John knew without Freddie the band had come to an end ! The beyond belief front man gave the world queen with his immaculate sound of his voice !! His charisma and connection to his audiences , his singing ,his talking to them , his laughing with them and his swearing amongst them 😆 was Freddie’s individuality that made him so unforgettable to the rest of queen ! John in loving respect for Freddie did not want to continue because his behaviour to the people bought out what he set out to accomplish his glory for the best and once that’s gone the rest can’t follow ❤✨💫🌟
I realize the topic isn't focused on this, but I want to reiterate that Deacon was essential to the sound of the band beyond just is musicianship and songwriting. He was trained in electronics and helped design/build some of the equipment that both he and Brian May used. There are a lot of elements that give a band their character, and John was responsible for more than most folks would ever realize as most biographies gloss over the technical stuff. The whole band was incredibly well educated and often applied a great deal of technical knowledge and skills to what they did as musicians. For example, Brian May built his Red Special guitar with his father. The wiring of it is unlike standard instruments, and that also helped make the band versatile in their genre-hopping approach. Specifically, May's guitar has single coil pickups, but any two (or all three) can be selected, which itself is unusual. (By contrast, a Stratocaster only allows two pickups at a time, and that's just the middle pickup with either of the other two. You can't get the "outside" pickups at the same time with the standard wiring configuration.) Additionally, when more than one pickup is selected, they're wired together in series. (By contrast, Stratocasters always combine the pickups in parallel.) Series wiring is what mainly gives humbucking pickups their power, which is why you see guitars equipped with them in genres that use heavier sounds. This allowed May to play a guitar that could sound like a Strat or Telecaster, then switch to more of a Les Paul sound without swapping instruments. If that was enough already, he also added phase switches that allowed the signal from any pickup to be cancelled against the signal from the other pickup(s). Since those signals are different, it doesn't entirely cancel out, and the result is a unique sound that you can hear on many Queen albums. I believe the result of the wiring gives a total of 21 possible configurations, whereas you only have 5 options with a Stratocaster and 3 with a stock Les Paul. Having a range of guitar "voices" is likely why May so often arranged guitars to be orchestrated in layers. Their multifaceted talents had a direct impact beyond what casual fans realize.
It’s moving to see that John has so much heart and feeling and isn’t ruled by money or a need to be relevant and famous. Says a lot about his character.
I can understand John feeling that no matter how good the front man might be, it wouldn't be the same as playing along with his best friend. Roger and Brian had already gigged together in Smile before Freddie came along, so they came as a package. John needed Freddie by his side to enjoy the experience. By the way, I don't know when this script was written but Brian's not going to be embarking on any world tours this soon after a pretty major stroke, he needs to rest first.
I’m a huge Queen fan but Queen is not Queen without Freddie ! I’d say the same if John, Roger or Brian had passed. Thank you Queen for the most amazing music ❤️❤️
What no mention of Paul Rodgers and straight to Adam Lambert? Paul Rodgers was excellent and a proper rock singer. Good on John Deacon - very fine player and songwriter.
if you were lucky enough to have seen Paul with Queen that's how it was billed "Queen with Paul Rodgers" not just Queen as with Lambert singing. Queen with Paul tour included a smattering of Bad Co. songs as well as Free. Paul was never a member of Queen.
@@tyitinanot6130 I agree. Paul Rodgers never even attempted to replace Freddy. He was a rock star in his own right and brought a different dimension and interpretation to the songs but he wisely moved on afterwards. To me the Adam Lambert fronted band is now really just a shadow of the classic line up. I think I'd rather go and see a tribute band.
As far as I'm concerned it's like carrying on without Mick Jagger or Roger Daltry. Without them, there would be no Rolling Stones and no The Who. They are both fabulous, iconic front men of two of the best rock outfits ever. Same goes for Queen. Without Freddie, it's not Queen. I don't care what anyone says, it simply ain't Queen. I can fully understand why John Deacon ' Jacked It All In ' . He's even said Freddie can't be replaced and I'm in total agreement with him. When Freddie died, Queen also died. Period. 😢
Top geezer john is Fair play It's not queen without freddie n john It's the Brian may n roger taylor band They shouldn't go around calling themselves queen bec they ain't End of.
Queen was only the best band in the world, with all 4 members. Once Freddie died, the soul and heart left the band. Adam Lambert just can not replace Freddie. Freddie was one of a kind. His talent is irreplaceable. RIP Freddie, you are still sadly missed, but never forgotten. Queens music is timeless.
@Herman I meant lesser known compared to songs like You're my best friend, I want to break free and Another one bites the dust. You could play these to non Queen fans and I suspect they would know the songs but Spread your wings not so much so I agree it was a single but still lesser known compared to John Deacon's more well known songs.
No offense to Adam Lambert, but Queen is no longer Queen after the loss of Freddie. I’ve been listening to Queen for 40 years, but not once did I intentionally listen to the “post Freddie” Queen.
Can't stand these bands who try to carry on, after the loss of a front man. A lot of Freddy's life was alien to me. However, he was the 'trade mark' of Queen. Without him, it's just another group of musicians.
Queen had many trademarks and wasn’t just Freddie. And he has been kept alive through their music, Roger and Brian performance the songs and Roger and Brian are pretty special musicians to me.
Queen finished years ago for me. For those who never saw Queen i get it. They get to see Brian and Roger play the songs . If it actually was Queen they wouldn't say with Adam Lambert. When Bob Scott died it wasn't AC/DC with Brian Johnson.
I think it would be a massive advantage to Brian and Roger to get John back - however if that's what John wants, then so be it. The biggest thing affecting Queen's original musical output besides John, is lacking the original piano as a compositional tool. Freddie was an excellent song-writer. Adam is an outstanding performer and a great fit for Queen. However, the lack of piano driving songs is a gap for any new music.
Queen should have called it quits when Freddie died. Their legacy was great from 70s and 80s. I'm sorry, as much as I like Paul Rodgers in Free and Bad Company, he is not a Queen singer at all and didn't need to sully his own great legacy replacing the irreplaceable. Never listened to anything by Queen after Freddie Mercury, it's pointless. The type of people who go and watch them are like the chicken in a basket crowd who went to see Elvis or Sinatra in Vegas in the 70s.
i like queen but i only really have much respect for john deacon and freddie mercury. brian may and roger taqylor have turned queen into a money making cash cow, deacon made his money and just wants a quiet life.
I think Deacon took Freddie's death the hardest and he rightfully understood that Queen died with Freddie. Roger and Brian simply can't let go of the limelight and being "rock stars". Queen is now a crappy tribute band and using Adam Lambert is an insult to Freddie's memory quite frankly. I get some people love Adam Lambert but I'm simply not one of them. He's a modern day high note whore who relies on his sexuality to be what he is in music. Freddie was a musician who happened to be gay/bi but he didn't use that as a crutch for his rock star image or try to lean on that for fame. People assume that Deacon is a recluse when it just might be that he can't stand what Roger and Brian have become. Many would agree.
John Deacon and Freddie Mercury had their love of a certain music style, while May and Taylor were more into rock. When you haven’t a strong character, like May, you go for the most outrageous. I’m not a post Freddie Queen fan.
John quit the business because he lost his best mate, he certainly had enough money and without freddie it was never gonna be the same again. Cheers john hold your head high mate.
Come on, this is old bs, Roger is a bit of an ass on the issue, Johns decision should be respected, Roger and Brian still dine out on Johns brilliance. Anyway, John is still intimately involved with the bands finance structures, he did not become a recluse, he became an even better family man. Leave him alone.
3:12 I was surprised to hear ABBA's Slipping Through My Fingers, here. What concert was this a part of? Who was the female singer, for which Queen apparently played backup?
the reason they chose Adam was because he brought no bargaining leverage & no Capital. Thats why. The more Brian boasts about Adam you can deduct $$$ signs from his bottom line with Queen. Sorry. Thats just the cold dead truth of it. I like Brian. But hes full of crap here.
What's so bad wanting to continue? John Deacon just hit jackpot tried for his hobby didn't knew it'll be legendary rock band in history he realized he didn't like the lifestyle and IMO he's also religious. You have to know even Freddie liked Brian and Roger performance first and a fan.
Queen should have split when Freddie died....The replacements have been poor in my opinon!...You cannot replace someone like Freddie!.. Spandua Ballet are the same and Wet,Wet,Wet to name a few from memory!
If May and Taylor had any integrity they would've ditched the name "Queen" as a band name for any future musical ventures. Probably why Deacon has no time for them. He knows that they are all about chasing the £ and $ with no desire to preserve the legacy that the band named represented.
Nothing new here. It's Re-Re-cycled information that has been out there for years. It's literally cut and paste for the sake of content and more view minutes. It's dull as fuck. John decided he couldn't see a way forward after Freddie, who he was very close to. So he decided he'd had enough. Leave him be. He has more pride and dignity than Brian and Roger, who are basically two money grabbing control freaks, milking it for what its worth. Personally, I would have had more respect for them if they had moved on and started a new band, because what they have been doing since Freddie passed is not Queen. Nothing like it. No Freddie.. No John.. No Queen.

I believe John's last performance was 17Jan 1997 at the opening of the Bejart Ballet in Paris, all music by Queen and Mozart! Production of the Only The Good Die Young video on 29 Oct 1997 was not considered a 'performance'.

Queen ended when Freddie died
Same as Bonham and Zep, but with so much money tied up in back catalogues they're gonna milk the tits off it.
John made the right decision without freddie its never going to be the same . All they'd achieved was left intact as it should be .
Period. 😢
Paul Rodgers is good.
john was youngest member of queen but always looked the oldest
Top geezer john is
Fair play
It's not queen without freddie n john
It's the Brian may n roger taylor band
They shouldn't go around calling themselves queen bec they ain't
End of.
I think his electronics skills helped Brian May develop his distinctive guitar sound.
And JD wrote one of my favourites the lesser known Spread Your Wings from NOTW
Lesser known? It was a single.
John did the right thing after Freddie, passing. Shame the others didn't.
So, did I miss Roger’s revelation?
No offense to Adam Lambert, but Queen is no longer Queen after the loss of Freddie. I’ve been listening to Queen for 40 years, but not once did I intentionally listen to the “post Freddie” Queen.
@@CH67guy1 Me either and never will
Can't stand these bands who try to carry on, after the loss of a front man.
Do you include AC/DC as one of those bands? Back In Black was massive success.
There are exceptions. Joy Division/New Order are one
I see him regularly near where he lives he won't talk about Queen, he is totally correct, no Freddie no Queen.
Queen isn't Queen without Freddie. The others were just greedy. Let things be. All good things come to an end.
I don't speak to John either.
Queen died with Freddie.
Queen finished years ago for me. For those who never saw Queen i get it. They get to see Brian and Roger play the songs . If it actually was Queen they wouldn't say with Adam Lambert. When Bob Scott died it wasn't AC/DC with Brian Johnson.
Is Bob the brother of Bon?
@hermannus3894 no
He's the builder
I think it would be a massive advantage to Brian and Roger to get John back - however if that's what John wants, then so be it. The biggest thing affecting Queen's original musical output besides John, is lacking the original piano as a compositional tool. Freddie was an excellent song-writer. Adam is an outstanding performer and a great fit for Queen. However, the lack of piano driving songs is a gap for any new music.
Leave John alone, he obviously wants it that way.
I respect Deacon. Totally
John made the right choice. He is a smart guy.
2 Fav Tune's at number 1, then followed by ALL their other song's. One Vision & I Want It All.
@@DWtechfan very well said
Respect to John.
The tribute concert was in 1992, not 1991!
John Deacon and Freddie Mercury had their love of a certain music style, while May and Taylor were more into rock. When you haven’t a strong character, like May, you go for the most outrageous. I’m not a post Freddie Queen fan.
I personally think Adam is not a good rock singer
he ain’t no Freddy ‘ but who is ?
@@richstone7795 Freddie King, Freddie Garrity, Freddie Flintstone.....🤔
@@lucilleconsenza8239 🤣i was wrong
He's useless at the heavy fast stuff , no low end power
Ok.
John quit the business because he lost his best mate, he certainly had enough money and without freddie it was never gonna be the same again. Cheers john hold your head high mate.
Sometimes life moves on and you decide to leave things behind.
"Paul Rodgers" entered the chat.
What's so bad wanting to continue? John Deacon just hit jackpot tried for his hobby didn't knew it'll be legendary rock band in history he realized he didn't like the lifestyle and IMO he's also religious. You have to know even Freddie liked Brian and Roger performance first and a fan.
@@SidAlienTV *Experience* entered the chat.
I respect Mr Deacon very much . Perhaps Mr Taylor should
Spends a lot of his time very quietly in Biarritz.
No John.. No Queen.
CLICKBAIT reveals nothing. You should be ashamed
Top lad John
There is no mystery, John simply retired and Roger carried on.
I think paul rodgers should have stayed with sir brian may roger Taylor john deacon should have played with the rest of QUEEN 👑 forever we still miss john deacon and farrokh bulsara aka greatest showman Freddie mercury 🎤🎸🎸🥁🥁🥁🕊🕊🕊🕊🕊
WTF..... utter BS. He may be retired but he still speaks to his old mates. AI generated crap. Deacon knows it is a money grab and nothing more. That band ended when Freddie died.
I wish you a well deserved and happy and long retirement John Much respect to you for having nothing to do with the continued sham that May and Taylor persist with
Can't stand these bands who try to carry on, after the loss of a front man
yea no jagger no stones
Why did he say 1998 was his last performance? He retired after he joined the band for the final song on the Queen Rocks compilation.
I believe John's last performance was 17Jan 1997 at the opening of the Bejart Ballet in Paris, all music by Queen and Mozart! Production of the Only The Good Die Young video on 29 Oct 1997 was not considered a 'performance'.
I think john is like any other bloke..had a job, couldn't wait to see his family at the end of the day..he was a family guy. But also knew his job was being a star in a super group..freddie died and a part of john died..total respect deacy.❤❤❤
queen wasn't queen without the queen singing.. should have left it there.

Мерзко от того, что на этом бесконечно зарабатывают в ютубе всякие слизняки.
Perhaps continuing to work with Roger and Brian would have reminded John of Freddie. He probably needs the distance. But perhaps simply carrying on would have healed his grief over time. Confronting the loss instead of running away
Yes, a band makes music. No job lasts forever. Do you talk with people from your prior jobs?
In an interview with Brian he said he's not a sir and he doesn't like to be called sir
He's been a useful freemason, he's shown his allegiance to the Royals (the monarch is the head of the freemasons), and that's why he is a sir, and rich and successful
@sophiafakevirus-ro8cc no he is not for sure he said it himself on an interview I'm not a sir and I don't want to be called Sir pay attention to the interviews not water so means and what he is he don't like it
I don't care what you say or what you think I'm going by the interview that he has and he said I am not a sir I do not like when people call me sir it came from his mouth not mine
@@lucilleconsenza8239 thank you for being so honest. You don't care what I say, or think.
Nobody much cares what anyone says, thinks, or does, nobody cares about others. This is the fate of the human being.
@@lucilleconsenza8239I know you don't care what I say but here is my Brian May story: I used to walk from the Notting Hill tube station, down the Portobello Road every day and I often saw Brian May in the window of a house. It must have been an office. Whenever I looked over he would be there and he would always nod and wave. I think he thought I was somebody. I liked that we would wave hello every day, it cheered me up.
John Deacon-Everyone needs to respect this man's decisions. When it's over-it's over. What the hell can they do without Freddy? He was right. He showed up for 3 shows post Freddy's passing. Let it go! It's not easy-but come on guys. Bill Wyman did the right thing for Bill Wyman. When the chemistry is broken that's it. Queen hasn't come close to their past work-and John's retirement is what it is.
John Deacon is by far my favourite member of Queen. The others were all outrageous personalities and egos. Obviously suited the style of the band but for me some of Deacons’s bass lines are the best bits eg Killer Queen.
if i was john i wouldnt talk to the other 2 ... so theyre both knighted..that tells you all you need to know
I stopped listening to anything new from Queen (apart from Made In Heaven) after Freddie died because it was no longer "Queen". Unlike Taylor and May, John Deacon decided not to go on in a band that would constantly be trying to find replacements for Freddie and failing completely... He had the sense to see that the band Queen were finished from Freddie's death on and should have retired gracefully. I respect him enormously for that!
@zephyrbear: ou talking bullshit as all the so called John lovers. John Deacon approved everything what happened after Freddies death , Brian and Roger talked about everything with him and doing so to this day. And John is cashing in, on everything the other Guys, do as far it is "Queen" related , so he is doing not much now , and if am cynic collect his welfare checks
@@powertothebauer296With Queen selling everything to Sony John is totally out of the pic. Brian is always selling something and it rubs me wrong. Now with the remastering of the first album and auto tuning Freddie, Brian and Roger are disowned by me. I will never buy anything dated after Freddie’s death. This remastering is sacrilege, the movie was bad enough but that was over the edge.
John just retired. End of. Why wouldn't he. I would have.
John DID play music again after Freddie's death. If you cannot get that right, there is no point in listening to the rest of the video.
❤My favorite Queen song 🎵 is the next song, after this favorite Queen song 🎶 ❤
I don't think Adam Lamberts singing voice is suited to queen songs. He has a voice for theatre and musicals.
I remember watching a video where some numpty got John to sign loads of merc on film whilst John was in his car. John was gracious enough to sign everything when it was obvious the numpty just wanted to sell the merc on for a profit, disgusting.
Adam Lambert sucks
in more than one sense...............
Queen died when Freddie died - Adam Lambert is too weird a front man, not for me. all that stupid makeup etc.
You happen to be homophobic .
eeewwwww Lambert. There is no more a band called Queen. Worst part of this video is the A I speaking.
