    0:00 - Intro
    -
    BAD:
    0:54 - Expensive
    The X5 M60i starts at a whopping $89,300
    The GLE53 starts at a whole 11k less - at 78,100
    BUT that’s a straight 6, so let’s compare the GLE580, which is a much more comparable 85k
And then there’s the Audi SQ8, which is kind of a competitor here, but the Q8 is a weird fit within the lineup - anyway the SQ8 starts at $95,500 and according to the Audi website currently you can’t even buy an RSQ8 so i think something weird is going on
    2:10 - Naming confusion
This LCI year for the X5 really shakes things up - you’re got AT LEAST a mild hybrid on everything and now the PHEVs are more robust, etc BUT there’s some confusion at the sporty-end of the lineup with the Ms
Last year you could get an X5 M50i - which brought great power and speed from the addition of the 4.4TT V8
From there you would jump up to the X5M, and everyone knew what that meant - S designation M engine, reworked suspension, diffs, etc
And from there you could squeeze out a little more performance from the X5M Comp
    But for 2024 there’s a big change
There’s the X5 M60i and then a straight jump to the X5M Comp
This is because almost nobody was ordering an X5M non-comp
So now the M60i slots between the old M50i and base M, but gets a big engine upgrade we’ll talk about later
But in any case, if you’re wondering why there’s no more M50 or no more M that’s why
    3:13 - Nitpicks
Custom ambient light only available in comfort mode (sport red, eco blue)
Heated steering wheel no longer on the steering wheel
Can’t fold the rear seats from the trunk
    -
    GOOD:
    4:18 - The Engine
This new M60i now gets the S68 true M engine.
    It’s a familiar one at 4.4TTV8
But now it’s got a 48V mild hybrid system integrated into it to help fuel economy but it ALSO has a fun little trick
If you hold the downshift paddle you’ll enter “Sprint” mode which will dump an extra 40 electric hp into the car for 10 seconds of added pace. The electric energy is then almost immediately recouped and you can do it again - amazing!
This M60i is obviously detuned compared to the M Compeition though
Here you’re making 523 hp and 553 lbft
And that’s good enough to do 0-60 in 4.1 seconds..allegedly less than half a second slower than the M Competition
    5:26 - The new look
I’ve said in last summer’s X5M comp video that I think the X5 is the best looking midsize SUV from the Germans and they’ve made some updates for the LCI year here and I still think that old statement holds true
7:11 - The New Interior design
Of course the big story is the addition of iDrive 8 with it’s MASSIVE dual screens
And they put almost everything in the screens including
    Wireless ACP
Some of the best 360 cameras in the business
Cool ambient light, though not as cool as Mercedes
But now the heated steering wheel button is in the screen too and that’s mildly annoying
On the M60 and M Comp it says M on the dash
But you’ve also got crystal for your
    Start stop button
    Drive selector tab thing
    And iDrive wheel
    8:18 - The Drive
    9:43 - Luxuries
You’ve got heated and cooled seats
And you CAN option 8 way massage if you want
You’ve got the heated steering wheel
AND you can even get heated armrests…super cool
You’ve got an awesome Harmon Kardon sound system as standard
But you CAN upgrade to the crazy Bowers and Wilkins 4D audio
And then my favorite thing…a pano roof
But not JUST a pano roof…you can get the Skylounge roof that’s embedded with LEDs to simulate something similar to the ROlls Royce starry night headliner we just saw in the Ghost
    10:26 - Trunk
First of all, it’s nice a big - the PHEV will have a smaller trunk because they have to have some place to put the battery BUT on the whole it’s nice and big
The seats do fold…but not from the back…annoying
BUT the floor also comes up, which is pretty normal and you have a secret cubby
BUT the cool thing is that you have a strut that will hold up the trunk floor…which i’ve never seen before and is certainly overkill, but kinda cool
And ofcourse I love that it split folds as it has for decades..never change…also you can tow 7200 lbs
    11:04 - Rear seats
They’re spacious for legroom and headroom
They’re a great material and have fancy stitching
    They can be heated
And you get your own climate zone back here
    AND some shades
And you get the travel screen thing where you can mount your iPad and plug it in right into the back of the front seat…clever
    -
    11:43 - Conclusion

I bought the 2024 X5M. drove it for about a week. I have pain in my right leg near the knee. It's a thigh support issue from a seat position standpoint. I think their sport seats are designed to be too recessed, which causes you to sink into the seat. This causes your butt to actually be lower than your right knee, which causes thigh pain and soreness. I've been browsing some forums and it seems I'm not the only one having this problem. I've purchased the cushion and hopefully it will help. For a car worth almost $150,000, it's crazy that they can't even make a comfortable seat. wwwwtttttffffffff!

As a BMW guy who owned everything i can say that was a bad deal really, especially if you had reasonable miles on it. You traded the best performing SUV ever and got a really inconvenient and much more cheaper interior, plus the fact that you lost quite a lot of driving capability. And i wouldn't be surprised if you are paying even more than before.

You must get massaging seats for long drives! If you are alone in the car, the B&W is phenomenal. Air suspension with 22" wheels are great and very soft, except for sport mode, HOWEVER BEWARE it has a tendency to eat tires. If you hit a pothole, it damages the sidewall. There are people who go from 22 to 20" for this reason. But if you have air suspension the ride becomes too soft.

    • @gerhardlamprecht1098
      @gerhardlamprecht1098 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

It is the dual axle air suspension. It lowers 40mm in Sport mode, you you can manually lower it. You can go down 80mm, but when you start driving it goes up 1 level again. You can also raise it by 40 and 80mm to go over obstacles. It matches really well with the 22" wheels. The ride is as soft as 18" high profile, but if you engage sport, it makes it stiff. This is optional but really good to get.

Thank you for your video. I couldn't agree more with your statement that M60i seems to be a reasonable offer for people willing to have some M fun, but still want to assure their family trips are as comfortable as possible. I mean the suspension thing here. Maybe I missed this somehow but what actual type were you having in this car and found satisfying - was it air suspension or the adaptive M/Pro? The adaptive M Pro sounds very interesting but for the sake of family trips (a couple of small kids) I can't accept stiff handling at all times and I'm not sure if adaptive M/Pro in comfort mode will be as smooth as the air one? But between a gle and an X5, I’d recommend the X5 as it’s superior to the gle in terms of ergonomy, tech and design, even through that’s subjective. You can also buy an X5 50e - in-line 6 engine with a large electric boost. might be interesting in terms of tax deductions, especially if it’s a company car.

@@matthisalbert I meant V8 vs v6. I absolutely love the gle 53 look. I prefer the Mercedes interior over X5. I also know that what’s the ultimate driving machine 😊. I went for gle for the 3rd row. X5 doesn’t have that option and GLS and X7 are just too big for NYC.

I just recently purchased a 2024 BMW X5 Xdrive40i...while my budget was north of $100k, I simply could not justify the M60i. First, if you drive both you will definitely notice the difference in the two from a pure power perspective! However, that is TRULY the only difference and for me, the added horsepower in the 60i was not worth as much as the better gas mileage in the 40i. In the 40i you get a combined city/highway of 27 MPG!!! My 40i is also in the Tanzanite Blue and he is right it is drop-dead gorgeous! if you can afford it, I don't think you can go wrong either way and it is just a matter of choice. I moved over to BMW from my 2023 Mercedes GLE AMG 63 and all I can say is bye, bye Merc, I'll see you in the next life 🙂

Sir. I like your content and review style. However, I’m sure you probably reviewed the Cayenne…in which I’m incredibly confused as to how you can say the BMW is the best performance luxury mid-size SUV. I am a BMW fan but a much bigger Porsche fan. I know the comparable Cayenne is far more expensive but it really doesn’t matter comparison wise as it is in the same class. There is no way any performance luxury SUV can compete against any of the 2024 Cayennes. I mean they have been doing 10 piston brake calipers since like 2014. As a car enthusiast l, I’m sure you understand my point.

What Cayenne competes with this? The S? It has 50 less hp, and once you add options to match the BMW it’s probably $120k. And if price is irrelevant then why don’t we throw in the X5 M, RSQ8 and the Urus, they’re in the same class and pummel all Cayennes but the GT. And let’s remember, these are 5000 lb luxury SUVs made for daily driver duty, not sports cars or GT cars that you are carving up canyon roads on weekends, or take to the track.

@@gregs8685 2 letters. GT. There is no car company you can possibly like that makes better performance luxury cars than Porsche. Look at all the comparative reviews and come back to me. All of their cars are benchmark in the respective classes. What do you think will compete with the upcoming Macan EV with the “Turbo” words on liftgate? There simply is no equal. Does “Holy Trinity” mean anything to you? Imagine a 3-series competitor. The only thing missing. When they launch it…the 3-series will no longer be a benchmark. This comment will age well.

    1. this is a fantastic LCI upgrade from BMW. the styling and body-line changes are amazing. they truly rejuvenate the car.
    2. this V8 engine is fantastic. the ease of power is so much more comfortable than driving a V6
    3. the interior material quality is poor. everything is so light-weight compared to my 2014 BMW M5, for example. flimsy and light weight, cheaper feeling leather, for example the steering wheel. will it stand the test of time? TBD
good and bad, like everything in life.

First of all, it’s not a real true M, so that’s the first issue. Why? 33K reasons that’s why. Your comparing a real AMG to a non M car. Compare it to the X5M competition and you will see several options that make it the REAL M. Brakes, suspension, exhaust, water coolers, spoiler, front end, horsepower - even though they house the same motor, the M comp is tuned to 617HP, where the non M 60 is at 523HP. Plenty reasons why it’s a 33K difference.

I have the same issue evey time I rent one and have to get two medium and two carry-on suitcases into their shortened trunks. My Volvo XC90 is a proper "midsize" SUV. I can fold the seats flat and fit a 3-person couch in that and close the rear door. I can also take it off-road and raise the suspension height. It can even tow a boat. That is a "utility" vehicle. My present rental, a Toyota CHR, is literally a Stupid Useless Vehicle, not a Sport Utility Vehicle.
