    As a new gun owner I appreciate the break down and explanation of each piece. This is my first gun. As a single mom I needed something I could afford, be comfortable with the size for concealed carry and have decent accuracy. I look forward to following this channel and learning more!

    When I clean my gun I use a magnetic parts tray that you can get at most auto parts stores or Harbor Freight. Keeps the small take-down pin from rolling off my bench and getting lost.

    Nice review. I bought that gun when they first came out. I originally went in to buy the S&W SV9, and the gun store owner said, "hey check this out; we just got these in. It's the new Ruger Security 9". When he handed it to me I liked it right away. The weight felt good and the grip fit my hand perfectly. The trigger pull felt better than the S&W, and the reset was shorter too. When he told me it was $289.00 there was no way I was leaving the store without it. I ended up buying the Ruger and the S&W that same day. When I got home and took them out in the back yard, I found myself spending more ammo with the Ruger. That gun was smooth and accurate right out of the box with no problems what so ever. In fact, I almost walked off and left the S&W laying on the table.
    Don't get me wrong, I do like the S&W, but I was really impressed with the Ruger Security 9. Later that evening when I took it down I was surprised to see how well made it was. I wasn't expecting that kind of quality in such a low priced pistol. The machining was flawless with no flashing or rough spots, and it has full length slide rails. I liked the cocking serrations on front and rear of the slide, but I did find that the slide release was really stiff and hard to operate using just my thumb. Ruger says it was intentionally made that way and will get better with normal use. The gun is good for carry too because nothing sticks out to get hung on things. I highly recommend this gun to anyone who's looking for a quality American made accurate 9mm. You can't go wrong with the Ruger Security 9.

    My first pistol and I love it. It’s just a solid general all purpose pistol. Especially for newbie like me. Take good care of it like you would any other piece of machinery. It’s quality for a reasonable price.

    At first I thought the trigger was ok, but after about 500 rounds the trigger is fantastic. I guess it just needed a little break-in. I'm really loving this gun. So far no issues.

    I purchased the Ruger Security 9 eight months ago, Feb 2021. It has performed flawlessly as several clips of ammo passed through in the following months. Skunks, coyotes, and other critters who thought my livestock was their dinner found they were mistaken. I loved the pistol so much I purchased a second one. Bullets would not feed into the chamber. With the two clips that came with the gun and the three I already had I tried five clips to see if it was a problem. Not a single bullet would feed up into the chamber as they were caught half in half out.
    I called Ruger and they gave me a return number and said send it back. I took it over to the firearms dealer I purchased it from and they sent it in. It was returned three days ago, 9/17/21. Pulling the clip from the Ruger on my hip I tried loading it. Same problem, bullets hanging before they go up into the barrel. Different clip, same thing. I let the girls behind the counter try. Was wishing I hadn't the way they handle loaded guns. Thank God that gun never loaded. They never got a bullet to go up into the barrel. I told them to send it in. She called me this morning 9/20/21 and Ruger said they were not accepting the gun back again. I must be using the wrong ammo. Let's see, my first Ruger Security 9 eats anything I put in the clip, Federal, Remington, Winchester, etc. etc. Trust me I have it all and it is all brass.
    Sadly, Ruger lost a customer. I told the dealer I was not taking that gun home. My life, the life of my livestock, depends on what I carry in my purse or on my hip. I will not own a gun that won't chamber bullets. I had to pull my gun on a man who broke into my shop and the conversation went like this as my gun left its holster and pointed at him. At the same time I turned my phone on and pushed the one button call for the sheriff.
    "You going to shoot me?"
    "If you take one step closer to me and I'll put you down. They will carry you out of here in a body bag. That green dot over your heart is where the bullet is going."
    He believed me and he stopped. Twenty minutes later the deputies showed up. I live in the country and 911 is not going to save me. My cousin, sheriff, drawing a chalk outline around my body doesn't give me any comfort. A Ruger that won't chamber a bullet is not going into my purse nor on my hip. I'm sure the next bad person would understand as I told them to wait while I played with getting a bullet into the gun.
    If you purchase a Ruger, make damn sure it works before you need it. If it doesn't work you purchased a paperweight. I'll sell you rocks for a whole lot less and give you a guarantee with each one. It works or your money back.
    Ruger will NEVER sell me another gun even though I love the first Ruger Security 9 I purchased. I don't buy guns to hang on the wall.
    Hugs People
    always

    For takedown, you can also pop out the retaining pin with a ballpoint pen on the opposite side. I also had some feed and slide problem on mine, but I sat down and racked the side a couple of hundred times and the problem went away. The slide release and the safety loosen up after a little use.

    I had many issues with mine. Out of around 500 rounds I had about 5 stovepipe/feeding issues. I’ve since upgraded to CZ P-07

    • @wigon
      @wigon 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's actually not terrible in terms of malfunctions. Granted a CZ P-07 is a vastly better pistol (and way more expensive). If you still have the C9, you might try narrowing down what's causing the malfunctions. Many pistols do that just with ammo they don't like the gun may prefer certain brands and/or types of ammo. The problem could also be narrowed down to one particular magazine. I would never condemn a gun for that number of firearms when the issue is probably something easily fixed.

    • @jfweimar
      @jfweimar ปีที่แล้ว

      I had similar feeding issues on different mags. I've only fired ~ 300 rounds. I decided to oil the tip of the barrel where it's feed and did not encounter anymore feeding issues.
      This was my introduction to a semi-auto pistol. After A thorough review, a well designed gun and I prefer the hammer fire. This experience has led me to find a 'very' reliable 9mm hammer fire pistol which ended up purchasing the Beretta M9A4 for range & home defense. An excellent & accurate shooter! I've since learned why everyone talks about the trigger which this Beretta has a very nice one. The additional weight is of no concern and also contributes to accuracy.
      On topic, the Security-9 is a great design & good gun! I recommend for new gun owners starting out.

      Ok Outlaw GT- What do you honestly expect, at that price point of under 300 bucks? Its really not fair to compare this to the Glock, which cost alot more, closer to the 550 to 600 buck price range.! Of Course you pay more for the Glock You should expect better finish, and get it. it"s like comparing a Mercedes Benz , to a Volkswagen.
