The epic Freddy Couples. The hang time on that 2 iron shot at 16...just unreal. Never a better swing in history imo. Technically, yes, but no one has that rhythm. He's just the man.
Smoothest swing I've ever seen. Growing up all the golfers my age tried to mimic Tiger. Best advice I could give my youngest self would be to model Couples.
@@hillbilly4333 Yeah ..I won't argue some of your points. He has a standoffish personality that could be misinterpreted as snobby and he definitely left a lot on the table production wise. I'd argue that a ton of it was from his back. As for being overrated, I disagree. He's a real player and has a great work ethic despite what some may think about his casual approach. The fact that he's still playing (and producing) at 61 is phenomenal. And true, he's not a real tactician, but he doesn't have to be. His swing is one of a kind and I wish I could do the same. Some people just make life look easy. And yes, one major is true. But he won The Players twice. Arguably the best field of any tournament. That's good enough for me to be in the Hall.
@@magnuscroify this. this. Freddie could just straight pure it with any club in his bag... except one. Which really scared opponents when he started making them.
LOVED this, thanks for the upload!! Loved it for 2 reasons....1- it's Freddy, c'mon. And 2- I play Tiger Woods PGA Tour and this course is one of my favorites, cool to see it played for real.
Part of the apparent reaching is the aspect ratio of the video, recorded for the old small aspect ratio, but played on wide aspect ratio. Even makes people shorter and wider. 🙃 He does reach slightly, but not like it looks here.
10:50 I could see where he was aiming was totally off. He needed to be aiming a good 6 or 7 ft left of the cup and feed it down to the right from there
Wanna see the most powerful hip turn ever in the game at this time?? go to @5:38 Where he smokes a drive on hole 11. They look at his unbelievable hip turn... That swing will go down in history as the best ever....

@@Garret_bruh_homey for sure. I've been trying since '92...with some success, but mostly failure. Nearly impossible, but I keep trying!

Over the years I've watched this dozens of times. Thanks for posting with Fred 's commentary
That swing is a piece of art
1:47 So much power for an effortless swing.
Same swing, setup, tempo, and pre-shot routine for decades. That's impressive.
Had this on VHS back in the day; multiple re-watches. Fred is the king of smooth
Had Mr Couples not had his injuries and back problems I think he would have been a multiple major winner
Or if he had been a marginally better putter...
@@magnuscroify this. this. Freddie could just straight pure it with any club in his bag... except one. Which really scared opponents when he started making them.
Fred is beyond gifted!!! What a wonderful guy, and that swing is like they say in New York, it's like butta!!!!
The best swing that ever was or will be
Prettiest swing I've ever seen.
11:51 you know how clutch that teeshot is. Pured that with water all down the left with all that pressure to pull forward. insane.
The sound of Freddie flushing that 2 iron tho……😮🫣🤤so pure. Mic or no mic that exploded off that club face.
dead on the screws
More enjoyable than watching golf is 2024!
Back when Freddie could really step on one when he needed it. With today's equipment in his prime, yeah, I'd like to see that.
Couples' swing and Greg Norman's are the best I've ever seen.
love having the freddy couples videos, keep them coming!

In the 90's I said hi to Freddie on a range in California, royalty of golf.
Ahhh the good ol’e days when there wasn’t any damn cell phones out everywhere🙄
No dought brother
in 1996 the average distance to pin on 2nd shot on sunday was 219 yards. in 2019 it was 171 yards. 2 irons turned into 8 and even 9 irons
Which hole are you talking about?
@@A-FrameWedge 16 on sawgrass. did you watch video?
If not for all the back injuries, Couples might have won 7-8 majors. His swing was so effortless and smooth.
I'd blame the flat stick a heck of a lot more than his back....
Man his contact sounds like a bull whip. Perfect timing. I never noticed how far he seems to be "reaching" at address...

His golf swing is smooth. A lot of golfers have mechanical swings that's more for power and a clutch like feel
These drives make me nostalgic for those steel-faced drivers before all the fancy metals. Such a satisfying sound.
No dought I actually have a 1996 Titleist Driver I've had for 2 decades and it was given to me when I played golf in highschool. It is my baby
I still have my old S2H2's, they get taken care of and hit every year. edit: I can still step on one from light rough with that 5 metal.
Freddy's swing is sweet and almost effortless, indeed! I've also admired Colin Montgomery's swing, as well.
The one and only, Fred Couples!
Great to watch a great guy loved it
素晴らしいスイングです。魅了されます

I love it......no phones!
Smooth as butter
His 3 wood was given to him by Tom Watson. It was actually Tom's wife club.
thanks for üpload,great golf
Even the commentators say his putting was embarrassing
Freddy had great tempo on all his shots except for the short putts. Was and is my favorite player.
What a gentleman. I always been a fan of this talented player.
Fred, greatest guy ever
Fred the only pro where he wasn't sure where the ball was going to go
What a player.
1:48 sounded like a whip
He won in 84 how old was he,??
10:50 I could see where he was aiming was totally off. He needed to be aiming a good 6 or 7 ft left of the cup and feed it down to the right from there
This PGA was way better then today's
That tiny little 3W of his was actually a ladies Driver on a men's shaft. Used it a lot off the tee.

Johnny Miller was annoying as hell but a good player.
