I had one when I was 14 and it was great! They changed the porting and pipe over the 74 and it really made it ridable. You could ride wheelies because the power was progressive and smooth. I had Luft shocks, a Terry kit fork and a Turner pipe and it was killer!
Love the video. I just read one comment that said this was an MT. I noticed the engine didn't have the snort my old 74 Elsinore had. I remember the first test ride at the dealership. I got off the bike and I was literally shaking, had to buy it right then. What an adrenaline rush compared to my Suzuki TM 125 that i had been racing. That Elsinore gave me a rush more than any bike I've owned since, close second was my old 86 cr500. Thanks for the video brother.
Had a 76 in the 90s, it was sitting in someone's yard. Thing has points, originally didn't have a working set so drilled holes in an 81 CR250 magneto and put it on and got the thing running. My friend also bought a 1975 Honda MR250 and we went riding. That thing was just raw power, had it full wound out on the road. Didn't have any brakes on it though, no rear brake rod.
Remember when Dirt Bikes came with Side stands and we didn't have to look for a tree or fence to lean it against or worse not finding anything to lean it against you just laid it down and cursed when trying to get the sucker running again with a flooded engine. What everyone forgets is just how light these early Motocrossers were like CR 125 's were crazy light as lite if not lighter than current 85 motocrossers and so despite lacking in suspension tech and brakes as well you could take them by the scruff of the neck and ride the tires off them just as being demoed here
Had a 73 cr250m, kickstart down and then the gearbox so got a 74 KX250 with a high pipe from Japan fitted to it, what a weapon that was. Also had a 73 works RH250 Suzuki that was mostly magnesium and points ignition, kept up with RM400’s .
Best thing about these old air hammers is you can bore them out. Add new shocks. Upgrade certain parts like better brakes. We rode the woods and raced these in the 70's. Honda had a great engine. Yamaha had the best enduros. The RM's had it all and the YZ's. It was a good time.
You did Steve McQueen proud there son ! - terrific video!,when i was 14 i had the 125m elsinore and had a blast on that bike i tell ya,you rid well- stay safe.Paul in Australia.
Thanks for this great video! I was racing from 1975-1984. In’75 I wanted a CR250m so bad but the only thing I could afford was an old used Suzuki TM250. I just love old motocross bikes so I just had to subscribe! Thanks again!
For the love of vintage 2T bikes do restore his Honda., A good wash and then some parts to consider, a new air filter spark plug grips throttle assembly, chain brake sand change all the oils, suspension front and rear, engine and grease all vital areas, steering, swing arm and, fix the dent on the fuel tank. That pipe sand blast it and repaint it. If you wnat to go further have the entire engine soda blasted and leave it raw it will run kooler,, color black attracks more heat due to sunlight., especially air cooled bikes. This will enhance the performance tremendously. Myself an former MX racer form the 70"S Nice riding kid. KUDOS!
Wicked kiddo, I love the 70s tunes in the beginning of the video.. Your gramma is over at our house visiting my mom and she told me you had a new video , so I had to check it out. Now you see not all things from the 70's are old crusty and slow, like your dad and I. Well okay I'll give you old and crusty, but I won't give you slow.. Anyway kiddo keep up the good work on the videos and hopefully I'll see you guys soon...... Old crusty uncle Arden signing out. Later dude....👽
@@theLyzhendricks you're right i just commented before i actually saw it run i thought it was completely clapped out judging by the exterior but it actually sounds good
Almost 50 years old & it runs like it did when it was brand-new !
Nice pick up, well worth the money.

It's like going back home. I'd just clean it up and replace the seat cover. My bikes in the 70s; 73 Penton 175 and 75 Penton 250.
Some decent shocks help immensely !! 😁👍

Love the 2 strokes and your clip rocked. Currently rebuilding a 1973RT 360 into a street scrambler.
For the love of the two stroke Gods, smell and sound, restore it. Lol.... Nice video by the way and thanks.
Looks like it runs the way it was intended too 👍

Restore it and make a video
It's only original once. This bike looks great as is. Maybe just a complete service and overhaul would be good

Looks more like 5-6" at rear.
Be interesting to see how reliable it is.
Make sure piston is not too worn , a failure could ruin a classic.

Things running better than some new bikes lol

Watching this video reminds of the old Maico breakos from that era. Great fun !!

Nice cr try buying a Suzuki tm 400 .that is what you should buy and make a video.look in to it .
I would love to but finding one that is affordable is the hard part!!
If don't kick you off the back it kick ya over the front lol
Ironically, the guys who grew up with 70s bikes can't ride them anymore as the suspension will beat you to pieces !! 😁🤣
