Videos like this that tell how to fix something economically are much more enjoyable and helpful than a video about a $10,000 niche attachment. Thank you for still doing videos like this from time to time, Tim.
I have Stage 3: Severe COPD and let me tell you USE A MASK any time your grinding, sanding, sand blasting, painting, any time your suspending stuff in the air.
Good times 👍. Around my area they use to call the Fiberglass in the can tiger hair. Could get it in long strand or short. I was partial to the the short as I could smooth it out better on my old junk cars. I haven’t touched the stuff for years and not sure if that name still stands. 😊
Husband learned fiberglass repair in the coast guard and went into marine trades and says epoxy is the best for repairing fiberglass . He recommends West System Epoxy. Also works great in woodworking. But follow the directions. As he says these resins heat up. If mixed wrong you can get a sever exothermic reaction ,this also applies to standard fiberglass resins
Great video! Loved the audio on this as well! Very calming vibe! Really loved this home DIY fix. As it should be! Don’t see much DIY fixes anymore or Atleast in mainstream media (Television)
Being a burger guy thought you might like this. We made our annual trip to Donaldson's for Christmas chocolates. (Almost waited to late as they were just about out!) While up there we went to Wendy's to get a Son of Baconator and a cup of chili. They gave me a couple of the hot sauce packs for my chili and I decided to try some on my sandwich. That's pretty dang good. Merry Christmas up there, hope you are not dealing with a lot of snow. There was a hole in the big blue splotch over our place and I don't think we got an inch.
Excellent tutorial that isn't just for tractor hoods! Can't wait for the end result. Its great to add to your own repair skill set to keep everything looking new whether you buy a fixer upper or have a few mishaps that need hiding before someone else sees it :)
Excellent work on the Fiberglass repair. I think that Chris has done this once before. Any body work is very time consuming with every step having a waiting period to add to the time. Merry Christmas to All, Tim Christy, Katriel and Chris. Be safe the next few days.
Good video Tim, when I got out of high school I went too work at a chev. Dealer in the body shop. And wouldn’t you know they wanted somebody to work on the Corvette I was there monkey so for years and years I did fiberglass work. That was in 1966, Hardwork and very slow to complete.
you might have been able to reuse the door and window seal as most of the time the spring steel clips just get sprung a little. take a pliers and clamp the seal down and use a rubber mallet to get it to fit on the door.
Pretty sure this will work well. This stuff is tough…and the break wasn’t in a typical stress location. Shouldn’t get hit like that again unless I run into something with the side of the cab.
It’s good to have friends like that. I do not have the patience to do the Finnish work to make that look as good as it is going to turn out. You might owe him some more cheeseburgers :).
Our 3046r has the rear window seal attached to the glass and not the cab. Also, our ac condenser is always clogged with dust after rotary cutting because it gets around the cab filter. Does anyone have any idea on how to help the filter seal to the cab for better dust prevention in the cab? Great video Tim! God Bless you and your family.
We plan to look at the sealing and insulation of the cab a/c when we go back together. I believe we need to insulate the roof…I think will help the cooling system a lot!
@@TractorTimewithTim yeah, here in Texas the AC is mediocre at best after it gets above 90 degrees. Running the blower slowly produces colder air but it’s not enough volume to keep the cab cool and then when running it full blast the air can’t cool off enough because half of the plenum is the green roof that heats up from the sun. I thought about wrapping the roof in some type of white paint protection films like you can put on cars to reflect the sun...but then it’ll be white.
Them hoods are expensive. I had to order a upper and lower hood for GT235 And 4 decals and I that was not everything for the hood just what I needed. That was almost 8 hundred dollars. Everything for a new hood would have been over 1 thousand dollars
Every one working with fiberglass needs to wear a mask, it will do damage to the airway and lungs. Some people mostly smokers may not notice the symptoms as much.
I do like the videos. But not wearing respirators is a bad example. I am most sensitive to these smell. Guess how I got there? Not wearing a respirator.
This is one of the reasons I stayed away from JD way too much plastic and fiberglass panels. This job should have really been done with fiberglass cloth and resin on the inside so as to put some strength back into that area and then fiberglass reinforce Bondo could of been just used on the out side

Agreed
Been in autobody repair for over 20 years. I can tell your neighbor Chris knew what he was doing 👍
Ues a rubber mallet and tap the seals onto the flange, makes it very easy to install those seals.
Very interesting project. Looks like you got a great friend.

What a great episode. Chris is an excellent teacher.

The kitty love always makes the videos just that little bit better
Having done some fiberglass repairs I would be very comfortable with that repair.
It's amazing he knows so well how to do this, he can do it wearing a nice clean blue dress shirt! Wow!
He always wears those shirts. Just his style.

Very close to us!
Not much snow…but -11 this morning!
I really enjoyed this video, Chris explained the process very well.
I’m guessing Chris has done this before ;-) Very well explained and executed. Good team. Blessings to all.
Excellent tutorial learned alot cant wait for the finished product

Thank you for this great education.
Just AMAZING how well "frameless" glass doors hold up. Would really dislike to buy a new one. You guys did a good job.
Great job so far on the fiberglass repair, it'll look like new when it's done.

That's a first for me. Hearing someone spell out NAPA.
Me too!

Chris said most of his experience was on Corvettes.
Great video Tim!
Patience is important for nice body work, or you need thick paint (my go to).

Great video Tim. You’ll have to remind us on Chris’s back ground.
Not sold on the plastic still love metal (on the orange)!
Merry Christmas!
Nice job old boy that's going to come out great 👍🏼
Nice work. Patience. Thank you
good job
i am just getting ready to repair my JD plastic mower hood. This was a good tutorial for that. But just JD green spray paint to finish
Merry Christmas love the video
Repair was nice, I would have used a fiberglass sheet and real resin though. I'm sure this will be fine though.
Pretty sure this will work well. This stuff is tough…and the break wasn’t in a typical stress location. Shouldn’t get hit like that again unless I run into something with the side of the cab.
I was thinking the same for the back side. That fiberglass body filler is pretty strong though, it should hold
i was going to recommend drilling at the end of the crack but looks like your fren is well versed

Really interesting...Kudos!
This is the first time I ever seen a DeWalt tool on this channel
Ha! I have a Dewalt drill/driver. Good one!
Merry Christmas

Those John Deere tractors are good at cracking hoods that’s for sure
The stuff on the new tractors is incredibly strong
I thought the John Deere plastic was polycarbonate. Use of plastic staples helps stabilize the crack.
Very Nice! WooWHOO
Those cab roofs are expensive, if you can find them.
The door is now gotten tight as my dad would say
Tim, are you taking lessons to become a teacher for your fans on tractor repairs? :)
The shadetree mechanic way.
Great job and video. It would be to have a link to the products that you used or the exact brands for the fiberglass repair. Thank you.
I didn’t have them. Sorry. Maybe I can update later. …and BTW, we almost always provide links. Your comment implies that we do not.
@@TractorTimewithTim Sorry Tim, I know you do a great job on providing links to products featured. Best regards
He was using the Bondo brand short strand fiberglass filler. You can get that anywhere. Walmart has it. Even the Sanding block and paper
@@russellg5849 Thank you very much!
Good stuff. I thought Chris was in law enforcement. Not auto body.
Chris is into everything!

Either that or you use kubota hoods which dent from the smallest particles
@@chasetemple3129 I wouldn't own a Kubota even if it was given to me.
Lot of plastic on the Deere tractors.
