    I’ve ridden both: the S1000R is a sniper rifle, the MT-10 is a flamethrower with a chainsaw attached. Both will kill you dead, but one of them definitely does it with more flair.

    Yamaha is a underrated manufacture... they build very very good tuned bikes...

    Just so you know the ride modes on MT-10 are only the throttle mapping and do not lessen or increase power

    A 2015+ R1 Nissin radial master cylinder is a drop in upgrade for the axial MT-10 master. Reuse the OEM MT-10 brake light switch and you retain all the cruise control functionality. Another small tip is to flip the handlebar risers 180 degrees, they have a small offset to the rear, so turning them will give you a small offset to the front for a slightly sportier riding position. For quicker turn in adjust the front end geometry by dropping the the forks in the triple clamp one or two notches. Alternatively a 2015+ R1 rear shock will drop in and has ride height adjustability to raise the rear up a touch.

    MT wins my heart for the sound. I had an S1000XR. It was a quick bike but had no character.

    A tune would make you feel different about your mt10. You “think” you have all the power, you’d be surprised how restricted it comes from the factory when looking at the factory throttle maps. (S1000R restrictions are higher) which is why it feels slower

    Greg please consider an exhaust mid pipe. That's the best sounding engine in the market, and it's a shame it can't be unleashed. It's a cheap mod too, and can easily be reverted back

    I totally get what you are saying with AI throttle on the 1000R hence why i had my throttle tuned. The first 20-30% throttle twist feels very doughy I could not deal with that anymore. The throttle tune now has that sharpness that lifts up the front wheel in Dynamic mode more instantly rather than waiting for 8-9000RPM. Great video and so true since i can compare these bikes against my close riding buddy who has an MT10 👍🏼

    Wow! I must say, I'm surprised at the differences between these bikes in the real world. I would have thought they would have been more or less the same. This is great information for those comparing these two trying to make a decision as to which would be the best fit for them. Good job Jitsu!

    wanted to upgrade a 2017 mt10 with a 2023 s1000r so test drove one from the dealer and ended disappointed it felt boring without the brute force of the mt10

    Do the levers usually have more adjustability than stock? I just got a Ninja 1000SX, and even at the shortest grip, it’s a bit of a reach for me. I’m smaller at 5’5”. I’ve used Pazzo and CRG levers on my sport bikes before, but this is my first sport touring. I know o had plenty of adjustability with the previous levers.
