Ha! I realized while filming that I wanted the laptop close by, so I put a non-slip mat under it, on the XK-5. I didn’t realize it was rockin’ so much until I watched back after filming 🤣
I struggled to get a great B3 sound for my music for a long time. The first time I fired up B3X, all the headaches went away. Best Virtual B3 I have personally used. Love it!
Tom's great. Check out his performance on Yes Live Symphonic, if you haven't already. He's a great player and a great performer. He made the difference in that performance, for me. Total class 🙂
Picked this up a while ago. It is THE BEST virtual instrument I have ever played or heard. If you can swing, their Total Studio package is the best value going. SampleTank, Syntronik, B3X, Sampletron, and the incredible effects of Amplitube and TONEX and TRacks are unbeatable IMO
When I think about all those times carrying a C3 and 2 Leslies up 2 flights of stairs, and I wasn't even the keyboard player. I think I was born too early....
Cool to hear the shoutout to Lightning Twice in there. Check out Transmitter by Spiraling if you don't know. That was a great band and still don't know why they never blew up.
Awesome interview Tom. I'd like to see it compared to Nord's and Hammond's own organ synthesizers. I tend to think the B-3X can sound better than even a Nord, but I'm not sure. Not sure if you could connect a real Leslie to the B-3X as you can a Nord however. Then again, do you really need one with something like this?
The software Leslie emulation from IK Multimedia is considered, by many, to be one of the best recreations in the business. I own B-3X for my iPad Pro. And, it really is something! And I owned both an original B3 and Porta B, back in the 70s. Which were both actual tonewheel organs.
Hello, I wanted to tell you that I have a korg kronos keyboard and I bought the hammond b3x program and I wanted to ask you how to make the connections from the notebook to the keyboard to convert my korg and be able to use the b3x program. From already thank you very much
I was curious what your computer there is, Ive just used it with an ipad at a studio, so I never got to go indepth, so if I wanted to set this up, this looks like the os version, not ios.
Hi Tom, I have a Hammond SK1 and a MacBook Air with X2 USB-C ports. What cable do I need in order to connect the keyboard to the computer running Hammond B3-X please? Cheers Stefano
Since your MacBook has type C ports it must be a fairly recent version. I expect it has Bluetooth Low Energy. That being the case, consider not using a cable at all and instead look into whether the CME MIDI Master wireless solution would work for you.
If your stage piano has MIDI capabilities you would be able to send that to the Hammond B-3X plugin or standalone on your computer or iOS device as long as you have a MIDI interface.
It might be a good idea to start categorizing presets into sub-menus because there are starting to be a lot of them ... it's boring to scroll! And to be able to export our presets, too 😉 or maybe it’s a privilege for famous people like Jordan Rudess or Tom Breslin ???
How did this MacBook Pro never fall down ?

Definitely more convenient to gig with than lugging around a real B-3 and a Leslie cabinet. :)
Good walkthrough - thanks!
Wow! Yes and Kansas, rock legends! Nice chops!

Great! Love the update with these patches. I think it would be GREAT if IK Multimedia would do more installments like this with “artist presets”.

so cool you did yes and kansas presets I am definitely going for the total studio max upgrade to snag all the products
Niceeeee Tom, Happy holidays to you
Great presentation. Sounds great.

Just bought it this afternoon after having been using custom versions from other brands, adding distortion and on and on - Finally I have a clean B3
If I get it will I be able to play like Tom !
Awsome. Thanks!

0:22 Roundabout (AKA the To Be Continued song)?
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
How about a Yes organ licks tutorial in slo-mo and with top view?

Is that a midi controller he's using or how is he controlling the drawbars? I'd love to know
Would love some Procol Harem.
There’s some, especially A whiter shade of Pale sound is included in B-3X
*SOLO QUIERO SABER CÓMO USARLO EN REAPER!*
It will work like any other virtual instrument plug-in in your DAW.

Please don’t let the MacBook fall 😮
Can this be connected to a stage piano and layered underneath a stage piano?

what keyboard is that?
He just doesn't love his Mac...
He looks how I feel speaking to a camera.
