    It’s the 21st Century. We like to be connected. The Sena 3S-W and Sena 3S-B Bluetooth Headsets are a great way to do just that for those who spend their time on two-wheels. Streamlined, easy to use, and well-functioning, the 3S communication units from Sena afford clear and crisp communicative features that allow for audio playback, intercom communication in full duplex, and hands-free phone calls. Sena also does a great job of offering options, with the 3S-W (wired microphone) and the 3S-B (boom microphone), each providing a segment of riders with their preferred setup.

    Son of a momma! The guy at the dealership said I could pair 2 of 3 of these devices together! spent an hour trying to pair mine with my kids when I could have come to TH-cam and learned in 2 minutes that it can't be done. I will be taking these back and looking for new ones that can pair 3 or 4 at the same time.

      the smh10R can pair at least 4, pretty complicated but nice quality and battery life.

    I own both models, both of them works well and very easy to use and battery really lasts. the only problem i have or perhaps noticed is that the 3SB model has somewhat louder speakers and on a modular helmet it makes sense but on the 3SW the speakers are a bit low in volume, if you take a call you really have to slow down to be able to hear properly.... But i would recommend them anytime...

    • @sooriyah007
      @sooriyah007 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is this true? Wouldn't they be the same speakers? I want to get both as well for 2 different types of helmets. But if the audio is better in the 3sb might as well go for that only

      +Forza300Man The Sena 3S does not have the capability to do that. You would need at least the SMH10, SMH10R, 10S, 10R, or 20S. -DrewZilla

      +RevZilla Unfortunately I realized this after getting it and setting it all up. All is not lost though, it just means we cannot record both of us onto the GoPro at the same time, which is not a big deal. Either I do a motovlog gopro vid, or I chat with my passenger. It's all good.

    Can this be paired up to the Sena GoPro audio pack while talking to other riders?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rex4x4 First, keep in mind that the 3S can only have an intercom conversation with one other communicator. Also know that the 3S has a limited range of 200m (and that's the maximum range in perfect conditions). The 3S is really designed as a rider-to-passenger intercom. As the 3S only has one intercom connection, it cannot be used with the Sena GoPro Audio Pack. You would need to use a 10-series or 20S communicator for that functionality. -DrewZilla

    Hey guys, great video and review, as usual but I've actually found the 3S-B a major PITA to use with a modular helmet (Nolan N91). The buttons on the boom are impossible to use with the helmet closed and you can't be expected to open it at full speed (or any speed, really). If the buttons had been facing the... well, face... it would have been easier perhaps, but facing up as they are, operating it gets extremely fiddly and annoying. I'd say that the 3S-B is much more suitable for an open face helmet.
    Sena must have also recognised this because if you look on their website, they've just added the 3S-WB model, which has a boom mic but external controls like the 3s-W. For me that's the perfect layout for a modular and can't wait to get one.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      garp04 I totally agree and am definitely awaiting the 3S-WB release. No firm ETA from Sena yet, but it should be soon. -DrewZilla

    • @theperfectstrangers4626
      @theperfectstrangers4626 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      They have now released a model that is a fine mixture of the two. It is a boomed mic but with the same controller as the 3S-W!

    • @garp04
      @garp04 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The Perfect Strangers Yes, I've been using the 3S-WB model since last november when it came out here in Europe and it works beautifully with a modular helmet from an ergo point of view. Unobtrusive and super-easy to use (the 3S-B model is even less obtrusive, since nothing sticks out from the helmet but I found the controls unusable on a modular helmet with chinbar closed).
      It's got limitations of course, as Anthony points out in the review, but for a solo rider, a commuter, or a rider+pillion scenario, it's awesome value for money. The quality of the audio during phone calls is incredible, very often people can't tell that I'm riding a bike (and I ride either a naked or a sport-touring bike, both with sport exhausts) and it just never drops the bluetooth connection, while pairing with the telephone takes just a second every time I turn it on. I use it mostly to get directions from the GPS on my phone, which is tucked in my pocket, to listen to the radio while commuting, and to pick up the occasional calls. It really cannot be faulted for these tasks: the audio is extremely clear and it can pump out more volume that you'll ever need.
      It's true that for listening to music it's only adequate, at best. But when riding a naked bike with a sport exhaust without db killer, while wearing a noisy helmet and ear plugs... well, high-fidelity didn't stand much of a chance to begin with.
      And to address some of the other comments I've read in this thread, it is absolutely waterproof. I live in a country where it rains literally all the time (ok, right now it's snowing, but still...) and I commute on my bike no matter what. Many times I've arrived at the office absolutely soaked from head to toes but I've never had any issue with the controls of the 3S-WB on my helmet.

    Dear RevZilla. I've been looking for a small BT Headset for my Schuberth sr1. This seems like a small enough to fit. Have you fitted it with SR1 by any chance? I am worried it will squeeze my ears a bit. Thanks in advance for your advice.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Pawel Modrzejewski The Sena 3S has thicker speakers due to the integrated electronics, so they'll likely be too thick for the SR1. Instead, you may want to consider the wider but thinner speakers used with Sena 10R. The 10R controller is still low profile, so it won't hang off the side of the helmet. -DrewZilla

    Can you talk to a pillion passenger and the two of use listen to music at the same time and if the phone rings, can I answer it ?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +A1 Pest Service The Sena 3S series does not support audio sharing, so each of you would need to be paired to your own phone/audio player. That means you'd each listen to your own music separately. If one of you initiates an intercom conversation, both users' music automatically pauses. When one of you ends the intercom conversation, the music resumes. If you're having an intercom conversation and your phone rings, you can accept the call (which ends the intercom conversation) or reject the call (which allows the intercom conversation to continue). If you and your passenger want to listen to the same music, I'd recommend stepping up to the Sena SMH5. If you both want to listen to music while simultaneously having an intercom conversation, you would need to step up to the top-of-the-line Sena 20S. -DrewZilla

    Hi, I have a pair of 3SWBs that I just bought for my girlfriend and I for our brand new Bell rev evo flip up helmets. She rides pillion on my bike, and we found we were having lots of trouble hearing each other speak, both volumes were full and the boom mics were right in front of our mouths. Only at a standstill could we hear each other talking, only barely. Is there anything we can do? Thanks, Sam

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Try using Velcro spacers to move the speakers closer to your ears, and try using earplugs if you don't currently wear them. Cutting wind noise with earplugs can actually help hear the speakers better. -DrewZilla

    • @RevZilla

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Daniel Mallia No, the 3S and most communicators do not allow you to have an intercom conversation and listen to GPS instructions simultaneously. For that, you need "Audio Multitasking" or "Parallel Audio Streaming", and currently, the only communicators that offer that are the Sena 20S and Cardo PackTalk. -DrewZilla

    So, if I understand correctly, I can`t pair 2 of these units together and, at the same time, be paired to a phone to listen to music/take calls?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** No, that is incorrect. You can pair two 3S units together while also being paired to a mobile phone and Bluetooth audio device (which could also be a phone if it's a smartphone). I think the confusion stems from the fact that you cannot be on a phone call, have an intercom conversation, and listen to music simultaneously. If you are listening to music and you or your partner starts an intercom conversation, your music pauses so you can use the intercom. When the intercom conversation is ended, the music resumes. If you're listening to music or having an intercom conversation and the phone rings, you answer or reject the call. If you answer the call, your music pauses if listening to music or your intercom is ended if on intercom. Hope this clears it up! -DrewZilla

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you just need a basic communicator, then yes it's ok for the original Neotec. The speakers are thick and don't sound as nice as the next tier up. You might consider the Cardo Freecom 1+ for better sound quality. -DrewZilla

    i don't think this is good idea. because you got the bluetooth stuff built right into the speakers. So it's going to RIGHT next to you head all that time. I usually go out and ride for fun for at least 45min but mot of the time for 1 hour easily. So having bluetooth signals come to head that close for a hour EVERYTIME you ride is probably not good for your brain. just my thoughts. I really liked this. but i don't think i will get it because of this reason

    • @RevZilla
