I'm going to attempt to do the same trick this weekend. Thanks for the idea. Already purchased the blue barrel

It works great just don't use rivets, get fender bolts and washers... the rivets busted out after a while... then I took a torch and molded the tip to not snag so much and close up the hole a little ...it's worked amazingly tho, takes alot of abuse.

Most plastic will soften when hot. If you'd poured boiling water on that barrel it would've been much easier to wrap. Try it with a milk jug.

great stuff, I am building one in the next few days. We are skidding logs out of the bush for my sons log cabin and we purchased the skidding cone, but yeah pretty expensive. need a few more so might as well follow your design..thanks , post some video of you using it

Thanks! If your going to make one use bigger bolts with fender washers and nylon lock nuts, the rivets eventually popped through, and also took a torch to the tip and molded it to a smaller hole in front.

Pro tip: hold a screw with your mouth before you drill so you don't have to shift your weight and risk losing your hole alignment to get your screw in.

I ended up putting bolts and washers later, the rivets didn't hold up...

Great idea but it looks like a tree snagger.. Maybe heat the small end and fold it inward towards the cable entrance.

Thanks! That's exactly what I did with a big torch.. works great now!... also had to replace the rivets with bigger bolts and fender washers

I think if you cut the length of the barrel in a V shape rather than a straight line you wouldn’t be fighting the excess material of the cone.

Ill do that on the next one foresure .. I ended up cutting off the excess and torching the front to bend it in .. after that it's been working great

Why have you not shown this being used?

I can if you want, I really don't use it all that much anymore since I got a log arch for the atv... it's more for winching really far away which I'm not set up to do currently.... a tractor and logging winch are in our near future tho

Sorry I haven't made one, my fourwheeler is stuck in the woods under a few feet of snow... Had a baby girl a few months months ago and I'm working 6 days per week so I haven't had time... We will be posting soon but it will probably be Oksana taking over the channel

@@farmlifeoffgrid damn. I wish we would’ve had a few feet of snow. I just got into this snowmobile a couple years ago. Needless to say didn’t go once this year. Ughh. Congrats on that baby girl. When mine was born, that was the first time I ever cried tears of joy good luck, and thanks for the reply.
