Don't underestimate the Stark and it's 60hp that bike in the right hands will walk all over the KX 500 and it's maybe 45 hp. I hate to say it but the E bikes are here to stay they're the future.

Old bikes have motor don't let one fool you they go good.

Bottom end work is bad . splitting the case ,guys never did .new motor.top end is cake. I'm talking years ago so things might have changed. Anyway Rippp Rippppp 👍

87 was a one off year they changed a lot of things from 86 then changed again in 88

Love the video. I just read one comment that said this was an MT. I noticed the engine didn't have the snort my old 74 Elsinore had. I remember the first test ride at the dealership. I got off the bike and I was literally shaking, had to buy it right then. What an adrenaline rush compared to my Suzuki TM 125 that i had been racing. That Elsinore gave me a rush more than any bike I've owned since, close second was my old 86 cr500. Thanks for the video brother.

How is it running without a crankcase cover?

Looks more like 5-6" at rear. Be interesting to see how reliable it is. Make sure piston is not too worn , a failure could ruin a classic.

It's like going back home. I'd just clean it up and replace the seat cover. My bikes in the 70s; 73 Penton 175 and 75 Penton 250.

Had a 76 in the 90s, it was sitting in someone's yard. Thing has points, originally didn't have a working set so drilled holes in an 81 CR250 magneto and put it on and got the thing running. My friend also bought a 1975 Honda MR250 and we went riding. That thing was just raw power, had it full wound out on the road. Didn't have any brakes on it though, no rear brake rod.

Fantastic bike and so underrated. I had a nearly new 2000 model , ultra reliable and fairly quick , easy to maintain as well.

Remember when Dirt Bikes came with Side stands and we didn't have to look for a tree or fence to lean it against or worse not finding anything to lean it against you just laid it down and cursed when trying to get the sucker running again with a flooded engine. What everyone forgets is just how light these early Motocrossers were like CR 125 's were crazy light as lite if not lighter than current 85 motocrossers and so despite lacking in suspension tech and brakes as well you could take them by the scruff of the neck and ride the tires off them just as being demoed here

Almost 50 years old & it runs like it did when it was brand-new ! Nice pick up, well worth the money.

Had a 73 cr250m, kickstart down and then the gearbox so got a 74 KX250 with a high pipe from Japan fitted to it, what a weapon that was. Also had a 73 works RH250 Suzuki that was mostly magnesium and points ignition, kept up with RM400’s .

One day when I marry Gisele Bundchen, I'll have her buy me a 500.

The Suzuki 500 thats a beautiful bike and my dream bike. I had the 250 version as a kid and remembered seeing the 500 version at the dealer I subbed. Thanks for all the awesome videos

For the love of vintage 2T bikes do restore his Honda., A good wash and then some parts to consider, a new air filter spark plug grips throttle assembly, chain brake sand change all the oils, suspension front and rear, engine and grease all vital areas, steering, swing arm and, fix the dent on the fuel tank. That pipe sand blast it and repaint it. If you wnat to go further have the entire engine soda blasted and leave it raw it will run kooler,, color black attracks more heat due to sunlight., especially air cooled bikes. This will enhance the performance tremendously. Myself an former MX racer form the 70"S Nice riding kid. KUDOS!
