Here is the correct TH-cam video to play while testing Speaker Polarity / Phase Check - Test Track for the FH-168 Test Tool for Better Mid Bass Full Sound th-cam.com/video/mzpQlMVwkEQ/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the info. I ordered a V2 plug and play system from you for my wife's RG3 and it's awesome. Thank you for the polarity checker with my order. Her motorcycle was wired correctly. 3 years ago I had a Soundz system installed on my bike. My 4 rear channel speakers were wired opposite from my fairing. For 3 years I've been riding around with inferior sound. Not anymore, Thanks again.
Thanks, Jay! My TourPack speakers are out of phase with the fairing speakers. The tester made for a quick diagnostic with your testing track. Now, I have to find my installation instructions to get those grilles off!
@@volunteeraudio Boom! $17 for the polarity tester was absolutely a fantastic buy! That was really the turning point for what the hell is wrong with my upgraded stereo! It turned out the speaker grill removal was a simple, gentle prying around the edge. I’m glad that the Hertz coax both have the narrow spade connectors. The original Harley speaker had a wide spade and a narrow spade and so when I installed the new speakers. I observed the polarity from the old ones. I wonder if they wire them out of phase intentionally to encourage upgrades?
I followed all the videos to install my system from you guys. This test should have been done before installing the fairing. Now I have to take the fairing apart again
Bought a MAA4.400 with a pair of Hertz SX165 NEO and SV165 NEO for my Road Glide Limited. Everything was great until I fired it up and heard almost no bass. Quick chat with your guy Scotty, ordered the $17 polarity tester, and all is right now. Easy-peasy. Thanks.
Another thing to consider checking is iPhone EQ settings. My new Vol system had very little base and sound a little off. Set eq to “r&b” setting and totally different sound for the better
Wow jay, I'll admit I was skeptical, But I broke down a spent the $17. Lol I purchased my precision power plug in play kit from You a few months back.. I was totally happy with it until I bought this polarity checker.. Both bag speakers. Wires were backwards , It sounds so much better definitely worth the money.. It's almost like I gained volume, Has way more bass than it did before. 2021 rgs
Hello I think you have this wrong… this how is supposed to be: Perfect for safely troubleshooting and testing o systems. Play section 1 or 2, can check the left/right channel connection is right or not. Play section 3 or 4, the sound speaker will produce a fixed frequency signal. Press the 'test' button on the phasemeter, 3 green light flash and 1 red light indicates that the speaker output is in positive phase (correct connection) ; 3 red light flash and 1 green light indicates that the speaker output is in negative phase (reversed connection).
No, I don’t have it wrong, we want all the speakers in the same phase to get full sound, 3 green and 1 red flash indicates correct polarity or phase but the issue we are addressing will be fixed as long as all the speakers match. You will not hear an audible difference as long as all the speakers are in the same phase or polarity
Is there any way to check the polarity prior to assembling the fairing? I have my new speakers installed in the pods. I am waiting on the grills to come in and it would be great to be able to check these before all the work to put it back together.
@volunteeraudio wanting a hertz stage 4 package with v2 soundstrem radio from your site in a 2023 roadglide that has only 2 front speakers and factory carplay.screen.
Hey there. Is there a video you can provide to check the wiring? I have your tester in hand, but do not know how to fix my issue with having no bass. :/
@@volunteeraudio thank you for the reply! I have found that both my speakers are in phase however I am still not getting a solid mid sound and treble is very high. Any help on this by chance?
Got the unit and tested all the speakers and one was off. I switched the negative to positive and still same results. Is the speaker bad and should I replace?
Finished my Stage 4 install that I got from Volunteer Audio, Hertz 1000w amp and checked all speakers, they were all “in phase”. I now added the Precision Audio Drop In Subwoofer to the Left Bag. It is “out of phase”. How can I change it? I really do not want to have to reverse the polarity of all the other speakers to match the Sub. That’s like a whole new install AGAIN. Any easy solutions to this? Thank you in advance.
If your using a soundstream radio you can reverse subwoofer polarity in the radio, if your using a stock radio you will need to swap polarity at all speakers
LOL, after watching this, I checked my Harley 2020 Ultra. None of the speakers give me 3 reds and a green OR 3 greens and a red! They all do something different (tried all volumes no backgound noise) I get 2 reds a green, 4 reds 2 greens, 1 red 4 greens, No Consistancy between any two speakers…. Now what? Does that mean they are ALL wired incorrectly? If so, does it matter? Does that make them OK?
Adjust the volume to a normal lower listening level, you need a quiet environment around you and retest, do not try and read the tweeter, point toward the woofer of the speaker to the side
@@volunteeraudioUPDATE…. I was getting Tweeter interference. Worked well now Tour pack was out of Phase. Sounds sooo much better, wow. BUT it doesn’t matter for long, I ordered your Stage 4 kit yesterday with a battery and the Performance Power Sub for the saddle bag. I got the “just shipped” notice from your store today. In a couple days I’ll be checking my own work too! Now I know how. Wish me luck with install!

Once again, Jay, you were correct. My rear Hertz 6x9 were in reverse polarity. The factory HD harness was wired backwards. Thanks again!
I’m sure it sounds much better!
Same here! Just tested mine and the rear 6x9 hertz were out of phase with the front. Thanks Jay

I always check before I put the fairing on, just power it up and do the same test I outlined in the video
Do you cut outside or inside when you do the resr template kits?

good video Jay
Thank you!
Have you every done a polarity test in the beginning of the install ?
I have not but I know the outcome, the stock speakers are out of phase too
Do you have to take the front speakers out to change the wire
Yes, or you can repin the plug outside of the enclosure
What if all speakers are going 3 reds and a green? Am I good or should I reverse them all?
As long as they all match you are good
I have one speaker that can't match up to other three. What could be the problem? Stock wiring on harley ultra classic low 2016.
Swap the speaker wires on that speaker and retest, point to the woofer of the speaker with the tester, not the tweeter

If you find a speaker is out of phase or opposite from the others you reverse the speaker wires at that speaker

Make sure you test the mid of the speaker, not the tweeter, also adjust volume until you get consistent results
Do I have to flash a radio that came off a 2023 Street Glide to a 2016 Road Glide special?
Maybe, but the radio should turn on in the other bike, flash changes sound based on having an amplifier or not

Ok
Thank you
I will try putting it in and see what will happen
