Nailed it. Watching golf nowadays feels like watching a tournament with a bunch of drunk frat boys screaming at the top of their lungs after a shot is hit 🤣 I remember when it wasn't that way.
I’ll never forget the first time I saw Ernie Ells play on TV. I believe it was a British Open around 1992 when he was about 21 years old. I couldn’t believe such a smooth easy swing could hit the ball with such power. It was obvious he was going to be a top level player.
the difference between their swings: it's possible, with great effort and patience and some luck, to learn Ernie's swing. This is impossible for Fred's swing.
I truly think you can’t teach smooth tempo. Good tempo yes but smooth tempo is natural in my opinion. No one will be able to create Ken Griffey Jr swing in baseball either
what production genius decided to stick an update label over each shot where the player is setting up, obscuring the ball, the hole, the golfer's feet and club and the perspective to the hole. I mean can't you put it up in the corner and make it a little smaller? For Heaven's sake.
Probably the two biggest under achievers in the history of golf. Ernie has won four majors in his career, but with his incredible amount of talent, should have won at the very least double that quantity, and in my opinion even the grand slam. He made many bad swings when in contention, resulting in disappointing bogeys at the wrong time. As for Freddie, I can’t believe he only has one major, it doesn’t make sense!
it makes perfect sense in both cases, and this match demonstrates their strengths and weaknesses perfectly...ernie drives inconsistently, and couples can't putt to save his life. if they weren't such great golfers neither could score at all...but since they are two of the best to ever play golf, their weaknesses were often overcome by their greatness...like the 2 iron recovery by els, or the number of perfect drives and perfect darts couples threw in order to make a few close putts.
i would say, two of the biggest over achievers. if only els would have thrown away his woods, and played with just irons, he probably would have been unbeatable, since he always beat himself, usually off the tee. and couples was too laidback to learn to putt...i mean look at that stupid grip he used!! what great putter ever held a club that way?
Ernie els had a loopy wonkie stroke his whole career … dumbis as dumb does … even the greatest players in the world 🌎- can win majors and lots of $$ with a wonky stroke .. - as long as that ball starts where you intended ! 🏌🏽♂️#KISS
If these two hacks were the best the PGA Tour had to offer, I will quit my job and turn professional. Started playing golf seven months ago, and I'm already a 12 handicap.
@@charleskunze7290 not only that. Play some pro mini tour events. See if you can beat them. These touring professionals are a different breed. It's alot harder than what people think it is.
I just LOVE the fact that there is no "GET IN THE HOLE!" after every shot. My ears want to thank you classy British Columbia.
True but this was also skins match and in 1998.
That was not happening any where at this time it started years after. I think it all started about 5 years after Tiger came on tour.
seriously

Canadians yell get in the butthole instead. 😅
These Shell matches are awesome! These two guys are pure class; Fred Couples is probably my all-time favorite golfer.
Fred banged a lot of girls at my sorority
Two easygoing guys just killing it- this is my favorite so far of the shell matches I’ve seen- thanks for uploading this classic face off
Two laid back guys with smooth swings!
Two of the greatest swings ever. And amazed that Ernie is able to play in this horrendous outfit! 😂
Two sweet swingers! Very smooth players, and men.
Arguably the two sweetest swings ever.....
Battle of the best tempo....
Two of the most relaxed swings ever, every golfer needs to emulate this🏌️🏾♂️
I loved this video growing up. Both my favourite players. Great upload thanks
super show. thanks for showing it. love Shell's wonderful World of Golf. Why the heck don't they bring it back?? WTF!
I was able to attend this and it was great. Having played this course, his shot on 17 was unreal.
A ball striking display by both guys but not so much on the greens. Still, love, love, love the SWWOG format.
The battle of the smooth. My two favorite golf swings ever
Relaxed swings on a crazy wild course! Look at those greens!

I remember watching him on the range and the balls would take off like plane off a aircraft carrier, so low and climb - was beautiful to watch
thank you for the share and uploead really !
imagine you could blend their DNA. SUPERGOLFING GOD
this is an amazing golf match. what a par save by els

Touched myself throughout the whole duration
What a beautiful course

They're starting a new series this year, calling it "Couples Wonderful World of Golf". Watch for it ⛳
Take a shot of booze every time Whitaker says "Freddie".
awesome, thanks!
Fred Couples swing=smoooooooth!
2 of the best swings
God what a beautiful course
2 favorites
I think Freddy might have had a few painkillers to loosen the back.
Do you have the 1965 Hogan vs. Snead?
Battle of grooviest swing
Freddie whoopin on all these 2/3/4 x major champions & he has 1 major (the best one ☝️ tho I guess)
I love to watch Golf, but the video quality is poor
In the words of my late neighbor Gil; "too much overcommentating" lol
I am91 now
And was always a Fred Couples fan, I watched most of these matches on tv .Ithink he won about 10 matches in a row and finally lost t Phil Michelson.
Ernie Els - “ahh little thick” 8 ft from the cup
Think that was more like 12 feet.
Masterclass in Tempo
Wow, Ernie actually made four footers

Els couldn't buy a putt

Course reporter is a TOOL.
optimisticcosmic he sure is, “els has this putt to save a shot” no shit. Every putt EVERY putt is to save a shot. What an ijit
Who the hell is the younger announcer that can't shut the hell up?
Edit: 33:34 "Freddie's dog seems a bit concerned at the moment" made up for it.

Freds first wife jumped to her death after the divorce I think.
This Johnny pencil pusher commentator hopefully was let go after this
18:24
Total Cringe worthy presenters so obviously biased toward Freddie.
Xx😅😮
Couples. Most overrated player in golf history
filmed with a potato.
Who is the color guy, he's a tad annoying

Two hall of gamers you call hacks...you aren't good enough to park there cars. Get off the lady Tee's and play the blacks!
