Saw these guys 3 times in the 70's, when music was great, and bands really played and sang. They kicked ass. IMO, the 60's, 70, and "some " 80's were the best Rock ever done or ever will be.

Damn it was good to find this, this tune always brings a smile to my face, after all these years these guys are still one of my favorite bands of all time. It’s criminal they’re not in the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. Especially when you consider all the garbage that is in there. One of the best bands ever.
I feel compelled to say that I am 62, lived in the Cleveland area most of my life, and I am ashamed of the "Rock Hall", and the ridiculous inductions. NY runs the show there, and well... J Geils was one of the best most energetic bands to see live. My older sisters turned me on to them, and they were one of the most rocking party concerts I saw - and for them not to have been recognized is a damn shame. I do feel very blessed to live in the Cleveland area because of the fantastic acts that stopped here. But for me, the "Rock Hall of Fame" is in our memories... From the awesome big concerts, to the small venue shows, to the 8 Track and cassette tapes we listened to a hundred times over. I don't need a shrine. I got TH-cam! ;-)
I saw them in Cleveland, Ohio, World Series of Rock, 1977. 5 other bands played that day and I had too much of something and pass out for a bit , but woke up to this song .
They were my first concert also, late February 1982 at the old Boston Garden. They played three nights at the garden, and I found out 10 years later that if I had gone two nights before I would have seen U2 open up! 😯😟
Rev Peter Wolf doing rap. In the late 60"s near WPI where the guys we're going to school there were many parties ;o) I had the luck to spend sometime them while passing the water pipe :o) those we're the days of a $10 oz!!
My history with this band started before Seth Justman joined...they were the J Geils Blues Band...made live tapes at a local coffeehouse in Providence..'67-'68...The irony is, a little over 10 yrs later while working for a friend's catering/craft service company, I got to procure the bottles of Dom Pérignon that they shook up and soaked the crowd with to celebrate their 10th anniversary. A great ride...a great band !! Great memories.
This is one of those tracks where the live version is even better than the studio version. Peter Wolf's crazy intro just adds so much to the song. It's actually become part of the song, really! Also, R.I.P. J. Geils!

I met Peter when I was a bicycle messenger in Boston. I had a delivery for him. A spandex clad groupie answered the door. I peaked around the door and he nodded and smiled. Not much of a meeting. What was it I was delivering? Tickets to the Boston Ballet!
Remember Strawberries Records on Boylston St. in Copley Square? For a year or so, I sat on the big wood staircase in the entryway to check bags etc. And Peter Wolf pretty much stopped in every few weeks. I was a starstruck 19-year old at the time. By the time I moved to LA in 1988, I must've seen J. Geils Band live at least a dozen times. THE BEST!

Watched them for 15 yrs coming to Detroit. Best concert band ever. Went to see a tribute band called Repuda. I was back in my glory.
