Noticed that there two weapons, that didn't make it to last versions Sniper rifle - assault rifle, but shoot slower and pierce through targets Explosive SMG - shoots fast, and with explosive projectiles, there is example 3:54
I really liked the last Contra Operation Galuga game, is the most decent Contra game that Konami has made in years, but honestly, I really missed the uncomfortable feeling and atmosphere, Iron Meat is EXACTLY what I want from their future titles, something with more grotesque and terrifying overtones (for me Contra 3 The Alien Wars is the last Contra game that really knew how to do this). Guys, you did a great job with Iron Meat, one of the things that still amazes me the most is the concept of meatification, I mean, it's taking an techno-organic concept and making it further, with more mundane and mutated objects elevated to really cool and grotesque high levels. We are so used to seeing humanoid or animal mutations on videogames, that it´s very DIFFICULT to think of a virus that can form symbiosis with metal and turn it into a evil living being. Seriously, the member of your work team who came up with that concept is a true GENIUS. Sorry my english.
No, your English is fine. 😄 Speak out my thought better than I am able to. 😁 The meatification is indeed a genius touch on the game. I hope this style can be expanded into a series of “Meati-verse” 😎.
You are a gift to the Indie/Retro Gaming Community. Your two titles have more dedication and love than most triple A games. I loved introducing your games to my family.
Thank you for sharing! Jeez, this is befitting a "Making Of"-book, with concepts, level layouts, abandoned designs, commentary, etc!!! >>> Meat Mode: The Art and Making of IRON MEAT
I think the Meat Bike level would've been cool! I wish you guys hadn't cut it... Oh well, I'm still super excited about this game. It looks and sounds as great as it plays!
5:34 It's incredible, I think I could never imagine such alpha development, everything looked horrible and practical, but that's what makes it more incredible, after a passage of time it had a graphic improvement, gameplays and designs even more incredible but... I didn't think that I would also find out about a news that I had been wondering about when the game was released, I expected that level not because I liked it or anything, but because it made it exciting as if Dead Space was about you are in a level of terrain and shooting, one day suddenly you are flying and shooting... I'll be honest, I'm upset in a good way but I also understand that I thought it wasn't going well in that direction, I know, but still believe me that it made it fun to explore everything, I even thought we would see a level where you pilot a mecha or whatever that made sense, most of the levels were liked but at the same time that variety feels like they forgot something... Even so, what's done is done, if that's how you're proud then I will be too, but please if anyone is up for a DLC, put in 2 levels, one with a flying motorcycle and one where you play with a mecha (even if it's small XD), because Dev... the Iron Meat premise requires it!
@Retroware, I'm so excited for this game. I love the 16 bit esthetic idk if you guys are going to see this comment but I would love to see a video game from you guys like metroid or TMNT or and spoof of 80s and 90s cartoons,tv shows or movies hell it be cool to see a spoof of different 80s movies as a game and each level could parody a different movie and the box art could be like a VHS box but that's my recommendations big fan can't wait to see what else you have cooked up for the future!
Iron Meat is gorgeous game. I am happy You release it and I enjoy it a lot. Thanks for documentary on it's development, I found those stories very interesting and insightful. Could You say something more about cut flying segments? Or about Mars location?
Meat, Guns, and Cyborg in 90s Metal Slug mode (or more Contra mode). I hope this style can be expanded into a whole series of “Meati-verse” . 😎 Except the bosses, the enemies' attacks are a bit under-powered, especially for those stationary turrets (could be multi-pattern atk or larger projectiles which split into mini projectiles in midway). The power-up can be placed more sparingly in harder-to-reach location, then Iron Meat will go from Marvelous to Awesome!!👍🏻

I love the hero design he looks like if his grandfather was doomguy and his father was master chief
Man, the changes over the last 7 years are pretty crazy. Excited to see this finally coming out.
It’s been a long time coming. Thank you! 🙌

I like how it gradually went from original Contra to Hard Corps
More like to Doom Troopers

Glad you enjoyed it!
@@retrowaretv LOVE behind-the-scenes stuff like this. Let us know when that book I mentioned is ready to go!!! 😉
FUN GAME: Take half a shot of vodka each time you hear meat in this video
33 times. So, 33 shots. That’s about 50 ounces or 1463 ml, about two bottles of vodka. 🎉
@Retroware you guys have done an amazing job with Iron Meat 😊 I just pre ordered this for Nintendo Switch and I'm so excited to play this
Fantastic!
I think the Meat Bike level would've been cool! I wish you guys hadn't cut it...
Oh well, I'm still super excited about this game. It looks and sounds as great as it plays!

Всегда интересно посмотреть, и узнать то как проект выглядел изначально, и что же в нём со временем менялось)

Fun fact - the living building you fight in city level is a Shawarma shack.
This game is awesome, I played the whole thing in a single sitting while streaming it! I'd say it's the best Contra-like I ever played
Final product is Contra: The Thing.
Отлично выглядит, давно в желаемом в стиме лежит.
8:03 its the same that works with super Cyborg
Which game engine was used for the game's development?
Wait, that took 7 years? Jesus... Thats an indie game. 3 guys should be able to do it in a year.
They are probably doing it in spare time, not as a full time project.
What is the train monster train model based off of?
hehe Nuclear Throne weapons xd
Do you know about Contra Hard Corps?
Devs: So how 90s cool and extreme do you want this?
Everyone: Yes.
Greetings Retrowave, some question
Will Iron Meat gets a version for Android and iPhone?
They probably might not make it yet as the game will be quite heavy, but I'm hopeful too.
@@jabezsalamanca7441 it's possible they can, just like Huntdown.
Will physical be available? Just found out about this! 😮
Yes!
@@Queue_SS where though? Some physical releases if you missed the preorder window you’re out of luck!
Check out the link in the description!
The Iron Meat boss reminds me of Big Fuzz from contra 3 the alien wars
And that's what I like about it
It is more difficult to work with pixel graphics than with 3d.
You just jump and shoot. JUMPNSHOOT MAN!!!!!!
The game is so short and now you're telling me you scrapped some levels?
Time to Beat some Meat! Not in that way! With my Big Hard iron! Not in that way either so get ready to Defeat that MEAT!!!
so the alpha is basically contra
I will say that the iron serpent is the coolest boss in this game. I mean it's a damn train, come on.
7 лет... ух...
I finished this game on steam deck it's beat contra and metal slug easy
🔥🔥🔥🔥
