Reuters thinks today's April's Fools Day!!!
How long until Reuters says their account was hacked and it's a false report.
I doubt that will happen. They have internal documents and low level sources but the lie is the narrative they have constructed around the facts.
Fake news! :)
lol
We need tariffs to protect innovation against state-sponsored corporate espionage and authoritarian human rights abuses. There are spies within Tesla.
Yes, Reuters has a long history of deliberate manipulation and lying, false reports, hacking claims and lawsuits for deceiving their readers 🙄
Why would Tesla build an entire new unboxed production line to build robotaxis and not also make them to sell to the general public?
This is the type of situation the SEC should be investigating.
Yes, because Reuters made a billion shorting TSLA.
@@howardj602Good, they will find the same as the last time, sue Elon and he will make a billion in profit from the false accusations. Perfect!
@@howardj602 I am just as much lying as Reuters. So: sue me.
@@wolfgangpreier9160 Well played.
@@howardj602 Yes, of course, just as everybody else on social media.
What did you expect?
Sadly both parties aren't exactly known for telling the truth. Otherwise this would be easy to dismiss.
Yes, Elon never tells the truth, you are completely correct.
Ahh: Let’s not forget: Two weeks, then Tesla is bankwupt. Do NOT forget!
Someone is getting sued over this. I don’t know who but someone is clearly lying.
Space karen 🙄
lol, but nobody sued Musk over Teslas going up in value, or Tesla semi replacing trains? This is a lot more believable.
It’s true
sued for what damages?? .. hurt feelings ??
It would make sense if you think about it. China is lost for Tesla as a growth market. NEV's are 50% there and their market share went down this year and they already have 25k models and they go more nationalistic all the time. In Europe the competition would be fierce as all automakers compete in this compact car segment. And US customers don't really buy such cars in great numbers as 80% of the market is trucks and SUV. So yeah, Tesla could make this 25k car but the sales would not be spectacular anywhere. And you need to keep in mind that Tesla is very inflexible when it comes to production. Once they committed to a model, they need to sell a lot of them to recoup their investments made to the "production line" with Gigacasting and the likes it's not easy to adjust. That's why they sell the same cars for several years, Model 3 and Y because it's not easy for them to pivot.
Potential market manipulation.
Stock fell to $161, then recovered.
SEC asleep?
Reuters should be investigated for fraud. They are not believable on any count, but may be trying to manipulate stock prices.
Musk always blames other people. Reuters reporting has been spot on. It Musk that is the serial liiar.
Interesting. How many scandals and lawsuits has Reuters been involved with for deliberately lying to their readers?
Never trust Elon
Elon basically confirmed it with August robotaxi announcement.
@@reginald7214Yes, absolutely. I agree with you 100%. My comment was subtle (maybe too subtle) sarcasm to OP for claiming Reuters can’t be believed on any count. The irony is beyond thick. Reuters is infinitely more credible than Elon, and while no publication is perfect, it’s still one of the most credible sources of information we have.
Stock manipulation as well as insider trading on fraudulent reports is a no-no.
That only applies to Elon.
and nothing will be done about it as usual
There seems to be endless attacks and lies aimed at Tesla. Many would be from oil companies and legacy auto, but you also have traders shorting the stock spreading negative narrative s.
Yes, just ask Elon who well knows who the SEC is. His statements also affect stock. He's been fined for it in the past.
Keep healing and keep reporting, Sam!
Thanks Mate!
Reuters is spreading FUD.
Reuters changed ownership a few years ago and has become a joke since

"Debunked", or just flat out lied? Lol.
Aside from the price, Tesla simply needs smaller cars to compete in markets where the 3 and Y are too big. Here in France I talk daily with people who will never buy a 3 because it's lacking a hatch version, and the Y is seen as gigantic.
Reuters needs to make an apology soon...
Personally, I believe Reuters more than Elon. Reuters is nearly always right; Elon, not so much.

I’ll be buying more stock on Monday… thanks for the info!!!
I agree with Sam. I wonder about Reuters?
Why sell a car for $19,500 when you xan rent it out for $98,650 in profit over 3 years?
So the Taxpayer Bailouts of legacy auto... those *weren't* subsidies. Nevermind all the government subsidies supplied to the Fossil Fuel Industry.
That's an understatement.
Fossfuel and legacy subsidies dwarf bev subsidies.
Cause Mary led an it matters tehehe
The government must continue to force burning fossil fuel. They can not afford to lose the money from big oil and big car.
Look around you, what was delivered or transported by a truck using fuel subsidies? Fuel goes up, everything goes up. Everyone enjoys lower oil prices, someone making $114K got a bigger discount than someone making $70K when buying a $28K car. We already had price drops of $5400-7000 when subsidies was set to end, a person making $70K could have saved more with $7000 discount.
Fossil fuels are NOT subsidized. Oil companies get the same deductions as every other company, like Apple, Walmart, and Whirlpool.
Short sellers, yes; legacy auto company, yes but mostly the US and European Unions.
There’s a way to tell if Reutersbis lying; they’re moving their lips
Applies to Elon as well.
The number of people getting butt hurt because you reported on this is comical, considering you’re putting the record straight I don’t have a problem with that! Thanks for the info.
Why don't you got to the Reuter's site and see what they actually said.
Reuters has included elons fake story quote and is not taking down the story. Looks like no retraction of news story by Reuters coming.
When Elon has a Model 2 with FSD drive itself to the CEO's home as a request for retraction...
@thesoundsmith Model 2 will block the CEO’s driveway until the CEO posts a public apology and retraction.
That didn't age too well.
@@davidbrayshaw3529 True. Reuters issued a retraction and then put out a pointless insulting article on Elon the next day because they were b*tthurt.
You know when things are bad when Elon's Minions start to talk about "Robotaxi".
They do not have anything else they can talk about.
You haven't received the latest edition of "Cult Monthly", have you? It is considered blasphemy to mention undelivered "products" unless that product is Optimus.
Been a long, long time since Elon spoke any truth. TSLA in death spiral.
BYD Seaggull is 10k USD in China, so maybe 15k in US. BYD quality is really good, they are dumping prices hard, trying to take over.
I'm seeing so much negative media about EV's, negative social media, yet the increase in the amount of Teslas (and to a lesser extent BYDs) I'm seeing on Australian roads has been incredible. Only a couple of years ago I would spot a Tesla now and then, now they are everywhere. I agree Sam, something fishy going on, seems to be an anti- EV propaganda campaign being drummed up from somewhere.
I believe it's inevitable that EV's will take over. Electric motors are incredibly simple, efficient & trouble free compared to combustion engines. We don't run our home washing machine, fans, air con etc with combustions engines, we don't run our angle grinders, drills etc with little combustion engines. Combustion engines have been needed for portable power. My old 2 stroke line trimmer was a pain, sometimes start ok, other days a nightmare to get going. My electric Makita line trimmer never gives me a problem.
Now that battery technology has got to the stage that the battery pack (ie BYD blade) will outlast the car, the future for combustion engine cars is not good. My only worry is that EV companies might be tempted build in some sort of obsolescence if people start to keep their EV's for too many years.
The engine is efficient but the cars are not. They are basically designed as heave bricks for the road with Tesla being the only manufacturer which actually takes efficiency seriously. This is the only car I’d ever consider buying if going electric and I personally despise Elon the man child.
Ps. The battery has build in obsolescence has it not? 10 years? It’s basically chemistry.
@@10secondsrule I know the byd lifepo4 batteries are getting 700,000- 800,000 kms in Chinese taxis. I'm not sure how this would translate to years in a family car doing much less kms per year, due to resting battery degradation. Even the Teslas with 21700 battery technology are reportably getting over 400,000 kms. Obviously these cars must be driving high kms per year. Again I'm not sure how many years this would be in a car driven less due to resting degradation of the cells.
However personally I would choose a car powered with lifepo4 cells for the longevity and better safety.
And yes, how well will the rest of the car hold together is another question.
With respect Reuter is one of the most respected news agencies in the world. They quote three internal sources in their article. I have no ax to grind and am all for an electric future, but to dismiss this report as if it an article from Hello Magazine is a bit much on Elon say so😮
This $25,000 car is just as likely as that $40,000 pickup.
The compact car is a must. And the Reuters story is a hit job. A poorly conceived one at that.
Correct on the first point but a little off the mark with your second point.
Cheers mate good night Sam

Thanks for being the first to comment on this! I saw the Reuters headline. Maybe Elon is so positive about FSD that he has decided to scrap the steering wheel and go with a Model 2 self driving car? Thanks, and get some sleep!!
According to the Q1 report they produced far more than they sold, so of course they will have a large inventory.
The truth is I love my MY !
I’ll never buy an ICE car again !
Of course not. But i hope to be able and allowed to switch to a Cybertruck sometimes. I am still waiting for it to be imported to Europe.
Well we cant all afford an EV and personally I dont want one.

We wouldn't have EV's without them.
In China, Model 2 would have to be a lot cheaper than $25k anyway, to compete with what's being produced there.
I suspect a stripped down Model 3 reworked as a true hatchback could be a $30 K car.
Sure, but that is not what is Tesla is doing - they are building a Honda Civic type platform that will sell for $24000 for base models. Its assembly methods and battery technology have been revealed already. It is a car platform for multiple vehicles - maybe car, van, half ton pickup and robotaxi. The internal communications were probably to do with which one to produce first (robotaxi). Nothing has been cancelled.

Next generation design introduces so many new & efficient concepts, designed for larger numbers.

Get some rest, Viking. This is an encouraging video and let’s hope Reuters pays the price for peddling fake news AGAIN🎉
Why cancel it when you can delay it forever like the roadster? 😂
I think it is a co-ordinated news as to boost Tesla brand and stock as it is clear that they have some dificulties with the TY upgrade and any distraction from that is a good news.
Does everyone remember when Elon posted “going private at $420”?
The SEC sued him as they stated “stock holders were harmed”, he had to pay millions.
So when is the SEC going to sue Reuters?
Tesla can sue them when they're proven wrong. How far off that will be is the only question.
Actually, news has just come through. Tesla is axing the model 2. No suing Reuters just yet.
@@johnsmith-cw3wo noEl skuM?
I would bet on these reasons:
1. They've improved gigacastings for bottoms so vastly (forward with back-seats bottoms) that new format is not needed, combined with structural batterypack / roadrunner fabrication mode.
2. Improvement curve for stainless steel doesn't go up fast enough, doesn't go well with robots yet,
3 same with in-house built batteries (CATL''s progress) so packs cannot be that short.
2 things
1. short sellers as you say
2. As Elon said, best part is no part!
3. There is a better way! $12000 US dollars retail price EV is possible.
Remember the fine folks leading Enron?
Like that song from back in the day says
BUY BUY BUY !
BYE BYE!
Well...maybe borrowing from the Cybertruck theme it till be a small "Model 2", but not cost $25,000. $35,000+?
Producing a cheaper EV does not offer the same cost savings that making a cheaper ICE car does for a manufacturer, if you still want to offer the same mileage. The reason being of course is the battery cost and size does not change. And the cheaper LIP batteries have a lower energy density,
The only way to make a lower cost EV is to produce a no frills model
Get well soon Sam.
As a person who cannot afford any current Tesla while wishing I could, the cheap Tesla was my dream. Can't imagine Tesla would cancel it!
Do not think you should worry. If Tesla does Not make a $25K car In China, that would not affect us in America.
Thanks for the clarification...now get some well deserved sleep!
The smarter thing to do is to make the Model 3 a $25,000 car, and the model Y a $35,000 car. While introducing new higher end models.
Just saying Reuters is lying doesn’t directly refute the main part of the story. The story said a lot of things. Lying about what, specifically?
Tesla will align their supply chain, press the start button and print those like Oreo cookies, naysayers will eat their ties. Legacy OEMs are in worse shape overall, massive debts, shaky sales, changes in pricing over the Mach-E showed it’s linked to pricing, not demand.

I'm smelling massive lawsuit!
You might want to do a quick Google search as to the future of the model 2. Top tip: There'll be no lawsuit today.
I don’t disagree with you Sam, but outside of North America the Chinese EV companies will be dominant. I’d always assumed the Model 2 would be a global car design, this could effect the design of a future low cost EV, and certainly effect the amortisation of the R&D. I think the current Model 2 development might have gone “back to the drawing board”.
Hopefully will still have one for USA 😮
Dan Ives is a smart guy !
I'm pretty sure Viking made a video yesterday about how the Model 2 will be made in India. Funny, that. Seems like maybe they would make more sales there than in China?
Robotaxi was always the main plan with the cheaper car and the way to make ride hailing even cheaper was to analize how often there are mostly 1 passengers using ride hail service and even have maybe a 1-2 passenger vehicle so it is alot lighter with a smaller battery maybe even with just enough range to operate in a small area where it is able to go back to its station and recharge quickly and get back to duty. Either way it's a brilliant plan if it works out
If Toyota can make the Prius Prime in the USA next year and get a 7500 tax credit next year for 25000, it probably be a better-selling car than an EV at 25000.
BYD says they're going to sell the Seagull in Mexico for $21k. So the Model 2 has to be $4k better than a Seagull. That might be doable. The Seagull isn't luxurious. But still, the pressure builds.
