@@mgabbard CC for the win. These guys getting old hurts my heart. I was in grade school in the 80’s and that convergence of 70’s artists going into the 80’s just rules.

@@fretbuzz59 To be honest I also get the feeling that Fagen and McDonald are singing through some sort of filter. I think all three of them actually. At first I was blown away by their pitch when I heard these recordings, but after a few listens, and after comparing them to other live recordings from that period, it's pretty hard to shake the suspicion.

School time children this is how real music is done there is pure unadulterated energy coming through the screen because these guys are playing for real the energy is palatable
Mike was struggling just a tad wth the high notes but changed his entire delivery, like a pro, and got on with an amazing performance! Any lead vocalist who plays an instrument has my attention instantly.
Oh, no doubt it was borderline elder abuse at the end. That comes with age. The vocal chords just get weaker. The only artists I've heard beat the curse is Kenny Loggins and Gino Vanelli. They can still do the stuff they did 40 years ago without cutting any corners.
I always knew Michael McDonald could sing. I have heard "Fool" countless times. As good an R & R song as ever was written and performed. In my humble opinion. This great version adds Boz and Donald. I have been a fan of Steely Dan since they first got on the air. I never knew how talented Fagan really is, until I saw him tickle those ivories like that. And I must admit that I did not know what a great guitar player the Boz is. Really nice listening. Thank you.
Really the best version of this live I've heard...gotta give some props to Donald, adds some really nice touches on the piano if you listen carefully :-)
My eyes are watering up for it is seldom I am witness to much utter soul. Michael, Donald, and Boz I lift my glass to you and thank you getting me those brutal moments we face as we hurl thru this life. You have made the journey worthy of the ride.
One of their other videos somebody posted if God had a talk show that this would be his band, I thought how true is that. Some of the comments are priceless.
You know people can comment all they want... Yes, we all have age to catch up with... The one thing that always make me listen to this man’s music over and over again, is that its timeless and you won’t find music like this new on the radio anymore, period... I will always love this type of music... He can never be reproduced by no one!!!
Amazing Fantastic Angelic ...Thank you SO much guys you are exceptional, I am grateful for listening all your great music...genius guys...🥰 so much memories too😍
Man, who the f... thought about putting these guys together, he deserves a Nobel prize for it or something.
All they needed was Christopher Cross and they could have punched a hole in the yacht-rock, space-time continuum that night.
"Dirty Dozen" of music artists ....
Doobies such a huge part of my life growing up. Saw him in Oakley UT a couple years ago, still incredible.
F'ing genious me thinks.....

Michael, Boz and Donald. Three of the most distinctive voices in Rock & Roll! Monet is icing on the cake. What a band. Simply AWESOME!
Am Yisrael chai !
How does a man that age retain such an epic voice?
Because he's a crack bro!!! Es un capo!

@@causeandeffect8969 I've heard Fagen use Auto-tune, not sure about Mike, but he isn't using it here.

True they are true music
I cannot understand that. I get not you cup of tea but the level of talent in this collective remains unmatched 40+ years later.
One of the few singers that when you first hear their voice, you know straight away who it is!!!
...or when you hear him singing back up for Steely Dan in the 70s!! Can't miss him!

As an old California hippy, I may be biased, or just blessed? 3 of my favorites of all time. Mike, Don and Boz.
ABSOLUTELY _ FRANKIE D

We are immortal. You're listening to proof...:{)>
I so agree! Saw these 3 in concert a few years ago & I'd definitely go again!!!
My kind of people!
Absolutely, I grew up East Coast but these three always remind me of the most chill periods of my life.
THIS IS REAL MUSIC !!!
THIS IS REAL SINGING !!!
THIS IS REAL PLAYING !!!
THE GREAT OLD DAYS !!!
Agree
No matter what band or what song is being done- I can ALWAYS find Michael McDonald's voice! It is THAT distinctive and I LOVE IT!
they didn't even tune down from the original song and he's still nailing all of the notes
Very talented group of musicians; most of whom tour with Steely Dan. Love Michael McDonald--timeless voice.

Props to Jon Herrington - played several style of guitar, including Kid Charlemagne, and so well! The whole band is incredible!
This is heaven for 52 year old me. These guys have made songs I had to grow into.
That man possesses a lot of soul

Unbelievable amount of talent on that stage. Thanks for posting!
Yeah . That audience is a lucky crowd of people .
they have established longevity....they don't make them anymore....compared to the present performers nowadays....

He had a chest cold but was feeling better by the fourth pint.
Looks like Donald Fagen is loving every second of this concert. 😊
Wow to have Boz Scaggs singing back up.
Amen .
Friggin awesome!!!
VOICE IS ORIGINAL, NEVER CHANGES AND ALWAYS SOUND GOOD! LOVE HIM FOREVER
Repeating a line in a song a second later in a Michael McDonald voice very often makes a song better.
525Lines You are correct sir.
+525Lines Do you know if Doobie Brothers played this song without Michael McDonald?
He sang backing vocals on so many great songs!

Pure Awesome Michael! Your voice still needs to be heard because your audience is not dead.
Michael is reuniting with the Doobies for their 50th anniversary tour
Nothing like this today.....Just music with soul feelings.
It's great to see Donald having such a good time on keys.
👍
That guitar run at 2:28 is so clean
This is like the most epic lineup ever. Add Jeff Lynne and Hall and Oates and there'd be no stopping them.
lol, that would be like the new Beatles.
Jon Harrington's solo...WOW, short yet perfect, the man's a guitar-god IMHO!
Pure Gold!!!

@@tugs53 Not fully. McDonald and Fagen did have a little bit of Autotune sprinkled in their voices. You can hear it at some points

These guys are all one-offs. Never to be repeated. Enjoy them while we’ve got them.

+Chris Ducat Yes indeed, he is a subtle player and a genius arranger - this band is put together very well!
+Michael Gorman Except for the cheesy ending. Such a great song to have such a cheesy ending.
I'm way more impressed with his singing. He's just getting better with age.
The brightest piano as distinct from keyboard is Donald Fagen on the grand p.
Fagen is tearing it up!
Nothing but goosebumps...
Even in the mix with other singers his incredible voice is easy to pick out. No other voice like Michael McDonald's!
Can' t get any better.
Oh God this brings me to back
This isn’t just anybody. These guys put the Hall & Oates magic to this old Protest Tune. The talent on stage is incredible, very tight.
Hall & Oates? Protest song? Did you watch a different video than the rest of us?

Still one of the great classics....Bravo...
Love the dukes, so wonderfu!!!
I love Michael, I can listen to him all day!
I am so glad my father showed me this kind of music growing up. I love hip/hop and rap but this touches something deeper inside of me.
