The reason why there are so many nature-themed names in Turkish; The pre-Islamic Turks have shaman beliefs, those with shamanistic beliefs respect nature, they see it as a god. That's why there are so many Nature related names in Turkish. I would appreciate if you read the heart if you read Chelsea sister. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

In Turkey actually Arabic originated names are the most generic ones because of the religion but Turkic originated names are mostly nature themed. They're mostly about the sky, astronomical objects; natural and geographic objects and events, even disasters; animal names etc. It's because the former culture's lifestyle was literally based on the deep respect to the nature and worshipping the Eternal Sky. Thank you for the lovely content btw!

Only Gül is a comminish name. You'll see a Rüzgar and especially Kuzey very, very rarely.
Turks can literally conjure a name from anything. It's not uncommon to make up a name from thin air.
People call chilsren Toprak(Earth), Kaya(Rock), Su(Water) but not Hava(Air) for some reason.

There is no conventional set of namecalling in Turkish culture. Like most things in Turkish culture, it's a bit of a mish mash of various neigbouring cultures with the nomadic core of Turkic tribes in the centre.
Nomadjc Turks usually tended to name people with basic strenghth inspiring names, mainly animals or names from nature. Giray, ögeday, Altay, Gökay, Alp and such.(Usually, turkic originated names are easy to pronounce and simple) Especially in men, Moon is a very common theme.
Then comes the Persian and Arabic names. Persians are usually Firuze, Firuz, Cemil, Cemile, and arabic ones are common enough, most of them are bastardised versions of the oriignal name. Mehmet instead of Mohammed for example.
A lot of military titles both turkic and iranian. Serdar, Tolga, Fatih etc.
And in younger generations, the infamous era of "Elit kesimin çocuklara koyduğu sikimsonik isimler" where there are a lot of weird names came out.
Su(water), toprak, berk(old but newly popular), Berkecan, Sudenaz and such.
I usually like Turkish names and the old Ottoman and Seljuk names of mixed Iranian and Turkish. Like Mihrimah(girl name, means Sun and Moon), Neslihan(Girl name, means Royal Blooded), Mahpeyker(Girl name, means She who is of Moon)
Geez we like Moon and Sky in Turkish culture.
