    Great video, I read somewhere that it does not really matter which side is positive.... What is the effect if you connect a tweeter backwards? Thanks!

    Hi nice video - I’m hoping you can help me out..based off your advice I tried the speaker pop app....I have 2016 Dodge Charger with the 6 speaker alpine system. When I test the stock speakers using the app set to BAL...I get the passages side of the car showing as positive polarity front and back but get the drive side as negative both front and back....is this normal for this car?

    But aren't there only like 6 working Apple I computers left in the world? There's got to be an easier way... 🙃

    This looks like a great way of finding the polarity. But could you not just hook up the multimeter you already used?

    This was an awesome video. I dont know why manufacturers dont label their tweeters. Thanks Dean. Very helpful!

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its one of 2 things that has become a combo of both through time. One....manufacturers expect the installer to verify polarity as part of proper setup. Two....a line can be interpreted as neg while no line could also be. I've seen both from manufacturers through the years especially when speakers are c made by different OEMS. So that loose interpretation, inconsistencies at the factory plus reason #1 comes into play.

    OK so i unintentionally installed all my speakers in a standard 4 speaker system as negative polarity. pop tested them and they are all negative polarity. is there a sound quality benefit to rewiring then to positive polarity. if so why?

    i have "Polarity Checker" for android. My favorite is how well it works half of the time! That other half leaves me plenty of time to search for something else.
    Not many apps do that!
    I was honestly just messing with my tweeters and their damn polarity... i opted not to bother with that app.

    You can check the polarity with a 1.5v batery. If you connected right the tweeter cone will move foward meaning that the positive cable is the one on the batery positive. If the cone moves back means the polarity is reverse the cable connected to the batery positive is the negative for the tweeter.

    Weird thing is on focal k2 power kr2 wiring correctly to the crossover the tweeters are reversed have yall dealt with that yet?

    • @picassoimpaler3243
      @picassoimpaler3243 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is a bit late, but I can almost guarantee they are wired that way because of the type of XO that is used. It is probably using a 12db/oct XO which gives a 180 degree phase shift between the speakers at the XO point. So by the XO swapping polarity it brings the speakers back into phase at the XO region instead of them expecting the public to know that they need to swap polarity themselves.

    • @DirtySouthFlorida3
      @DirtySouthFlorida3 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@picassoimpaler3243 yeah also i noticed reversed polarity on tweeters sounds better out of phase. I have a 3 way setup mids on doors playing high pass and the 3 inch focals and tweeter out of phase sounds amazing and warm and its actually in phase at the listener
