  • In this video I explain why OCD is essentially an anxiety-driven condition while it can also be seen as an attempt to stave off anxiety.
    I'll also share 4 therapy techniques I use to help my obsessive compulsive clients put their anxiety behind them and overcome their OCD.

    Great help Mark, I have a client today who is suffering from OCD with the added difficulty of being diagnosed as having Aspergers Syndrome. I’ve gleaned sone good ideas from this recording and The miracle question. Thank you for all you contribute to help us help our clients.

    The problem with this is that you’re treating OCD like it’s almost all fixated on compulsions but for myself and most people iv’e seen the obsessions are completely separate intrusive thoughts that a lot of the time don’t even relate to their compulsions

      I see your point but don’t you think the source of intrusive thoughts is the compulsive or anxious resolutions to an underlying bothersome unresolved issue which mind constantly reminds to seek solutions or answers.?

    Great 4 points. What if one is obsessed with prayer all the time and everywhere. How do you help them?

    Is it also an OCD if you touch something repeatedly? For example, there's a small dot on the door or wall and you keep on touching it and going back again many times? Cuz there's like a thought that something might happen if you didn't do it. Thank you for the response.

    Well if I tried to notice the outside world when I'm zoned out doing my obsessive note taking and planning, I would forget what i was writing/planning and get mad. My brain wopuld react by spending the next hour on tryiong to remember what i was doing

    What happens when we have panic attacks when we don’t carry out our compulsive behaviors? What do we do?

    • @dellta5367
      @dellta5367 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say that you shouldn’t have panic attacks because you should be accepting each thought as it comes and not feeding it or adding a threat, just let it be. It gets a better, quickly.

      Its when you get vivid images of yourself doing the worst thing like harming your love one. You dont want to really do it. But it gets played over in your mind.
