@@My24hradventure Wim Hof is a con artist. It was discovered he has unnaturally high levels of brown fat. So they tested his brother who doesn't cold swim and he too had incredibly high levels of brown fat. See people who stroll into cold water? Yup, high brown fat. There is a specific type of meditation that can assist, but the only way of improving is just going in and doing it regularly. I do it all year. I used to struggle in summer but I've overcame the mental block. I still get the cold shock but not as bad as I used to. It's very rewarding and therapeutic. Numbs the physical pain, eliminates the anxiety and gives me a boost. Could be placebo but whatever it is: it's beautiful. Vice did a good article on it.
God put me here to give vegetarian food a good name! But there are plenty of spots like that up in Loch Awe and there are also little islands you can Kayak too :)

Hi Lisa! I saw the little islands and I've seen other pics/videos of people kayaking to the islands and camping there. They even had little sandy beaches. Have you been to any of them?

@@MontyOutdoors I really like loch Ard, it's a small loch with a bothy in the island and has a wee river bit in it, great for just starting out but Loch lomond is good Arisaig is great, I spose it depends on what type of kayaking you intend on doing
@@MontyOutdoors if your doing rivers start with a grade 1, I quite like a wee canal as well, the spey way and great canoe trail can be fun also, so many places to choose from lol
I have two backpacks, one is 55l the other is 80l. Plus there were 2 others on this trip so not all equipment is mine. But I am NOTORIOUS for overpacking and carrying too much. Which I won't be doing again on the West Highland Way...

Hey I have a question. I'm camping at loch awe next Friday, are you allowed to wild camp there and have a controlled fire? I'm asking because through reading my fishing permits T&Cs it state about no fires and camping unless accepted by land owner? Didn't think the loch was owned by anyone bar two fisheries? Thanks

I am notorious for carrying a lot of weight, Martin. However, I went camping this weekend and it was the lightest to date and I even used a 55l backpack!

I used to do a lot of pike fishing and had a big umbrella I used to sleep under. Moved around the Loch. I have been coming to Scotland since I was 6yr old and over the years been up and down the west coast. 👍

Mine was good would be murder to cook on tho only get about 20min which would be enough time but would have to be rapid plus I'm a bit of a chef and its only good for solo use. Basically got it for an emergency heat source if I need it. U will be happy to know I invested in a jetboil too lol with the attachments for a pan so all sorted. Will try and email a vid over if possible 👍

It's right next to a main road and there's a hidden parking spot that you can park a couple of cars in. We head there when we want an easy camp.
