- With the Toyota Supra being a few months off and Eventuri itching to get development started a G29 Z4 M40i was purchased to let them get a head start before the Supra arrives.
As BMW guys we took the car for a spin and had a closer look at the features of the new G29 Z4 M40i, is it as good as people say? And how does it compare the Supra?

Being an owner of the 2020 Z4 M40i that I took delivery of June 1...it is absolutely amazing!!! I could not be happier with it!
I am taking delivery of my M40i the day after tomorrow.... I can harly wait

Just purchased the carbon air box for my Z 4. Its beautiful under the hood along with performs well. I hope you continue your R and D on BMW Z 4 performance products

Congratulations on getting the Queen's Award Enterprise Imran et al. - well deserved after seeing the great customer support and product quality you guys have. Not a Z4 roadster fan either, but you guys chose the right colour/spec for it. For a 'GT style' cruiser, its impressive that its faster than the (quoted more powerful) M2 N55 around the Nordschleife, so I can only wonder how you guys can extract the Supra's potential. Keep up the great work.

Looking to get a F10 M5 as money for value probably one of the best cars atm these guys will defo be doing a stage 2 to it wouldn't trust any other company to map a BMW apart them these guys

2019 Supra Mk. V has the B58B30C while the 2020 Z4 MDrive40i has the 58B30O1 engine and there are some internal differences in part numbers.
Ive heard about that, what are the differences??
@@X1xRiGox3X Mostly some internal parts and probably. One guy at R&T specified the difference in part numbers, and it was reposted at Jalopnik.

Try revving out to redline and upshift. It will lag compared to DCT and lag a lot if you ask to be downshifted near redline. Use of torque converter is a serious issue on track because it overheats and inherently comes with lower redline = I have to upshift before 130R vs. Revving out to 7600 rpm and hold the same gear on F82 for example.
I can't believe they are planning to slap this transmission on every M car..
Depends on how ATF is cooled.
Don't love the design of the z4, especially the front. However, it's still on top of the list of cars that I want as it is light and has a great engine for mods, while still being somehow affordable. Upgradeturbo and downpipes plus software and this thing makes 550hp easily, that's AMG GT C numbers!
Any love for the 20i/30i engines?

What is the gearbox like in the new m135i? I dont think its a ZF gearbox in that.

You guys should look into developing a carbon fiber hardtop roof like the S2000 has that's if you guys can even do that.

Haha ie had access to some great cars out here but the roads are very boring and not in good shape. I thought UK roads were bad.
There is only one beautiful driving road on the north shore right next to Lake Michigan but that’s it. UK roads are like Silverstone compared to ours 😂

No, we sold this when the Supra arrived.
I’ve heavily modified my Z4 M40i using parts that are marketed for the Supra. Downpipe, various intakes (the Eventuri isn’t fitted yet) hoses, springs, alignment settings, wheels etc

How is it different type of customers from Boxster. Can you explain that? Because I am weigh up to buy one of them.
I believe the Boxster is a much more accomplished car but probably is not as much fun. Its almost too good if you know what I mean. Also for equivalent performance I would expect the Boxster is more expensive.
@@EvolveAutomotive BMW more for touring, highways and driver comfort with more amenities. Boxster more for the bendy roads and the track.
What do you mean the discs aren't vented? Don't they have internal veins for cooling between the two parts of a disc? It seems so weird to me they wouldn't do that on such a high performance car.

This is a temporary car for us so we won't be doing that. Will be going all out on the Supra though. :-)
@@thesunofodin i guessed it was that. I know them just as PPF(petrol part fil).
I've already seen cars with blocked up ones and warning lights(work for merc now not beemer anymore). So gone are the days of telling customers to swap to petrol because of their journeys. Wanky emissions making cars have more problems

Not sure on the looks Looks a bit Mercedes like and a bit soft compared to previous gens. Also the slushbox looks slow
The previous gen Z4 was the worst so far. Soft in looks and performance. Have you tried the new ZF 8 speed? Its shift speed is very fast.
