled a month ago. It was a great car, my baby. I really loved it and it saved my life in the crash. I wanted another X5 like what I had. I thought the UI was just right. I'll miss the crystal glass shifter too. That little toggle switch is going to take some getting used to.
You have to have at least 310 miles on it before you get full power .its limited to below 4500 rpm till then. Also you forgot to hold down the downshift paddel for 3 seconds to enter sprint mode
FWIW, the LCI X5 *does* have Highway Assistant with) hands free driving up to 80 (or 85 maybe) MPH, just like the 7/i7; it just doesn’t have the “change lanes using your eyes” feature from the 5/i5.
I'm sure & I've never owned one but I've owned an Audi & if not under warranty one must prepare to pay quite a bit of money for maintenance, this applies to BMW,Audi, Mercedes, & Volvo, I might have left some others out
@djsthemetereman I used to be a serial BMW buyer and would drive them well after the warranty ended. With proper maintenance by knowledgeable mechanics they were quite reliable. When they started to go all techno heavy I still buy them but I trade them in 500 miles before the warranty runs out
There’s some insurance companies like Geico that offer extended warranty as long as you add it to the vehicle when it was new. It’s fairly inexpensive up to 100k miles/7 years so I’m driving my stage 2 tuned x3 m40i out of warranty without much concern
As a man who owns the legendary reliable 2010 x5 N52 xdrive30i and 2015 x5 xdrive35i, and works for BMW shop, the newer versions are beautiful….UNTIL you get that work order bill😂😂😂
I think the biggest reason to get M60i over M Competition is for people looking to get a comfortable daily driver that still have plenty power to overtake on highway, while the M Competition is better at most aspects, it's suspension a bit too harsh for a daily, also as a avid cyclist M60i offer factory trailer hitch for a bike rack while M Competition doesn't.
Can confirm this. Just picked up up this vehicle and can say that after taking both the X5 M Competition and and the X5 M60i for a test drive back to back the M60i was more comfortable on surface streets. If all you deal with is highway driving this may be a non-issue. Another thing to consider is that they share the exact same engine. There will be inevitable tunes that bring power levels into parity (if you really think you need the bump in speed). Realistically either model is a hell of a lot of car that 95% of people will never get close to maxing out performance for.
@@averbalin It can be tuned up to 600+. Some have it tuned to 700+ with some sort of chip/electronic mod. For me, it was scary fast, haha, don't need more. And, it handles great. Love the air suspension and adaptive stuff.
Great video! Looking forward to you showing the beautiful Ambient lighting at night. The Sky Lounge ambient LED moonroof is amazing. One of the reasons I chose the M60i over the X5M is for the air suspension. It's very convenient to lower the car to help elderly people and our old dog get in and for loading/unloading. 🙂
Working at a BMW dealership, the X5 M60 offers the option of toning it down to Eco or comfort mode, especially good when on the interstates. Of you want it more performance oriented, then sport and sport plus can be engaged. Also, in the northeast, roads are not in the greatest shape so the standard wheel set up with all seasons is the way to go. Great all around SUV, lots of room.
The design and quality of this is impressive. That’s said $105k MSRP as tested. Better to find one in 3 years with low miles still under warranty with some depreciation. You want to get one of these for no more than around $80k
People say Cadillac nomenclature is too complicated with names that are too long. The double standard in the industry are eye opening. This name is long and a mouthful.
Hi. Just drove my 2024 M60i on I80 interstate and I must say that the stability is a huge concern. I dropped the speed to 50 mph and exited the interstate as soon as I could. The car wobbles / drifts like you have no control over it. It’s extremely stressful and gives a feeling that I picked the wrong car. I’m open to constructive feedback and suggestions. Thank you.
interior is insane! if your goona get a new BMW DO NOT buy it without driver asst professional. TIP: if you hold the left paddle down for 3 seconds your enter sprint mode which will engage the electric motor.
You may like the sound of the engine, but it in no way compares to the wonderful sounds of V-8 engines from the 70's. As a teenager, my dad gave me a Ford Pickup and he installed headers for me too, which gave the engine-exhaust an incredible sound. I felt so cool driving the pickup. I also had an air compressor with an air tank that powered a loud air-horn too. It was awesome.
Personally i preferred the previous setup the new dash with thick bezel display isn’t appealing. I also dont like the line in front of passenger on dash, looks subpar. But love the x5 in general
BMW finally reviewed their interiors. Especially the Mid Size SUV. Mercedes Benz can be more luxurious but this is more futuristic… even down to Idrive
We're picking up my new X5 M60i this Saturday. It's replacing my '21 X5 M50i that was just totaled a month ago. I ordered everything that my '21 had, same Tanzanite paint. I would've kept it a long time as it was a great car, my dream car, and my 2nd X5. I'm bummed the '24 doesn't have fog lights as I used mine a lot. They really lit up the sides of the road in the dark. I'm not crazy about this trend to have all the controls in the touch screen. Also, the engine/exhaust note is much milder than the M50i. It sounded like a beast but this one won't be the same. We will see.
The front facia of this one is off to me. I think it's the headlights. They're bland compared to others in the segment. Also, it looks like a Traverse from the back. The interior is fire though.
Pity if you turn off the fake engine sounds you can't hear a thing without full throttle. We turn the engine off when trying to start all the time. Power wise so don't need the x5 m competition
Change is sometimes hard. But a little crystal nubbin where the shifter should be? That's a bridge too far for me. Especially in a car that's supposed to be all about driver engagement. Whoever is telling BMWAG to "clean up the cabin" is totally wrong.

I think most of us are looking at this are gonna buy it used I like the fact that this is the first BMW that it’s not hideous and yes it’s a hybrid but you get the old reliable V8 engine . Enough of this this turbo v6 trend, those engines are a piece of crap. The only car is the price like I said it’s $100,000 new so you might want to do that three years old 40% off the MSRP trick I just took a look at some 2022M 50 eyes and those were going for around 59000-60,000 so signifiant savings. I’ve been seeing used 2024’s with 10k miles for 79k. Even found one with 4k miles for 82k. Not bad considering it was probably 95-105k new just a few months ago.
Pre refresh was better in every way. Physical buttons, no tacked on screens, real gear selector, way more adjustable air vents, and a better looking front end. I was going to buy an X5, but I’m going to be looking at Porsche instead because the screens are a complete deal breaker.
It is nice to have money. An automobile cost as much as a vacation home or a small house in many area in the country. It is better to lease the BMW X5 when the value depreciate 50% after 5 years and warranty period is over. It is wonderful vehicle, but like I said it is nice to have money.
I keep saying it- wth- no digital camera rearview mirror in a $100k vehicle?! Also, I'm still a little confused on exactly what the 48V mild hybrid system actually does? Can this BMW even be called a hybrid?

I own the pre-refresh. I like that version of idrive better than the new version.
Yeah me too. Not only does it seem easier to use with the buttons but It has a much more visually appealing user interface.
I like the functionality of the outgoing infotainment system but I like the aesthetic of the new interface better.
