The best long wheelbase car ever produced
Also fun fact:
HSV almost produced the Grange W1 with an LS9 and a Grange GTSR with an LSA, it’s such a shame they didn’t go through with these special versions of the grange because the grange is such a beautiful car. 😢
Oh man I would love to have seen that!
What a weapon where did Australia go wrong building these weapons so sad that they are gone though
People stopped buying them, they wanted SUVs over big v8 sedans unfortunately
Everyone bought Hilux instead
So sad 🥲 we need more cars like this and more V8s!
Australia went to dualcab turbo diesels
@@79series I don't agree. It's the chicken and egg argument. I think they pushed people towards them with options.
For me personally, the best mix of power and luxury from have would have been the VF Senator's, gotta get your hands on one of them at some point
Definitely a good combo 👌
I hope I can! Definitely one on my list 😮💨🇦🇺
Its a huge shame Ford And Holden stopped making cars....emagine what they would be like now...government wastes so much money on other things...they should have been saved.....great review Johnny...nice to see your subscribers growing...👍👍👍
I read something and it said the model after the vf commodore was always going to be based on a fwd platform like the zb. So basically we got the commodore holden was always planning on building after the vf the only difference was it was built in Germany not Aus
@Christopher Holden look at the 'whichcar?' Review of the zb commodore 2021, it says however, even if the local car industry had survived, the follow-up to the VF was always going to use Opel’s global FWD/AWD and transverse engine E2 architecture as its base.
Gov could have kept throwing money at them, but people werent buying them and labour is expensive in australia. Im a Holden lover but you cant prop something up forever.
Thanks mark! Trying my best to get to that 100k celebration 🎉 it’s so sad we lost these cars here in Australia
@@RossReviewsau So much potential in Australia....what a waste.....you'll get there Johnny.....you have alot of fans out there....passion and patience....will definitely get you there....
Spins me out, Outside looks like a VE caprice, VF interior, And SS VF seats not the VF HSV seats, Seems like a Parts car, Still love it. Looks like the joker with that Grin,
Definitely a bits a kit I think 😅 still epic tho
Sensational mate, I have a 1981 WB Statesman Caprice and would like to have this is the shed alongside it.
Glad you enjoyed it Matt!
This was my original dream but it was so far away price wise I got a wn series 2 caprice I am still in love with both
They were a lot of coin 🤑
That means it's still an ls3 right?
@@Low760 yeah just a 304 tune. But I love the look the black interior the outside etc. and I am not gonna be a meme and put grand bumpers on my caprice
Awesome video of a True collectors car Ross Reviews. I enjoyed the video. Please make sure you bring out the AU XR6 VCT really soon please. Awesome 😎 reviews.

Recently bought a low-milage '17 WN Caprice, and absolutely love the thing. Obviously not the Grange reviewed here, however still a big & comfortable luxury cruiser with sporty handling and heaps of torquey 6.2L LS3 V8 power, which provides effortless cruising & acceleration; also a load of fun when you plant the right boot at the lights and embarrass the poseur next to you in his WRX or AMG Merc.
They are brilliant cars very comfortable
no way your caprice beats an amg even in a straight line
Mid 1990s i owned a Holden which in a sense was very similar to this Grange ,im sure only old farts like me will remember the WB Magnum, top review mate as always
Glad you enjoyed it Peter 🤝
A family friend bought one new in ( approx ) 1984
Burgundy Red ? with same colour interior, velour trim
I think his was based on the DeVille model ?
Such a beautiful car
Was a country SA car
So good out on the highway
Such a great exhaust note. 👍
Love the Aussie land yacht muscle cars, my personal favourite is the unicorn T3 TL50 Tickford only 3 were made with the 5.6L stroker T3 series, 2 were internal Ford HR staff and 1 to a customer.
Great things eh mate cheers for watching
That’s a BEAST of a car GREAT REVIEW Ross thank u 🙏
glad you enjoyed it
You forgot to mention the senator. This is my dream car yet I've never been a fan of that front bar it's sticks out like dog balls and doesn't flow with the shape. That being said I'd still love to own this thing, nice car and nice review mate👍🇦🇺🍻
The senator is still under the grange no? 😹 it gets confusing.. senator must be short wheel base and have GTS running gear
@@RossReviewsau senator signature was always the Calais GTS basically.
Loved that review👌
Glad you liked it
Great review and yes a dream car, have build number 20 of 50 sitting in the garage with a Walkinshaw enhanced LSA supercharger under the bonnet
great stuff! hold onto it
@@RossReviewsauyou should do a review on my car, basically identical vehicle but with factory LSA supercharger
My dream is a grange with a big snail under the bonnet comfort and a weapon perfect mix
Turbo grange would be wild!
What a fantastic looking car. Wish we got these in the US, best we got is a police car with DOD
I would love to own that vehicle.
Beautiful car
Yeah mate she's just the perfect big old luxury cruising machine & bloody quick too,you know Johnny it's really disheartening to think just how great our cars were here world class indeed & now they're gone forever 😩anyway another enjoyable review cheers brah.
Commodores were such good looking cars. Would’ve loved to see how they’d look in the 2020’s
Ikr it’s so sad
Now imagine if it was manual like my Grange 🤤
Offf icing on the cake
I have number 32 in my driveway and love it
Awesome 👏
I thought the Grange uses the WN chassis and the VF was on the Commodore.
So sad how they kept the disgusting VE skin on it, imagine how beautiful a VF body grange would have looked.
They knew they were going down so I guess cheaped out a bit 🥲
Awesome review John. Impressive times 0 - 100, especially for a large car. Must have a smaller diff. How does the 6 speed compare to the Ford ZF6? I understand that the Ford has no shift paddles. Cheers
Very impressive 0-100! I would say the ZF is better but it’s comparable
Given its a hsv with the ls3, at least the 3.27 final drive.
ZF never had throttle blip on down shift which is great in these and the Holden cars..
Its my dream car 😢
Very nice beast this
IIRC these used up the 340kw variant of the LS3 as from Nov 2016 this combination didn't meet emissions laws .
Bloody emissions laws a BS
What a beast!!
Epic ride
Best GM branded car
Man if you can find an do a review of an original sv99, considering how rare they are. You would have to be 1 of the best youtubers
Maybe one day let’s hope
@@RossReviewsau even a vt manta if you can find one
Welcome to Mornington Peninsula man 🤌
Enjoyed it out there
Sounds like you don't have much energy on this one. It's a bit of a let down the seats are standard Caprice/Calais v seats unlike a senator. But engine combo is worth it.
This was at the end of my Melbourne trip n I was pretty burnt out 💀 but still a cool car to see.. just yeh they could have done more tonit
@@RossReviewsau that's what I suspected. But they were pretty cheap vs the supercharged HSVs by then too.
Crazy stato.
Holden should have done 1 more car. A prized HQ Kingswood remake. Would have been something special.
Sad they are gone 🥲
I hate to burst your bubble but it was revealed if Holden kept making cars after the VF that it would have been the ZB Commodore that would have replaced it. HSV looked at putting a V8 in that car however the Chev V8 electronics would not have worked with the ZB cars electronics. Opel didn't have a V8 in its range so there was no way HSV would have a V8 commodore once VF was stopped being made.
Well that would have been the biggest mistake 💀
How do i get the body of one of these
What year is this
Don't get in a accident , those bumper skins can't be ever found again. And if you do find 1 be prepared for 5000 just for the rear and another 5 for the front lol
All FPV or HSV sadly
Wm grange had Magna ride
Interesting 🤔
Are you still on the gold coast I got a 600 plus HP vz
Back in Perth but I’ll be back soon
Yeah gotta say I prefer the previous gen caprice / the v series just doesn’t do it for me at all
Yes a shame they are no more.. it is a tragedy for Adelaide , especially Elizabeth and neighbouring suburbs economic and socsocial sustainability, die hard enthusiasts would be feeling as if their sole was removed 😟 this motoring culture was a part of aussie DNA steam way back in history when cars were everything unlike modern times, so basically everything that meant a lot to people now means nothing
You must had felt sad that they stopped producton
Very 🥲
@@RossReviewsau I think a lot of people would be the same to
Poor mans Senator :P
Ain’t the grange the top luxury? Senator I’m guessing top luxury GTS running gear?
It is very sad because the Holden company stopped working. I wish it would work in producing this masterpiece because I own the 2009 model Caprice. It is beautiful, comfortable, powerful and widely spread in the Middle East, except for this version, HSV.💔4231
It’s truly heartbreaking 💔
An American cop car.
this is the BEAST version tho
Now we have American cars mustangs and camiros Australia u should put ur head in shame Australia would have made better cars than the yanks buying cars from America what the f
Australians don't run Australia. It's not like we had a choice with all the sheep playing along.
It’s sad we lost the industry
whens ya mom coming back to review some cars, its been so long, the way she slams the gears, shes the boss of muscle cars and woz grouce, wheres ya MOM, i,m number one fan, your ok too ross
Now everyone wants a v8 sedan 😂
We all want what we can’t have 🥲
