One thing that worked well for me, especially if you pug this fight, is to get one person to assign the player positions before you start the fight. I've seen so many scenarios of people fighting over positions already taken and then killing each other with hailstorm. My usual setup is Tank + one melee DPS (or the OT if it's a dual tank group) to the north, Healers to the south and the other DPS to the east and west. And move clockwise if the circles are at the cardinal spots. Also, if you are unsure of where to stand to dodge the icicles, just stay in the middle. It's better to get hit by just one instead of two or three and killing yourself. Lastly, watch Shiva's animation to know what weapon she's pulling out instead of waiting for the icon to appear on her health bar. If she flies straight up, it's sword. If she twirls, it's staff. And if there's a bright flash and a loud crack, it's the bow. Sometimes, she'll pull the sword out just as icicle circles appears. When that happens, stay in the middle to soak up icebrand before moving to your safe spots. This is actually a really fun fight once you've got the tactics down and if you have a capable group, it's one of the easiest Primal to farm. Enjoy your shiny Shiva loot!
Didn't comment on your other videos, but I have watched them. Helped me get through all the extreme primals. Thanks for making the videos. Tend to watch the videos atleast about 5 times to get the hang of it. Your videos are usually better, and more pleasant to listen too lol
Pro tip for BLMs! You can help cut down on the healing needed to be done to you (and the movement you need to do) by popping Manaward for the first Icicle Impact (Phase 1); you'll likely not gain the vulnerability debuff. You can pop Manawall for Shiva's Phase 1 Sword Stance to not take damage from her Icebrand and not get knocked back/take damage for her Heavenly Strike (theoretically, the SCH should be on point with those Succor so you shouldn't get knockedback anyway, but hey) Also, if you're targeted (or not) by Avalanche, you can pop Manawall; you'll take 0 damage and not get knocked back. Manawall CD is just enough to always have it ready for the next time you get to Avalanche. Lastly, if you're out of range (IE you chose Outer B instead and Shiva's at where outer D would be) and Thin Ice is up, just click someone close to Shiva and use Aetherial Manipulation. You won't slide into oblivion if you use that and you'll be in range to pump out DPS :)
For any lvl 80 Unreal newcomers coming back to this guide, a couple additional tricks you can use. - blue overhead knockback can be ignored by using Surecast/Arms Length. But make sure to be out of Shiva's hit box as well bc the line may still hit you even if you're not next to the targeted person - Sword/Staff/Bow each have a different animation and Shiva also gets a buff with her weapon so you can quickly tell which is which. Sword animation = straight up and down. Staff animation = up and spin. Bow happens every other weapon I believe, and she'll go up and down with a thin line in her hands (the bow) - if you can't find the icicle aoe safe spot, eat 1 vuln - to prep for arrows in Phase 3, tanks can eat the 1 icicle impact to keep her north since arrows typically follows immediately after Mentor Roulette has prepared me for this moment :DDD

I generally like your visual guides. They are succinct and clear and points are explained well. A couple of suggestions to improve them though particularly with respect to this guide. I have had to pause the video quite a few times. Speaking a little more slowly to facilitate absorption of information would be helpful. You often did bullet points on the videos; this one doesn't have them and it seems to be a fight that might benefit from the addition. The explanation of the increased complexity (patterns) in the third stage wasn't clear to me, I'm not sure if it's just me or if others have also experienced confusion. I've been away for several months and am behind on content; a guide is always helpful and your guides are uniformly excellent. Thank you.
i worry more about the queue times being 1-2 hours to get into one fight with shiva xD im thinking of waiting next expansion so lvl70 and do shiva unsycned with a friend lol
I know how you feel. I feel like a noob but having a chill group it'll be okay. I wish I can help you guys. Shiva is fairly easy compared to a number of HW primals ;u;
ya, the HW primals have gotten really crazy. But the older primals have a quick learning curve. watch the video. fail with the first group and you'll be an expert in the second

Two things to add. Firstly, during phase 3 she will randomly choose between sword and staff when it is time to move out of icicles. You can tell which stance she takes to react appropriately by the way she rises. If she goes straight up, it is sword. If she twirls while rising, it is staff. Secondly, you can decide to ignore the titanesque icicles and continue dpsing while staying center. One stack of the vulnerability debuff will hardly do much and usually will fall off by time the same mechanic comes around.
I've been working hard on learning this fight and for me, the floor patterns are by far the worst part of this fight. I've been doing my best but man, it's really tough to see where those safe points are sometimes!

Really glad to see you mentioned how the icicles have two patterns in Phase 3, when I learned that it make knowing where to run much easier, and not reactive.

You explain everything perfectly in say 7 minutes, and MrHappy takes 7 minutes just to introduce his videos. I'd rather wipe a hundred times before I sit through 20 minutes of him babbling on. transparent91 Neither is better than the other. It's just a matter of personal preference and learning styles. Personally, I find it handy to watch MTQ if I expect to queue a while in duty finder and want some idea of what's ahead, and Mr Happy if I've got more time and want more detail.
For phase 3 Circle Boms some groups prefer to move Shiva to the North and run around accordingly to appearing circles, then wait for middle to explode and move back in :)
Did this blind in the group finder. Now that I've watched this guide, I understand why half the people who jumped in quit when they saw which one it was. Ah well, I had fun :D

What about those 4 monsters she summons do we try to get rid of them before we take on her or we just focus on her or we focus on both of them? This is just so hard to understand and process this information
anyone else have issues with the aoes? im walking out of them with like a second to spare but i still get hit. the server ticks feel really bad on it compared to newer fights

Just fought her for the first time for like an hour and we kept gettin her down to like 5% to 3% hp, was soul crushing to see the timer run out.
I want to do this to get the mount but I'm scared of disappointing my team and being "that guy" who is clueless and dies 24/7.
