Great reaction Steven!! Karen (RIP) was spectacular on the skins! Her feel was so natural & smooth - never overplaying, always in service of the song - but it was still complex at times - much like her voice! Honestly, a truly gifted musician, taken far, FAR too soon! Cheers!
@kevmodee1866 Karen was comfortable behind her kit. She was very uncomfortable front and center, a few rude comments by reporters and industry insiders about her weight. Started her into wanting weight loss. Remember in the late 60s early 70s Twiggy was considered the hot babe. So body image as a performer was stressed. But behind her drums she didn't feel so spotlighted.
My dad was a nightclub entertainer with a partner, and he would sing and play the drums while his partner was on the piano. I sing but could never get how he (my father) could do both at the same time.
I asked my drummer/singer brother what goes on in his brain when he's doing both and he says what brain? I just do it 🤔 I've never seen this video before so thanks to all who requested it 🎶🎵💚
💯 FYYYYYRRRRR STEVEN!!! 😊 ANYTIME YOU CAN DO THOSE ( 70-71 ) BBC CONCERT VIDEO CLIPS YOU CAN'T GO WRONG! 👍ELTON JOHN, NEIL YOUNG, JAMES TAYLOR, JONI MITCHELL, AND SEVERAL OTHERS STEVEN, ALSO THE ( MIDNIGHT SPECIAL, OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST, ) OR EVENNNN MUSIC TO VIDEO, YOU GET A 2-FER THAT WAY, YOU GET THE ORIGINAL RECORDING AND THE VIDEO OF IT LOTSA TIMES, ANYWAY YEAH! 😊TAKE GREAT CARE!
When I saw "Beatles Cover" I thought sure it would be "Ticket to Ride." I don't think I've ever heard them do this song before. As always, I love the harmonies of the background singers. My first impression is to love it, though I am pretty fussy about Beatle covers. 😉
You mentioned that you heard that Karen Carpenter had "Perfect Pitch". On TH-cam, Wings of Pegasus did several videos analyzing Karen's voice using pitch monitors. The titles of two of his videos sums up his results perfectly.... "Comparing Karen Carpenter's LIVE and STUDIO vocals JUST BLEW MY MIND!!" "If auto-tune was HUMAN, look no further. Karen Carpenter was on a DIFFERENT PLANET." You should check them out.
Let's Gooo! She was so talented. Since you're covering the Beatles Oh Darling please 🙏 Also please check out Tragically Hip New Orleans is sinking studio version. Great reaction and Peace out Steven ☮️ ✌️ 🙏
G'day mate I know your a drummer and love drummers You might want to look this one up Both are on drums Karen carpenter vs John Bonham Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
Another Beatles' song they covered is "Ticket to Ride" which I think is better than this one. Some will argue and debate about Karen's ability as a drummer compared to those like John Bonham and Ginger Baker, who are GOATs, but I definitely agree she belongs on the same list with them. Two of my favorites "singing drummers" are Don Henley of the Eagles, and his solo career, and Levon Helm of The Band.
Gday mate I have a question for you being a drummer When imwatch these older clips Ive noticed their drum kits seem to be bigger sets then today Or am i mistaken and just they way there layed out Also the sound seems different louder and deeper sound Im not musical at all just how im hearing it May well be just recording back then compared to todays Or my dodgy ears just noticed this on multiple different times With different bands and drummers Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
She was the happiest while playing the drums!
A talent like Karen only comes once in a lifetime, and I'm so glad I was living at the same time to enjoy her abilities........
Carpenter's version of Beatles Ticket to Ride is amazing!! Love your channel
I saw them live many times in the 70's and Karen was ALWAYS fun to watch. She smiled so much while playing her drums.
Wow awesome!!!

Great reaction this is a great way to start my birthday today ✌️& ❤️
They also covered 'Ticket to ride'.
Thank you for sharing this one! I had no idea this even existed. No idea they had ever covered this song. And what a unique arrangement.
If you haven't yet check out The Carpenters doing Please Mr Postman, another Beatles cover and a good one, great reaction
I still believe if they had let her stay on the drums .. she'd still be on earth.
What would that have to do with her Anorexia?

You're welcome
@@ivansavoie3190 Thanks so much for your generosity! Really appreciate that!
Their entire group was amazing! So much out there!
John Lennon said he really liked their take on this song
No, John said he liked Deep Purple's version, which is done the way he wanted to do it. The Beatles version was fast as it was going to be a single.

Robin Gibb nailed that one.😊
Such a talent
Be sure to watch the song from the same concert ''Mr. Guder'' !
Wow wow wow
Listen to Superstar. How could thay take the drums away from her!
One take Karen
I think you're that guy that people say "Don't I know you from somewhere?" You look like somebody I know but I don't know who it is! LOL!!!
Her brother Richard had to push her to get from behind the drums and sing.
G'day mate

While I love to watch her play the drums and sing, I didn't care for their version of this song.
Wish they didn't have a backup drummer...don't get it
