    Thanks for the review. Have you driven the M2 Comp? How would you compare the two with regards to driving dynamics and engine power delivery?

    • @BrianMakse

      Yes. They’re very similar. I much prefer the M2 CS, but that’s another story. The Z4 is great.

    Great video as always. I was the person who asked you about driving position and hand position on the wheel, a couple weeks ago...and would like to think that I had a small (very small) part in this video!
    How did your first round of golf for the year go? Take care.

      Yeah, that’s been on my mind. This final word thing sprung from that and more to come. As for golf, managed a few killer drives, a couple of pars, and a bird, but most importantly I had a great day with my homey. I’d love to get out again soon.

    The 10 to 2 steering wheel method is still mandatory in many countries driving instructions to obtain a licence and is an excellent method for teaching drivers how to first learn to drive, I don’t think you should be discouraging it, most drivers get into very bad habits after a short period of time and are the cause of most accidents better to criticise the nanny state driving electronics in modern cars like the Z4 which drivers rely on and then can’t deal with breakaway oversteer when it occurs. Because cars are so easy to drive today 90% of drivers are just not concentrating and assume the safety systems will take care of everything, fortunately in the BMW you can still turn most of it off including active cruise control. Personally I don’t buy cars if you can’t turn it all off it’s a deal breaker.

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  ปีที่แล้ว

      Let me help you with that: th-cam.com/video/ErK4N5H620M/w-d-xo.html
      10 and 2 is the opposite of excellent. That teaches bad habits from the start primarily because it's from another era...unless I've missed something and new drivers are still learning to drive in cars from the 1940s. Modern cars are designed for 9 and 3.

    • @Tracertme

      @@BrianMakse I might not have your racing pedigree as I have only raced in Radical SR3 open top with slicks and sequential transmission, with real down force, but I don’t think this kind of driving relates to street drivers well at all. It’s a case of leaving everything you learned for a road licence at the gate and start again. for young novice drivers 10-2 teaches them how to gain feel and confidence about the gradual progression of wheel movement versus actual total vehicle transitions of direction inputs. Personally I am never in favour of turning your arms into a locked over arms position because at that point the wheel often has more to go and young drivers are in a mess as to what to do next. In modern cars with power steering and lock to lock ratio’s becoming more race car like this is less of an issue but that tends to be the more expensive vehicles. The 9-3 approach is fine in time but often immediately becomes elbow on the door and hand at 9 and goodness knows what the other hand is doing…

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tracertme I may not have your racing pedigree as I have only raced in several professional series including short course off road trucks, won only a couple of national titles in American club racing, and have been teaching racing and performance driving for a just couple of decades. 10 and 2 is outdated. 9 and 3 is intuitive and modern steering wheels are designed for it. Modern steering rack ratios aren't becoming quicker, save for a very small number of specialist cars. I won't encourage you to start your own TH-cam channel because modern drivers don't need any more bad ideas from eras gone by.

    Hey Brian, how does the M compare with my 981 Spyder? Lots of peeps prefer the M2 CS, which is not an apples to apples comparison. Great channel btw, better than Smoking Tire, imho. Although you and Matt could be “brothers from another mother”.😹😹

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is a soft-M, really, not even worthy of comparison to your Spyder. Slower, softer, sloppier, but perhaps a little more livable day to day. Haven't tried M2 CS yet for various reason, so can't comment. I'm not a fan of the M2 as it is, so CS could go either way for me.
      Matt and I have known each other for years! I've done plenty of TST podcasts, check them out!

    Hi Brian another excellent video as we've come to expect from you. Last time we chatted we had a differing of opinion re. the Lexus LC500 which you preferred and the RCF which I preferred. Come Saturday I have arranged a test drive with the RCF which I thought I'd made up my mind on. However, a collegue at work has a Lotus Esprit V8 which I've taken a ride in and was v. impressed. I've also had a ride in a Porsche 928 GTS and was impressed by that too. I'd like to call on your experience as a race driver and ask if you have any experience of either the Lotus or the Porsche. Any imput will be most welcome. Thanks. :-)

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wish I had something for you there, but it’s been years since I pedaled a 928 and I doubt I’ve ever sat in an Esprit. Still, the LC500 is a favourite!

    😂. There is no lag on the manual shift. You ever driven a corvette with paddles. Now that has lag. I drove this back to back with a pdx boxter and felt zero difference. Great overall review though

    • @adventuresofjandk

      @@BrianMakse no but like I said I drove the dual clutch pdx from Porsche which is considered by most to be one of best best on the market and it was no better. Drove them back to back for reference. Not sure how much faster you guys expect these automatics to be.

    • @BrianMakse
      @BrianMakse  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I actually preferred the looks of prior generation, it was sexy and different inside and out. The exterior of this new one is not bad, but it can almost be anything like a Miata or that Fiat Miata. As for interior that cup holder inside arm rest is just stupid and lack of Apple Play or forcing people to pay is just crazy. This is a cruiser and those misses makes it a no go even if it is quick. The BMW straight six is still the best thing about BMW. Thanks for the great review.
