They sure had a progression of band members. Radar Love only made it to 13 on the Billboard chart, not that it means much. For AM radio it was a rocker and still a classic.

I was 18 back then during the Spring/Summer of 1974 when this song was popular. I met a tall blonde named Donna and Radar Love became our song. An interstate romance ensued for 6 years then ended. She ended up with a local guy in CT and I with a local gal here in OH. Through contacts I found out she died of cancer in 2007. But whenever I hear this song I remember and am back ‘there’ in time and being as I hold back tears. And Time passes...

Golden Earring lasted from the 70's to 2021 when the band decided to retire because George was diagnosed with ALS and couldn't play guitar anymore. I can only think of a few bands that still perform from the 70's with most of the original line up. Aerosmith, KISS, The Rolling Stones, Chicago.....I think that's about it. Why Golden Earring isn't in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame yet is a shame.

I love this music, not only from Golden Earring (my countryboys) but the whole range from hardrock to blues from the 60/70's keeps my going. I am looking forward for 87 and still can say the same. I had been driving for about 5 hours going thru Indiana on my way to Milwaukee in 1975. It was late at night, dark and boring. I had a 1966 black Corvette Stingray. Radar Love came on the radio and I had new life. Wide awake and picked up my speed considerably. Always remember that moment. Was alert for the last 4 hours of driving. Great driving song for a 4 speed Hurst.

A classic record is one which stands the test of time and is played on both national and local radio. Proof is there - its 49 years old and still sounds as fresh now as it was when I bought the single - still played although added scratches make it sound unique!

Man, you will have a hard time making a rock track as perfect as this. All instruments shine, the tone on that Rickenbacker bass driving the rhythm, the riffs are nothing but giant hooks, that snare and high hat throughout the whole song with razor sharp precision and those driving horns and synth layers, plus this dudes vocals are the most underrated in rock! Cuts through all of it like butter! This should be Rock 101 for any young band out there trying to write a song.Or anyone else! Hell I’m 47, I got turned on to this from my dad’s vinyl collection and I’m still rockin out on a guitar and bass every chance I get and still go back to the classics for inspiration.

As a German, I was grown up and living close to Grafenwöhr Training Area and on weekends I was often in close contact with US GIs. Together we enjoyed life so much. Radar Love was one of the songs we loved. Then there was Thin Lizzy, Nazareth, Frank Zappa or AC/DC all live at the Hemmerlein Halle. What a great time, I do never want to have missed.
