Yenna always gets taken by Orin in my playthroughs. I have no idea why she never takes anybody else. Ive never had any of these interactions -- I'd assumed she existed to take the place of a companion when kidnapped if you werent close enough to any of the possible choices.
Well Orin takes Yenna unless you have laezel in your party. If ever you do have laezel, Orin can still take yenna if you have gale and Halsin/minthra. But let’s say you only have laezel, then it can be Halsin or Gale. Yenna will still be in the camp but not much to talk other than the fact she still there. Laezel is important on your party because she is the one that catches “Yenna” in the camp. So if you don’t want Yenna to be caught, you just gotta roam with laezel in your party until someone else is caught.

(In my mind she would take it, not get encumbered and we would find a spot for him) Strangest thing happened though, after I threw it it sorta splattered in the ground and (somehow????) fully healed itself and was brought back to life. Grub doesn't talk anymore but he IS alive and is just vibing in camp now. I like to think of him as Astarion's pet vampire/zombie cat now :)

Cat Fact: The reason Cats go off to be alone when they sense their gonna die is to be in a safe place, calm down, and protect their bodies from larger predators. So Grub was actually spitting cat facts. Also I would die for that little scaredy cat!
On my first play-through I learned about Orin kidnapping one of our companions and I learned that pretty much the only way to guarantee both Yenna and Grub live is to ensure Orin kidnaps Lae'zel. Now I loved Lae'zel, I never took her out of my party before and honestly I hadn't quite gotten used to the combat so I relied heavily on her multiple heavy attacks to carry me... but in order to save both Yenna and Grub, I took her out of my party and waited for the reveal cutscene. And honestly it took me a long time to get her back because I had no idea what I was doing, but it was all worth it in the end, I learned to how to play without my babysitter Lae'zel, Yenna makes me some soup and Grub stays out of the soup 🥰
It was always a horror series. Bhaal symbol was on the front cover, first cutscene was a Darth Vader looking motherfucker annihilating a knight offba building.
Can we talk about how the poor cat --knowing Orin...she probably took Yennas form before killing him just so he died thinking she betrayed him...and Astarion is probably just trying to atone for gur kids he took to cazadorks

So... gortash said that one of my companions was a "traitor" or something like that. I see now that he was talking about lae'zel beeing orin. But for the entirety of act 3 I though Yenna was an enemy infiltrated on my camp lol
To save Yenna, have Gale, Laezel, and Halsin/Minthara the first time you go to sewers after u save her. To be safe, bring the three to meeting Gortash as well but I'm not sure if it's necessary. Also, I haven't been able to save Yenna in my runs cause I have a mod that lets me keep both Minthara and Halsin so Minthara is the one that appears.
Yeah, kid just disappeared from my game after I got to the Elfsong. The cat was still around though. And Orin was Lae'zel. Though I fully expected this scene to happen, it never did . . I wish the Orin scenes would have an insight check, cuz from the 2nd one it was always like, duhhhhhhhhhh.
I LOVE how many permutations this game has. Yenna is in Elfsong with me, post kidnap and everyone including her cat is safe and sound... but Volo disappeared for me and I haven't seen him since!
Somehow my game did not trigger having a shapeshifter at camp. Maybe because I visited the Dryad only after I killed Orin? Don't know. Next playthrough I hope to find out. Lae´Zel got kidnapped but there was no "replacement" for her, she just vanished. And Yenna was just Yenna all the time and stayed until the end.
I just realized something.....Yenna describes her mother's sickness as how your skin gets weird after you evolve....I'm thinking she got infected, went to Orin to sort it out, something went wrong turning her into a dopple, and Orin's next best idea was to go for the kid.....MAN do I hate this villain so much....
I suspected Yenna might be Orin because Orin had infiltrated my camp so many times. So, I I saved, and then took her out to see if she would change into Orin. She did not. And the Oath Breaker knight went right into attack mode. Interesting. When I let Yenna stay in my camp Orin took Gale as a pawn. Yenna never appeared again. Her cat stayed. Her great cooking skills provided four meals of vegetable soup. I thought I might adopt her, which is mildly sad, but maybe she found a foster home. She probably should have taken her cat with her rather than leaving it with me. *The world's smallest violin plays just for me at this moment*
Even if you save Orin's victim within the day she abducts your companion, (therefore skipping Yenna's implied death with the letter on a pool of blood) Yenna would still be gone. I'm pretty OP in my current playthrough cause I have the lvl 20 multiclass mod so I was able to sweep through her Netherstone immediately after arriving at Baldurs Gate at lvl 15. Still, she wasn't there.
Yenna only “disappears” if you dont make camp after gortash and immediately go into the sewers, it has nothing to do with the bloody note because yenna is still in my camp even after a few long rests
I was terrified that yenna was going to be orin in my first playthrough, then when I saw what she did to the others she impersonated I was glad she never did
Btw Yenna doesn’t just disappear. She DOES get kidnapped by Orin no matter who she kidnaps for u to save. And if you look around you can unfortunately find Yenna’s corpse.
No, that's not true. Yenna only dies if you fail the rolls to save her from whoever Orin is impersonating. Although if Orin is impersonating Yenna, then it's Grub who dies. But if you succeed in your rolls, Yenna gets a little traumatized, realizes that nowhere is really safe, and angrily declares she'll never let anyone threaten her again, before calming down and going back to serving soup. I really, really wanted to get Karlach to teach Yenna how to fight, but Larian never programmed that option in.
-Yenna is only supposed to disappear if she's the one taken instead of a companion. -She still disappears if you find out a companion was taken via finding Orin in the sewers, but that's a bug. -She will remain in your camp if you get the kidnap reveal camp scene.
Yenna died in my playthrough thanks to my shit rolling. Sadly no one reacted much. Wish they did it broke me heart losing her to Orin killing her while disguised as Lae'zel.
oh that is interesting! my reveal of orin was actually the gith warrior trying to kill Yenna, saying she saw her shapeshift. So my quest now is to save the gith
Strange, when I gave her food I got a different reply from her, she said something about how her mum had left her some food but she ran out a while ago
Yenna is so cute, I accidentally killed her the first play through though because I thought she was Orin. She wasn’t. She was in my second play through
am I the only one who thinks the scene with yenna and the scene with the refugees wanting to squat at that one guys place is a reference to the Dragon age origins?
That's so weird, I didn't get Astarion's approval when I gave Yenna food nor did he say anything when Yenna asked to come to our camp. I wonder if it was a bug or something on my end
A lot of it depends on how his character progresses through the game. He tends to approve kind acts to the weak and downtrodden more if you show him support without judgement, help him through some of his trauma, and nudge him toward being good. If you indulge his worse instincts, he doesn't really grow.

Yeah, he kept saying in the fight to not kill Ethel otherwise the kid would die.
when you’re playing a good Tav and convince him not to ascend, the changes in him are massive as he finally has someone who showed him power is not everything.
I got approval from him for comforting Vanra after she got puked up. This was before we confronted Cazador, too, so if it's variable it's based on something else.
Welp. I already killed Auntie Ethel on accident trying to save Mayrina. Didn't realize non lethal hits don't apply to ranged 😬
@@Orion_TheyThemeven if you kill her in act 1 she comes back anyway
So i see a lot of these things about yenna getting kidnapped but she never did. Orin kidnapped Lae Zel in my playthrough and i talked to yenna like EVERY night so it isnt like i wasn't progressing her story. She made the best soup. Slurp happy.
In my one save she was kidnapped. The moment where its revealed is real freaky.
When one of your companions get kidnapped by Orin, Orin already kidnapped Yenna and was masquerading as her. If you found the sewers early she would leave with them both. And leaves the kitty alive. I'm playing the Dark Urge origin, so I'll he going after my mc's sister first. Yanno coz revenge.
@@CapucineNighly But i never got any yenna being impersonated cutscenes and i still have mr kitty. i also didnt go into the sewers until about half the way through the act 3 i did the entirety of the outside baldurs gate bit then i went and did the pidgeon sidequest/circus where i ran into orin. went and did the open hand thing trying to find evidence. oh wait that leads you to the sewers with the shapeshifters. huh. guess i did go to the sewers.
Thanks to this clip, my headcanon now is that my Tav and Astarion eventually decide to adopt Yenna as their own- Yennefer/Geralt/Ciri vibes 😂
Yenna always gets taken by Orin in my playthroughs. I have no idea why she never takes anybody else. Ive never had any of these interactions -- I'd assumed she existed to take the place of a companion when kidnapped if you werent close enough to any of the possible choices.
I think Orin only ever takes Lae'zel, Gale, and Halsin/Minthara. If u have them all in ur party she takes Yenna instead
After picking Yenna, don't do long rest and go to sewers, Orin will interact with you in sewers, after that you won't see Yenna ever again in your camp but kitty will stay in your camp and live
My first and she took lazael, im completely fine with it but the problem is Yenna disappeared too :((
@@ladymaria5921 I did several long rests after Yenna came to the camp and Orin kidnapped lazael while Yenna still disappeared. It is a bug not feature.
Grub the cat is alive in my save file even after Orin did what she did...
So the next morning I wanted to give Grub a funeral but my character had a strength of 8, so instead... as messed up as it is but I promise it has a good ending...I chucked the cat's body across the camp to get it closer to Lazeal so she could pick it up. (In my mind she would take it, not get encumbered and we would find a spot for him)
Strangest thing happened though, after I threw it it sorta splattered in the ground and (somehow????) fully healed itself and was brought back to life. Grub doesn't talk anymore but he IS alive and is just vibing in camp now. I like to think of him as Astarion's pet vampire/zombie cat now :)
that is one hell of a glitch you had there
OH MY GOD this got crazier with each sentence
i always feel so proud of astarion by act 3, dude really needed the power of love and friendship to help him frfr
"Not that I care, it's just that I care so much and my unbeating heart is breaking in my chest as we speak and what if the little urchin kid gets hurt oh my god oh my god we must be heroes and rescue this poor innocent child."
I kept waiting for Yenna to be Orin in disguise. But I guess since there is some weird mechanic which NPCs are Orin until they suddenly aren't, and I have no idea how the game chooses the kidnapped character, Yenna ended up just repeating one line in my camp.
He also approves of you being nice to the child's brain in moonlight towers. 🥺
Weird. I never had these interactions with Yenna. She was always just gone for some reason and the cat was still there.
Omg what a softie. Yenna's in my camp right now but I didn’t talk to her before a long rest, so I'll do that tonight. Glad I watched this!
;-;
@@GeorgeWashingtonLaserMusket What do you mean that you can save her but friend is tortured for a bit? isn't she a fake from the start?
@@michasokoowski6651 she's not.
Orin can replace (and kidnap) her, while killing the cat;
Replace Halsin (while killing Yenna)
Replace Gale (while killing Yenna)
Replace Laezel, then take a knife to her neck saying that Yenna is shapeshifter. If you see through fake Laezel, you can save Yenna. But Lae still gets kidnapped.
@@seeinred Oh, I'm kinda at this part. Laezel has been kidnapped and Yenna is gone. I never got some of these cutscenes though...
@@sgxthachits bugged out. Yenna gets flagged to despawn and laezel gets kidnapped but canonically yenna is still alive since her cat doesn't mention anything
I think Astarion cares in general for Children. He was also worried about the Child in the second fight against the Hag
Awww I'm sad I missed this. Halsin was the one who got kidnapped for me but Yenna just disappeared anyways. And then Halsin disappeared after I rescued him lol. Guess I took too long 💀
Yenna "disappears" because when orin delivers her letters with a pool of blood, it means she killed someone in your camp to do so.

I did this with astarion in my party but didn't get the "astarion approves" in the upper left corner, I think the game stops showing approval once you reach maximum approval.
I love the socially awkward cat
1:48 "She might come later... I don't think she's coming." :(
Cat Fact: The reason Cats go off to be alone when they sense their gonna die is to be in a safe place, calm down, and protect their bodies from larger predators.
Everything went better than expected (/ jk)
3:10 This turned into a horror game real quick 😳
It was always a horror series. Bhaal symbol was on the front cover, first cutscene was a Darth Vader looking motherfucker annihilating a knight offba building.
Pretty well-designed scene, scared me a bit
idk I thought it felt like a horror game for all of Act 2
I'm never letting Yenna in my camp again after finding out the cat dies
Rangers have a dialogue choice that implies the mom actually just abandoned the child.
Can we talk about how the poor cat --knowing Orin...she probably took Yennas form before killing him just so he died thinking she betrayed him...and Astarion is probably just trying to atone for gur kids he took to cazadorks
not grub becoming grub T-T I'm so glad Orin took somebody else, this is so sad
😭 He must have been so confused and scared as to why 'Yenna' was hurting him too
Stop that’s making me so sad :((( I dislike seeing animals hurt, even in video games lmao
@@feesaylon7252 I read on reddit that someone checked with Grub before the scene and he could sense that she wasn't Yenna, so at least the poor baby didn't feel betrayed :c

The guide I read said Astarian hates helping people but I guess the guide was wrong.
I guess he feels remorseful for all the children he kidnapped for Cazador

He says mean stuff but i see that approval rating. He’s a softy for kids and animals
Well damn, wasn’t expecting that transformation. I haven’t played this game yet
headcannon tav and astarion adopt yenna at the end of the game. i will not accept any criticism
Awwwwwaaaa. Such a sweetie under it all. It all being his trauma.
Nooooo she fucking kills the adorable cat?????
I kept turning her away because I saw what happens to Grub is Yenna is taken 😢 poor kitty
Poor thing, imagine what was going through his head when cazador compelled him to kidnap the gur children, thats so vile, poor trauma baby 😢
I NEVER HAD A SCENE WITH YENNA COOKING, OMG.
And Yenna was just Yenna all the time and stayed until the end.
... Orin killed the cat!?
That neck snap... I want to make it louder.
please do not the cat
It's actually a bug. She's meant to stay. They're working on it, I think.
when this happened I feel like I fell in love with him all over again TvT
After saving Yenna, she said that she wanted to go home. I thought she was going to her actual home but she meant camp! SO PRECIOUS!
what a rollercoaster; first I was saddened and then very scared
Even if you save Orin's victim within the day she abducts your companion, (therefore skipping Yenna's implied death with the letter on a pool of blood) Yenna would still be gone.
I'm pretty OP in my current playthrough cause I have the lvl 20 multiclass mod so I was able to sweep through her Netherstone immediately after arriving at Baldurs Gate at lvl 15. Still, she wasn't there.
Ah, you got the UnlockLevelCurve. Wise choice.
Yenna only “disappears” if you dont make camp after gortash and immediately go into the sewers, it has nothing to do with the bloody note because yenna is still in my camp even after a few long rests
In my first play through, Lae’zel got taken by Orin but Yenna also disappeared. I hope things turn out differently in my next play through
that's a glitch.
@@Jawf94 yeah, I assumed so, this time Yenna didn’t disappear so I’m guessing whatever caused it last time was fixed
This is blatantly untrue lol
Thanks for spoiling🙄
-Yenna is only supposed to disappear if she's the one taken instead of a companion.
-She still disappears if you find out a companion was taken via finding Orin in the sewers, but that's a bug.
-She will remain in your camp if you get the kidnap reveal camp scene.
Tsundere Astarion
" [foreshadowing]" 100%
i never got the interaction where she actually gives you stuff she just kept repeating the same stuff over and over.
I've done two playthroughs and I've never gotten a scene where Yenna cooks. She's just stood there and did nothing the whole time.
he is so cute
Yenna died in my playthrough thanks to my shit rolling. Sadly no one reacted much. Wish they did it broke me heart losing her to Orin killing her while disguised as Lae'zel.
Yenna has just disappeared from my camp with some blood in her old spot, Orin hasn't said anything to me about it. 😅
oh that is interesting! my reveal of orin was actually the gith warrior trying to kill Yenna, saying she saw her shapeshift.

I thought I was the only one who had the Fuzzy Hair and messed up skin bug, good to know it isn't just me lol
This girl straight up disappeared from my camp at one point and idk what happened or if I was supposed to do something or what
am I the only one who thinks the scene with yenna and the scene with the refugees wanting to squat at that one guys place is a reference to the Dragon age origins?
That's so weird, I didn't get Astarion's approval when I gave Yenna food nor did he say anything when Yenna asked to come to our camp. I wonder if it was a bug or something on my end
A lot of it depends on how his character progresses through the game. He tends to approve kind acts to the weak and downtrodden more if you show him support without judgement, help him through some of his trauma, and nudge him toward being good.
If you indulge his worse instincts, he doesn't really grow.
Only one party member comments on yenna staying
Is your approval too high? I stopped seeing approval because I’m maxxed out which sucks because I miss out on these types of things
Yenna dissapeared from my camp, same time that Gale was taken by Orin... Sadly I didn't find her back :(

Its weird how she is forgotten in the epilogue... not even a letter from her

So hmm for me....
Orin took leazel 😂😂😂 and the cat and yenna are still in my camp.. e ^e but i did start another playthrough to correct some of the mistakes i made on the first
So if Orin takes Laezel, does that mean Yenna is not Orin? She took Laezel in my play through but Yenna is just gone now. Grub is still there, though.
It's a bug. When your companion gets captured, Yenna is still flagged to despawn for some reason, even if she's not the shapeshifter.
@ayanhart it might be a pc issue because I'm playing it on ps5 and she has remained in my camp
Is yenna's story different for everyone? My yenna told a different story..
Ive always see ppl misunderstanding astarion's character, saying he's Unredeemable, a straight up monster and is pure villain coded.... as if they forget that this Is a role playing game and your decision/route + aproval rate has an effect of all their characters outcome...Like Acended astarion personality cannot co-exist on the same universe as a mellowed out Spawn Astarion, if you only got a 1 dimensional character out of him ever thought you did something wrong along the way and its not JUST hows he's written up? 😅 like these ppl dont give a shit about him, choosing all the dismissive dialogue option and its surprise astarion still doesnt like you and treats you with disdain 🙄
