    Bryan is right. I bought a Pitbull stand back on 2001 when I first got my Honda CBR929RR. Multiple bikes, different brands on my garage, no problem, because it's adjustable. It's still solid and no problems whatsoever after 16, going to its 17 year. It's definitely an investment.

    I have some trackside stands after my pitbulls got stolen. The difference between the two stands is just as big a difference between Yamaha and Hyosung. Do the trackside's work? Yes they do. Does my RR wobble on them? Yes it does. Bottom line you get what you pay for, and a quality stand is a lot cheaper than buying a new swingarm & bodywork if your bike takes a dive.

      I ve NEVER seen or heard someone having his bike dropped on cheap stands cause theyre cheap stands. I do however have seen as much bikes go down on expensive stands as cheap stands cause of inappropriate use by the owner

    Those cheap eBay stands are for the people who found a used half working 250 or a dirt bike. If you have anything that’s worth it, you wouldn’t want even the possibility of it falling. Imagine an H2 on a Ali stand, $30,000 right down the toilet. Love the videos!

    I know the video is old but thank you. I do have the Harbor F, and I do like it. The front stand and swing arm stand are of cheaper brands than that of a Pit Bull or a Woodcraft. Truth be told I never really researched stands. I just bought the ones in the store. They have worked for years until just recently almost damage my 2012 Busa cause the front stand move, and the bike came off the front stand. I was by myself in the garage. It took everything I had to catch the bike get the front stand pitched backup so I could get the wheel from between the stand. The harbor F held the back, but if I had not caught my bike in time, the whole bike would have fallen. I have always trusted your reviews and opinion about the gear and equipment you sold. I definitely will be upgrading and pray I never have to hold my bike like that again. Thank you!

    That very slight angle is huge! I once tried to put a car up on a jack cause a tire blew out. Mistakenly didn't think about the car being over dirt and the jack collapsed because of that small lean angle. The weight of the car then damaged the jack itself and was rendered useless.

      @jboozey1 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @trsskater I disagree with that statement. If I can afford the best quality, that's what I'm going to buy. I would rather have the piece of mind knowing that I am purchasing from a reputable company or manufacturer. Rather than spending my hard earned money on something I know I didn't want and didn't have the patience to wait and save up for what I actually wanted. Cost has a big influence on how people spend their money.

      For a cheap stand they are not horrible. The front stand is not very stable and requires too much lifting effort to use. Trackside is a house brand for Revzilla and Cycle Gear. Look at the top supports for the rear stand and compare them to the Pit Bull supports. www.sportbiketrackgear.com/motorcycle-stand-buyers-guide/ We have pics of the 2 of them side by side on this page. The Best of Both Worlds. Pitbull does not make Cruiser Specific Front Triple Tree Stands however Woodcraft does...
    Pitbull makes XL and XXL Wide Tire Swing Arm Rear Lift Stands. A Good Thing for Cruisers with Fat Tires.
    This is what I am planning for my Cruiser because I have a Fat Tire. Woodcraft Front and Pitbull Rear. BOOM!
    I don't want 700LBs of bike coming at me sideways when I am wrenching or changing the oil.
    P.S. Pitbull and Woodcraft are getting hard to find on the Major Seller websites (Revzilla, J&P Parts, etc). You might have to buy directly from the makers websites to find them in stock.

    riders know, you don't want a wobbly stand. happened to my boy on his zx14. We had just talked about this same topic few weeks before. His driveway has a slight angle to the left so its not totally flat. He raised his zx by the rear with some cheap stand, and no problem what so ever it raised it up alright and once the bike was higher in the air along with that slight angle it just kept going to the left. bike, stand and all.
    same drive way, same angle been living there one year plus same circumstances has yet to have that problem again after buying a pitpull. another instance I've been privvy to. Non rider didn't know any better and leaned against a bike on a rear stand that bitch went over toot sweet and fast. I've leaned, sat, pushed on and done some pretty reckless things on my pitbull rear stand. I've never had a problem to date. Have had my pitbull rear and front since 2012.

    So I have some Trackside rear and front stands for my 2016 R1. Been using them for a few months now and have been working well.
    BUT before that I was using a $39 Harbor Freight rear motorcycle stand (m.harborfreight.com/low-profile-rear-motorcycle-spool-stand-99701.html). Used it for about 3 years on multiple bikes, including my old Busa. I have always done maintenance/work on all my bikes myself, and that stand worked has worked flawlessly for me countless times. Only reason I am still not using it now is because I forgot it back home when I deployed, and I picked up the Trackside set at a really good deal.
    Anyway my point being is that you don't have to spend top dollar to get a quality stand. I'm NOT trying to take anything away from Pitbull stands since I'm sure their stands are very well built, and definitely don't get that trash wobbly stand that was used in the vid lol, but there are other options of quality stands as well for a lot less $$.
    Informative vid by the way!

      I have one Pit Bull stand that is 20 years old and still works the same as the day I first got it new. I'm not confident that other stands I've owned during that time period would hold up like the Pit Bull has. I've easily used the Pit Bull the most, because I could easily tell it's of the highest quality out of all others I've owned.

    • @thesickening0169
      @thesickening0169 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Z Nismo...... I started out with some of the trackside stands, and still have them today, but prefer to use the pitbulls I have bought since. The trackside were/are okay, but just that, okay. I NEVER use the trackside front fork lift stand, it is way too wobbly and flimsy, haven't ever felt comfortable lift the front of the bike up with that. The rear stand seems better, but the swingarm lifts on it don't extend all the way out (the welds hit the frame on the bottom), so it hasn't worked for every bike I have, only some. Furthermore, some of the bikes I used it for, it only ends up barely lifting the rear wheel of the ground.
      Bottom line, I don't have any of those problems with my pitbull stands. The tracksides are OKAY in my opinion, if you want to save some money when grabbing them on sale, to keep as maybe a backup set or something. Otherwise, I'd choose pitbull any day.

      Johnny Gee I hear you. I'm sure Pitbull stands work great since I haven't heard anything bad about them other than the steep price.. I'm good with my Trackside. Weird because they don't wobble on me at all. They're are completely planted to the ground while everytime I'm working on my bike

    Question? You say you know nothing about physics? Didnt you say you were once a mechanic?? All good mechanics know some physics?? Also when talking about the counter weight effect against the other stand, surley if the fork bottoms fit between the brackets whats the problem?

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fork bottom supports on that stand are v shaped. If you lift the bike with them in the wrong position you will not be able to remove the axle from the forks (it will be blocked by the support). It is also possible the support catches on the axle nut, endurance cup or axle slider (if either of these has been installed) instead of the for bottoms. If this were to happen the bike would be in an unstable position increasing the possibility of a fall.
      The information in these videos is a blend of my opinions and experience based on first hand experience over the years. End of the day you would be hard pressed to find someone who has used as many different brands of motorcycle stands as I have. I am sharing what I have learned while trying to encourage other riders to spend their hard earned money wisely. - Brian Van

    I can attest to the fact that cheap stands usually suck. I bought a set of Pit Bull stands for my Buell after a cheap borrowed stand tossed my 1125R to the ground. Never an ounce of trouble afterwards. The swing arm still wears the scares from that incident.
    I do have a set of cheap stands that I bought for my Honda track bike. They have all of the issues Brian points out in these videos but they have worked well for about 3 seasons now.
    My point is, Pit Bull makes awesome products, period. They are well worth the extra money. The cheap stuff can work though if you take your time and be careful. If you cannot afford anything else, the inexpensive stuff will work. If you want it to work with no fuss and only want to buy one set, get Pit Bull.
    I cannot comment on Woodcraft as I've never owned one but I can say everything they make is top notch so I'd expect no less from their stands.

      I should also mention that when that cheapo rear stand launched my Buell it also bent the handle bar. Add in the cost and stress of needing to get a bar on a Friday evening for a Buell the night before a track day to the expense of that cheapo stand. Makes me wonder why the heck I'm using cheapo stands with my Honda. :)

    it's just like jack stands for cars. the cheap 5 buck a pair discount store variety will support a car on a smooth level floor so long as little stress is applied in any direction but static vertical load. add side loads, floor pitch, or other dynamic stresses, they fail fairly easily. while they may well last quite a while under ideal conditions if babied, they are always tempted to fail. beefy, high quality, well engineered jack stands withstand ABUSE, as well as "use in the real world" loads. bike stands are exactly the same. if looking at them cross eyed tempts failure, they are unsuitable to the task at hand. those ali express jammies are designed for small, light bikes like honda passports, not 400 lb bikes. use on 400 lb bikes will tempt failure. it really is that simple.

    People can cry all they want, but you know as soon as you pick one of those stands up, whether is quality or just shite, quality always shines through. The guage of the tube, compared to the guage of the folded plate, the shape of the tube as aposed to the plate, the tube by design is stronger, and that's why the two engineers chose it, add to that the craftsmanship applied to each stand, regardless of how good a welder you are you can't polish a turd. If you start with shite, you end up with shite, and a shit load of waisted time and effort.
