One thing about these shows that kind of irks me is where are the parents? Like if I heard that every year at my kid’s school there was a murder mystery I would take them right out.

Yeah when Samuel died and nobody from the first 3 seasons was included coming back for his funeral or to get revenge or find out what happened to him like where was his mum and brother? Why did Rebe and Omar leave just like that, seemed out of character for them considering how much they loved him and had been through together? that just really annoyed me more than anything cause I was like what was the point of developing Samuel’s character to be the most moral and thoughtful and just generally a good person (from a poorer background making him one of the most relatable characters) for then nobody that he loved and who loved him to even come back or show up for him? I understand the actors might have wanted to leave or do something different but felt like killing him off in that way was really unfair and broke my heart the most out of everyone I think, they did him dirty💔
IMO season 4 was the worst; they completely reversed Guzmans progress, ruined Samu and Guzmans friendship, and butchered everyone’s OTP (Guzman and Nadia). Comparatively, season 8 was much better. The writers seemed to not be taking themselves seriously anymore (ie. Joel confessing to Iván that he’s a prostitute💀), and characters like Isa actually had development, which MADE me care about them. In season 4, I couldn’t care less about the new characters. The triplets and the prince bulldozed their way in and wreaked havoc.

The downfall of Elite actually makes me so sad. When the first season came out I was obsessed, I loved the murder mystery of it all, the characters, the plot, everything. Season 2 and 3 were just as amazing and I was so excited every time a new season came out. Then the original characters started leaving and I just wasn't as invested in the new characters, they just didn't have connection or feeling the old cast had. It genuinely hurts me that I just stopped caring about this show :(
I’m fine with that concept & Elite did it slowly bc you kept seeing older people for a bit and they gave us those standalone eps It was like Skins to me The issue with the shows is messing up the new storylines, not them replacing the cast.

When they switched the writers for season 4, Netflix had starting asking writers for more scandalous shows, to attract viewers. So you could very well be right.
Lu being the killer makes sense to me, she was a privileged girl that could ask her dad 5k as an allowance and he would accept it, but after the Valerio secret her family cut her off financially and emotionally. When she did have something aka the scholarship, but when she loses it (meaning she has nothing and nobody left) she crashes out

I firmly believe that the show should have ultimately ended at season 3 and if they were going to bring it back with season 4 they should have just started with an entirely fresh new cast instead of ruining what remaining cast they had when they went into season 4 and onward

Serialized murder mystery shows really need to know when to end or it becomes ridiculous. Riverdale had the same issue, it couldve closed out after the 2nd season n gone on to be viewed as a decently good teen show but instead it decided to go off the rails. Its a worry i have for only murders in the building bc of how ridiculous it can get to continue a show based on a new murder occuring in the same building every season, i really hope they know when to stop it before it becomes yet another beloved show that runs itself to the ground.
This is going to be a hot take, but what was most interesting for me regarding the whole show was the treatment of a quite prevalent bias that exists towards Muslims here in Spain. I myself went to a public high school in the same city where Las Encinas is located (Madrid, the capital) and in general there's a LOT of elitism and racism quite blatant when you go to the upper class sides of the city. It's quite nasty, but it was so interesting to see from the perspective of Nadia and Omar. For me, it was a real pity that the show managed to forget what drew me in the first place: a mostly accurate criticism towards the elite class of Madrid.
I stopped watching somewhat early in season five a while after Isadora got introduced and Phillipe started his whole "I said sorry so I should be forgiven"-arch and I am glad I never watched far enough to see Isadora get assaulted too. It just never felt to me like they did not believe Cayetana was right. She was very much portrayed as hanging onto something that was resolved already and I think that portrayal was furthered by the fact that not one character was really shown to be on her side or there for her
Season 6 portrayed the whole SA thing very well. The topic was done with care and I loved it. Isadora had great character development. Also season 8 is amazing and better than the previous seasons apart from seasons 1-3

Like early on, that “therapist” seemed to imply he only did it because he was drunk?? And the short story played it like he was a romantic hero, who just made a small mistake. Despicable.
They should have made a new show if the new writers were going to completely ruin the main characters and change the plot entirely. It went from a compelling drama with mystery and intrigue (with a few bad plot points, I’ll admit) to a giant drug-fueled orgy. The way they blind-sided Miguel and ruined Guzman especially irks me…
Another thing thats a very clear representation of Elite turning into a nonsense were the uniforms, i'ts crazy how symbolical it feels when it would only make sense for it to be a coincidence. But remember how big of an issue was the fact that Nadia wasn´t allowed to wear her hijab to school on season 1? while on later seasons the characters didn't even bother to wear the uniforms propperly, this can be seen on the Chloe´s introduction with her oufit. On the first seasons they even had school related problems, on the later seasons it seems as if the school was only the place to gather the characters to suit the "plot" they weren´t there to study, they just appeared out of the blue together on school or on parties.
If you liked season 1, I do recommend watching the next two. They’re actually cohesive and build the characters around each other, unlike the other seasons

I love Elite and never have stopped loving it. But, undeniably after season 3 the quality did drop. For me though seasons 4-6 are still great but the mystery was nowhere near as well written as it was before. Season 7 was a huge disappointment, very forgettable. Season 8 however I LOVED and it’s quite close to the greatness of the first 3 seasons. The drama, the alumni and the mystery was just perfect. My only complaint is that I wish the og cast made a return for at least 1-2 scenes.
I was looking for something like this - I also kind of agree that the first few were great, I personally....couldn't really get behind Ari as the new Carla "it girl" replacement, but Isadora began to kind of carry me through the end and I actually....kind of really enjoyed the last two seasons? I liked Chloe and this new group of characters quite a lot, and for a series finale....I actually really liked the way they wrapped. Ended on a high note for me, actually, but I do agree I wish we got to see Carla or Lu or Guzman :/ maybe even a fanservice shot of every gen walking through the empty, abandoned halls of Las Encinas or something....

I love Blood and Water but it is slowly devolving into the same sex circus that Elite is. Hopefully they end on a high note in S5, bc honestly they’ve accomplished what they set out to do

The last season was definitely the best of the later seasons. It did remind me a lot of season 1. I need a spin off with Hector and Emilia so bad they were the best characters in that last season.
The first 3 seasons were amazing and should have ended then... the other seasons are just awful with poor acting, poor story plots, no character arcs that make sense, and no characters that the audience feels connections with. It's a shame, and because I tried to continue to watch the other seasons (4 and barely got thorough 5), I gave up. The whole original essence was gone and it became too trashy and dumb. Basically, I would rather watch season 8 of GoT, and that season should never exist. I really agree with most of your of your thoughts and enjoyed your reaction post. Thanks for sharing
what went wrong is that season 8 should have wrapped storylines and paid homage to characters they did dirty in previous seasons, but instead - they decided to stop taking anything seriously, to drop all character traits and common sense and to just go with the most generic, unfunny, unsexy, OOCfilled thing they could have given us... I'm still salty about: - why did they make Nadia drop her future and choose her family when her emancipation was HER thing that whole time? - what the hell happened with Nico's dysphoria? i get it, he's filling the trans character quota but it's a bummer that he just.., like 'outgrew' it or what??? - the treatment of black characters... - the way they showed Eric's battle with bipolar/shizophrenia sickened me. the way everyone kept referring to him as the 'crazy' one, although they did acknowledge he was taking his meds, trying to stay sane. the way he was suddenly hyper sexual again, even though he himself explained in season 7 that meds kill libido... just... so bad... - Ivan's totally random OOC decisions throughout the whole season. the storyline between Ivan, Chloe and Carmen was laughably unrealistic. especially considering the fact Ivan has no other family in sight. - the way they made Isa into a killer for NO REASON AT ALL!!! this decision still boggles my mind. moreover, after Luis was cuffed. there was no satisfaction on anyone's part from that killing (not Isa and definitely not the viewers...) - the way Omar didn't grow as a character at all, he remained this whiny, scared, pathetic pos who needed his sister to hold his hand to do the bare minimum of what was right.... extremely disappointing. i could probably go on indefinitely, but yes. huge letdown.

Since we couldn't get a perfect happy ending, with all the loose ends tied up, the closing scene was perfect for this. It was kinda jarring seeing middle class people in public school in contrast to the cast, they all looked ridiculously overdressed, wherein this was their normal outfits for 8 seasons.
I always considered Elite a show that wasn't really good but made you care about some characters and punishing the antagonists at some point. I watch it because its stupid drama happening to terrible, terrible people.

I'd say Elite should have 5 seasons in the series, because Samuel's death is a good closing for the end of the story. But season 8 is great, more intense in the entire series 😳 this one gives me the serial killer aspect and does have a shocking ending in the episode finale. I definitely added this final season as an ending after season 5. Ignore and skip 6 and 7, I make believe these two don't exist.
Elite season 1-3 and 4-8 are so different in quality they might aswell be completely different shows. Early Elite is one of my favourite TV shows, with interesting "mysteries", interesting characters and well-working interconnected relationships. After that it felt like trash TV to me. Everyone sleeps with whoever all the time even if it doesnt make sense..
The show itself, at least in my opnion, was always bad, from a predictable plot, to generic characters which have been done in past shows (Gossip Girl, 90210, Pretty Little Liars, the list goes on...), to poor writing and a weak character development, it wasn't good. It sure had its highs, there's a reason why it was so popular, but overall, the show was nothing more than an empty product

as someone who only watched s1 and kept up with season 2-3 through an hour long video before they became the norm, this has been very informative.

hilariously, the most ironic thing in season 8 was that the only likeable character left was Omar’s dad, and I hated his ass in the earlier seasons.

After Samuel's death I couldn't help but notice that they looooove to do the poor characters so dirty, the finale season I guess kinda did justice to them but it was so badly written
8 seasons of this but didnt bother to pay the creators of mindhunter(it wasnt a money problem but id assume getting payed 6 million or so more to make more seasons would make him see reason) more so he could keep making more seasons and whoever made kingdom
I left with Ester Exposito. She was the star
I love Elite and never have stopped loving it. But, undeniably after season 3 the quality did drop. For me though seasons 4-6 are still great but the mystery was nowhere near as well written as it was before. Season 7 was a huge disappointment, very forgettable. Season 8 however I LOVED and it’s quite close to the greatness of the first 3 seasons. The drama, the alumni and the mystery was just perfect. My only complaint is that I wish the og cast made a return for at least 1-2 scenes.
I was looking for something like this - I also kind of agree that the first few were great, I personally....couldn't really get behind Ari as the new Carla "it girl" replacement, but Isadora began to kind of carry me through the end and I actually....kind of really enjoyed the last two seasons? I liked Chloe and this new group of characters quite a lot, and for a series finale....I actually really liked the way they wrapped. Ended on a high note for me, actually, but I do agree I wish we got to see Carla or Lu or Guzman :/ maybe even a fanservice shot of every gen walking through the empty, abandoned halls of Las Encinas or something....
Chloe hat potential to be my all time favorite, but of course the writers had to ruin that.
Elite should have been 2 seasons. The first season and seasons 2 & 3 should have been combined into one.
Have I watched the show after s4? No
Will I still very much watch the whole video and enjoy it? Yes

I love Blood and Water but it is slowly devolving into the same sex circus that Elite is. Hopefully they end on a high note in S5, bc honestly they’ve accomplished what they set out to do

The last season was definitely the best of the later seasons. It did remind me a lot of season 1. I need a spin off with Hector and Emilia so bad they were the best characters in that last season.
As a gay man myself everyone doesn’t need to be gay in a movie or show one person is enough and the whole murdering classmates is a no for me

The first 3 seasons were amazing and should have ended then... the other seasons are just awful with poor acting, poor story plots, no character arcs that make sense, and no characters that the audience feels connections with.
It's a shame, and because I tried to continue to watch the other seasons (4 and barely got thorough 5), I gave up. The whole original essence was gone and it became too trashy and dumb. Basically, I would rather watch season 8 of GoT, and that season should never exist.

what went wrong is that season 8 should have wrapped storylines and paid homage to characters they did dirty in previous seasons, but instead - they decided to stop taking anything seriously, to drop all character traits and common sense and to just go with the most generic, unfunny, unsexy, OOCfilled thing they could have given us... I'm still salty about:
- why did they make Nadia drop her future and choose her family when her emancipation was HER thing that whole time?
- what the hell happened with Nico's dysphoria? i get it, he's filling the trans character quota but it's a bummer that he just.., like 'outgrew' it or what???
- the treatment of black characters...
- the way they showed Eric's battle with bipolar/shizophrenia sickened me. the way everyone kept referring to him as the 'crazy' one, although they did acknowledge he was taking his meds, trying to stay sane. the way he was suddenly hyper sexual again, even though he himself explained in season 7 that meds kill libido... just... so bad...
- Ivan's totally random OOC decisions throughout the whole season. the storyline between Ivan, Chloe and Carmen was laughably unrealistic. especially considering the fact Ivan has no other family in sight.
- the way they made Isa into a killer for NO REASON AT ALL!!! this decision still boggles my mind. moreover, after Luis was cuffed. there was no satisfaction on anyone's part from that killing (not Isa and definitely not the viewers...)
- the way Omar didn't grow as a character at all, he remained this whiny, scared, pathetic pos who needed his sister to hold his hand to do the bare minimum of what was right.... extremely disappointing.
i could probably go on indefinitely, but yes. huge letdown.
when they kept adding new characters for no reason and without any actual explanation on why they're there they lost me. Isadora kinda just appeared out of nowhere and I really liked her character later on but it felt weird how she was introduced

Since we couldn't get a perfect happy ending, with all the loose ends tied up, the closing scene was perfect for this. It was kinda jarring seeing middle class people in public school in contrast to the cast, they all looked ridiculously overdressed, wherein this was their normal outfits for 8 seasons.

I believe after season 4 that’s when I stopped watching I lost interest when all of the original casts left.
I always considered Elite a show that wasn't really good but made you care about some characters and punishing the antagonists at some point. I watch it because its stupid drama happening to terrible, terrible people.
I'm so glad I stopped watching at Season 5. It was already a big drop in quality from the first 3 seasons. After seeing Samuel die and all the old cast gone, I didn't have belief the future seasons would be good lol.

Once the core cast leaves it's hard to stay interested when side characters run the season.
Once Patrick slept with old boy Daddy and revealed it at the soccer ⚽️ press conference and then got beat up that night and killed it was all over for real, really after Samuel died
There were no more storylines in the show anymore. Just floater characters. S3 should’ve been the last.

I'd say Elite should have 5 seasons in the series, because Samuel's death is a good closing for the end of the story. But season 8 is great, more intense in the entire series 😳 this one gives me the serial killer aspect and does have a shocking ending in the episode finale. I definitely added this final season as an ending after season 5. Ignore and skip 6 and 7, I make believe these two don't exist.

Simple. The show should have ended after Season 3. Once the original cast mostly left or was killed off, the magic was gone.
Elite season 1-3 and 4-8 are so different in quality they might aswell be completely different shows.
Early Elite is one of my favourite TV shows, with interesting "mysteries", interesting characters and well-working interconnected relationships.
After that it felt like trash TV to me. Everyone sleeps with whoever all the time even if it doesnt make sense..

The show itself, at least in my opnion, was always bad, from a predictable plot, to generic characters which have been done in past shows (Gossip Girl, 90210, Pretty Little Liars, the list goes on...), to poor writing and a weak character development, it wasn't good. It sure had its highs, there's a reason why it was so popular, but overall, the show was nothing more than an empty product
S8 was the worst. Almost as bad as season 4.

Elite first seasons were so good then it turned to a completely other show. How they can replace important characters and make new ones? Do they really thought people are gonna watch this and think „wow new characters every season“ bye no I stopped watching after season 3
