In fact, Turkey is in the exact middle of the Western and Eastern hemispheres that modern world decided to divide with politics and culture in mind. So the name "Middle East" should actually be used for the middle of the East which we, as Turks, call Middle Asia.

It is funny that that comment immediately rubbed me the wrong way. I come from old school republic Turkish parents that would be highly offended at having turkey categorized as part of the Middle East. I know with Turkey's current leader it's acting more Middle Eastern than in previous decades but is still not a middle eastern country.

Thank you so much for showing us the real Izmir from the eyes of a foreigner which I think this as a priceless job you've been doing all the time. I hope all Americans could bring down their prejudices and boundries one time and could see us as you do. I know a few Americans who are just the opposite of the Turkish media tells us them how they are. And you're just the another illustration of this misinformation or misleading that we 're exposured to by that media.

Well , watching you to giving that reaction to 'müdür müdür müdür ? ' . When finished reading it that visible confusion ... That was really fun thing to watch . Let me explain it to you , In our language to make a predicate from any noun rooted word you add an addition that has no meaning seperately from the sentence that consists it (I don't really know the direct translation but let's call ek fiil/ek eylem = additional verb) . So mısın/misin/müdür kind of variants have actually no meanings .
But as you can guess one of them has another meaning , to be more exact , müdür means the principle . I'll add a question mark to prevent any confusion

Wow people are thinking you are not American? I’m both Turkish and American, born and raised in Southern California (Turkish side from Izmir) As an American, I can vouch she is also an American by not only listening to her accent and how she talks but there’s certain vernacular and mannerisms that are so American that only another American can pick it up. And I am familiar with the way she speaks clear and slow because that’s what I would do when my Turkish family would come to visit. Also many areas of Maine have their own accent I bet Chelsea can speak it!

I was very surprised and happy that you were in Hatay. It makes you proud that you lived in Hatay, the city of civilizations. a very beautiful city. Cultural tourism certainly come at the beginning of Turkey. The world's first cave church, the world's longest beach, etc. There are so many things to be told. the dishes are excellent. I strongly suggest you to visit the museum hotel and Old Antakya streets. Take care ✌🏻
