I just bought and installed the 10U on my Shoei Neotec. Best $270 I've spent in a while. Easy installation. Took me about 20 mins. And it's plenty loud. Perfect Bluetooth system for the Neotec

It's a little flatter and not as loud but not much of difference honestly.
BUYER BEWARE: The 10u battery is not replaceable. Unless the battery dies within the warranty period, and the complete unit is replaced by Sena, you will throw the 10u away!! Anthony, please be a little more honest about the Sena issue of no possible battery replacement by the purchaser.

Agree. They can be replaced with care but Sena told me no replacement was possible. My unit lasted 18 month. A lot of money for 18 months.

It's a very strange design decision about the buttons - seems like in gt air version the buttons will be stuck in peripheral vision. And to press the buttons you will have to open the visor :(
I'm so confused, people keep saying something about the speakers. I've owned an SMH-5FM, a Sena 20s and the 10R and the 10U speakers have more bass and are at least as loud as any of those. Seriously, yesterday a song came on and I actually heard bass and nearly crapped myself. No, all other things are equal - no change in EQ settings, phone or anything.
I was not informed the battery was not replaceable. I would not have bought it if I had been told that.

Just to let you know. The 10u for the Arai is all but useless now and should not be advertised as fitting most full faced Arai Helmets. In order for it to fit, the helmets neck roll must me removable. There are hardly any Arai helmets nowadays (not a single one at my local stockist) with a removable neck roll. They are all glued in place now. I learned the hard way.
I cannot speak for the international market, but here in the US, the Corsair-X, Corsair-V, Quantum-X, Signet-X, RX-Q, Signet-Q, Defiant, Vector 2, and XD-4 all have removable neck rolls. What specific helmets did you look at? -DrewZilla
RevZilla Hi, I've bought it intending to use if on a Chaser Raw V and I also have the Axces 2 and it fits neither. There wasn't a single Arai at local dealer with removable neck roll. Looks now then that the product is aimed at the US market.
Very disappointed that the 10U does NOT work with the XS Shoei Neotec.

Was shopping for a communicator for my brand spanking new RF1200, and was resigned to having something stick out the side of the helmet. But now that I've seen this, no way. I'll wait a few more months, see what people think of it after a while, and hope Sena makes one for the RF1200 soon. I mean, they make one for the Arai full-face, so it shouldn't be too hard making one for the RF... maybe they'll even figure out how to fit the better speakers! **fingers crossed**
+Yannick Kammer-Mayer Just got an email from Sena support saying the Arai FF will work with the RF-1200. Yes, 10U will fit to a Shoei RF-1200 helmets. Since Shoei RF-1200 is a closed type of helmet, you can have the 10U for Arai Full-Face Helmets device.

Hi DrewZilla, I have an question about the speakers. Anthony mentions on 5:05 that the speakers are from the SMH10R for Shoei and Arai. But he did not say that this the fact for the Schubert C3. Can you confirm that Sena 10U for the Schubert C3 has the 20S speakers?

looks like a pain to use while riding, have to left visor to use buttons. Not a fan of the grip mount controller. I like the size but still needs work imo.

I fitted this Sena 10U to my brand new Schuberth C3 pro helmet size 58/59 and the damned thing is to tight at rear of helmet when fitted on my head making wearing helmet a no no as it's so uncomfortable .
I just bought a used C3Pro with this unit installed. I can not get the unit to pair with a phone. Going through the options, the phone pairing and media pairing options never come up. Has anyone had any issues like this before? Is there good tech support somewhere that could help?
In the video, it has been mentioned that the speaker quality of 20S is better than 10U. I checked and saw that I can buy 20S speakers separately. Since I want better sound quality, is it possible to connect 20S speakers to 10U and use with Arai Defiant Jolly Roger Helmet? I will buy according to your response...
No, the 10U speakers are fixed to the rest of the system, so you cannot replace them with 20S speakers. I recommend you consider the Sena 10R instead, which is low-profile and uses the 20S speakers. -DrewZilla

With the Schuberth version I've read some complaints about pressure on the back of the neck where the battery pack sits. Any thoughts on this. Also, as the bar appears to sit right where the exhaust vent is, how does this impact ventilation? Thanks.

No, the 10U is not available for the X-14. It is still only available for the Neotec and GT-Air. The Sena 10R would be the best recommendation, as it's quite low profile and uses the better speakers from the 20S. -DrewZilla

How much does the speaker build up towards the ear? I have bad experience from intercoms building up so much it puts a strain on my ear and ultimately a headache when riding longer distance. I'm thinking about this system on an Schuberth E1 but if there's any risk of constant headache I might go for the Schuberth C4 model instead. Appreciate your inputs!
The E1 has recessed speaker pockets, so the 10U speakers don't protrude much into the space around your ears. As far as I can tell, the C4 uses very similar-thickness speakers as well. -DrewZilla

Will it fit shoei j cruise?
When we say that there are 3 bluetooth devices that can be synchronised, does this mean I can have 2 mobile phones connected to the device? I use one mobile as a Sat nav whilst the other for phone calls. Will it support 2 mobile.phone connections simultaneous? Thanks for the review
Yes, if you needed to connect multiple cell phones you would be able to. You may need to toggle between which phone has priority during your ride, but it would be connected. RevZilla... I have an Arai Corsair X Helmet. The question is; 10U or 10R? with the remote included, both of them are at the same price. So which one is better? Sound quality?
With the 10U, the speakers are fixed, so you can't upgrade the speakers or use earbuds. The 10R has slightly better speakers to start, and if you want to use earbuds or even better speakers down the line, you can get an adapter for the 10R to use different speakers or earbuds. I have the Schubert C3 pro and looking for a new Bluetooth communication system.At the moment I have the SRC but I hate it, so the sena 10u looks perfect but one thing I did not like with the SRC was the mic because it was always getting in the way,do you think this would be the same with Sena?
Now I found the uclear amp pro, I know this is not stealth but I also like good sound to play my rock music which one of the 2 has loader and best quality sound?
Another good thing is no mic boom and the way you update from the phone as far as I can see Sena does not have this.
If I bought the Sena 10u and if the uclear Pulse Wired Drop-In Helmet Speakers are better quality are they compatible?I realise I may have to cut the wires and splice them, would this be a good option?

To start, the Sena 10U microphone for the C3 Pro does not get in the way like the SRC microphone. You can see the product photo at the link below. As for sound quality, the UCLEAR speakers are a bit better than the Sena speakers. Rather than using the Pulse Plus Speakers, though, I recommend the common hack of using the speakers out of Koss PortaPro headphones. You'd have to splice them to the 10U though. With the UCLEAR AMP Pro, you probably wouldn't need to modify anything. So, if you want the stealth setup, I'd get the 10U and splice the Koss speakers. If you don't want to modify, go with the AMP Pro. -DrewZilla

Does any1 know what is the max working speed of the speakers? Can you hear them at 60mph on an naked bike? like Yamaha FZ1, SuperDuke, Speed triple etc?
+zedIsDead It really depends on your helmet and your own level of hearing (or hearing loss). With an average helmet on a naked bike, it's going to be generally harder to hear at higher speeds. If you have a Schuberth C3 Pro, Shoei Neotec, or Shoei GT-Air, the 10U should be loud enough on a naked bike. -DrewZilla

I purchased an SMH10 (boom mike) a few years ago and paired it with my Shoei modular Multitec. Recently I got the the newer Shoei Neotec which you use in your demo. I switched the SMH10 to the Neotec. I am finding that the Neotec chin curtain (new feature which I like) catches on the boom mike every time I open/close the chin bar. Does the 10U mike catch on the chin curtain?
+Mister Bean No, the 10U microphone is fully contained inside the helmet, so the 10U would work well. However, if you want to keep your SMH10, have you considered just getting a new helmet clamp kit that includes the hybrid boom microphone? The hybrid boom mounts inside the helmet behind the left cheekpad, so it doesn't have to snake outside the helmet. Take a look at the link below for the clamp kit (you would not use the little button microphone that also comes with the clamp kit, as that button microphone is only for full-face helmets). -DrewZilla

Concerning what you mentioned about the speakers on the shoei, if I go with the 20s will those speakers fit in the speaker cutouts on the shoei?....thanks for the info.
With the 20S speakers, they're larger in diameter than the cutouts, so you'll need to use the included spacers to fill the cutout. That brings the speakers closer to your ears, which actually can be better. -DrewZilla
I sweat a lot so would that moisture damage this system? I have the klim kronos helmet, how good does the music sound? This has noise canceling but can I still hear horns or traffic around me?
Even if you sweat, the 10U will be fine. I assume you mean the Klim Krios, and for the Krios, the music sounds pretty decent. The speakers don't have noise canceling, though. It's the microphone that has noise canceling. You will definitely still hear horns and traffic. -DrewZilla

I have the r1200rt and i have been able to have it pair up and play, but 2 things...1: the jog dial doesn't control the volume in the helmet. You need to use the remote control for that. 2: the BMW Bluetooth transmitter is crap, so it doesn't sound as good as the BT from your phones MP3 player. So i use it for my Sena Prism camera and Samsung phone/mp3 and use my BMW radio for music from the speakers when cruising slowly. But it will work. Maybe I'm just too picky. Enjoy!

+NiekkieNick You could install the Sena 3S-WB, but it has fewer features. For example, it's only designed for one short-range rider-to-passenger connection. There aren't any more affordable options for the Schuberth with the same features and internal integration like the 10U. The SMH10R has similar features, and it has a low-profile controller. The Sena 3s has one big advantage, and that is the thickers speakers.
I purchased the Sena smh5 here in my country ( Netherlands) because it haa the best price/quality ratio for me.
Had some troubles installing this headset into my Schuberth c3 Pro. The neckroll is the biggest problem of my helmet. Solved it by routing the wire through the neckroll. Made a small opening in the neckroll to achieve this.
Also I had to use the clamp which sticks to the helmet.

Yes, each version of the 10U can be used without the handlebar remote, but it's easier to operate via the handlebar remote. For example, you would need to open the face shield on a Shoei or Schuberth helmet in order to access the +/- controls of the 10U. -DrewZilla
I got helmet Shoei GT-AIR and I start thinking about intercom. I have search over the internet and I found Sena 10U for GT-AIR. Is it really worth? or maybe Scala made something really good so it would be nice to consider. Can you compare it and what would you commend. Thanks
If you want a fully integrated communicator for the GT-Air, then yes, the 10U is worth it. Cardo does not sell the SHO-1 here in the United States, so we cannot provide a real world comparison between the SHO-1 and 10U though. The Cardo SHO-1 takes up more space outside the helmet, which is why I prefer the Sena 10U integration. -DrewZilla

How is compatibility with my friends' Sena 20S?
+tzalwelzijn All Sena communicators are compatible with other Sena communicators. When a 10U is paired to a 20S, the range is limited to the 1 mile range of the 10U (1 mile is still excellent range for a communicator). -DrewZilla
Can anyone let me know if the 10u will fit inside a Shoie Hornet DS helmet? also does it feature the ability to communicate with people using none Sena products? I think the 10R and 20S does have this ability.

As for cross-brand communication, yes, the 10U can be paired with one non-Sena Bluetooth communicator. Sena calls this "universal intercom pairing". Do you have to use the remote?
It depends which version you have, since there are a few versions for a few specific helmet models. For Arai full-face helmets, there is a small controller that mounts on the left side of the helmet. For the Shoei Neotec, Shoei GT-Air, and Schuberth versions, there is a small controller as part of the microphone mount, but you have to fully open your face shield to use those buttons. Those buttons are really just for turning the communicator on and off or if you really don't want to use the remote. However, it's really more convenient to use the remote. -DrewZilla

+OMW2 Fyb The 20S is still the most feature-packed Sena communicator. The 10U shares functionality with the SMH10 but adds support for the included handlebar remote. The Sena 20S also supports the handlebar remote but is available separately. The Sena 10C is also based on the SMH10, so not counting the camera, the 10C functions like an SMH10. The 20S has a longer range and adds audio multitasking. That allows you to listen to music and have an intercom conversation simultaneously. With other Sena communicators, your music is paused when an intercom conversation is initiated. Therefore, if you want the most features, I recommend the 20S. -DrewZilla

An absolutely terrible headset. Constantly loses connection to the phone and the tft screen. Multiple phones and two different bikes same problem. Stay clear and buy something else.
