    I had the full size.... was great. A friend has it now and loves it. I went back and got the compact for carry. Works much better for me. I painted the sights which helped. LOVE the grip pitch.... same as 1911. Three years now..... no problem.

    Have fired at least 1000 rounds so far - not a single malfunction. Never used any steel or aluminum cases, but about 1/3 have been reloads & about 20 have been hollow points I would carry. Well worth it. Order extra Mags - Mags also work with Security 9 Compact. I like the safety - practice using it. For the cost & reliability, it is VERY well worth it

    That is the most hypnotic firearm I have ever purchased. I saw it at academy and my eyes kept going back to it. I went back to get it and it was gone. I went to another academy and they didn’t have it I went then to SHOOT POINT BLANK AND FOUND IT. I WENT BACK AND GOT THE COMPACT VERSION! I love them. When they came out with the Max 9 I went to look and couldn’t do it because of value now they have the 380 max and the same is in order. These are the only Ruger firearms that draw my attention.

    I’m relatively new to shooting and this is my first firearm ever. I absolutely love it. I did a lot of research before I made the purchase. Both professional and consumer reviews have both given this firearm very solid reviews. It is what it is. A good solid general purpose pistol for home and self-defense.

    Great honest review.
    It is a simple, no frills firearm that will do the job. I have never had any malfunction with my security 9.
    The safety does not bother me, I just do not use it.
    In my opinion it is a reliable firearm for home security or self defense.
    Keep doing what you do, we all appreciate you brother.

    I have the compact version. I like it! The only challenge I notice is that if I don't pull the slide back with enough gusto, it can hesitate to slingshot back forward after a magazine change. It got stuck. However I find it is a great value.
    Also it works perfectly with a 15 round mag, with spacer.

    • @DougMcDave
      @DougMcDave 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Bob Charles I tried another thing; went back to the instruction book. I rocked and wiggled the slide back and forth, and pushed and wiggled the takedown pin with my thumb. It may have gone in a little further to ensure that pin was fully, FULLY seated.
      Just because it seemed to stop before, it may have caught on something.

      Common issue. I decided long ago that the only ammunition I use in any of my equipment is brass. For the high dollar high end defense carry ammunition, it's always Nickle plated brass.

    Nice review, thanks for your time and effort... Agree about the steel case ammo. Not what I would use in an EDC gun. Mags for it are available in my area and I always buy 2x the number I would carry as back up. As far as the safety goes, leave is off if you don't like a safety on an EDC...

    My ruger will not shoot a full mag of steel. I’ve spent a lot of range time trying to pry out a steel casing that expanded in my chamber. Other than that, my only issue with it is the aftermarket on these really suck. No issues with regular brass after 1000 rnds
    This still remains my edc.
    Got a quality kidex holster from guerrilla tactical. Highly recommend them, fully customizable with any light available rn.

    For ALL the videos that bag on the safety on this... there are 2 options. 1. DON'T USE IT!! It's optional for a reason! Ruger is putting it on to sell to a wider market. 2. IF you don't want the safety, BUY the PRO version. Comes with no safety, problem solved. Echo sentiments for the S9 compact version also.

    I have an original 2018 Security 9 with, so far, around 2000 flawless rounds. Sometimes I use it for home defense. I got a new job so I've been taking it to work, though I have to leave it in my car safe. It's still slightly difficult to put the weapon back on safe, but that's just a tiny annoyance. It's not my primary carry, but it's an all around workhorse. Gr8 vid as usual. 🔫 🇺🇸

    • @markedman3990
      @markedman3990 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      A lot of time recoil video can be misleading. Most of the time if u watch a female shoot in slow-motion, there will appear to be more recoil. If u watch Sootch00, Hickok45 they will seem less affected by recoil. A very firm grip, and a good foundation will eliminate a lot of recoil. When I first started shooting...i let recoil bully me a bit, but now I'm better at creating a good foundation.

    I think the locks are required by law since alot of people don't have a gun safe. I have tons of those locks that never get used. I have always had kids in the house so if a gun isn't on me, it's in the safe.
    Steel cased ammo is bad for guns! AK's love it but they were designed to shoot it.
    I don't use the safety on the security nine. I do on my 1911. 1911's have hair triggers! Train with all of your guns so you are well practiced with disengaging the safety if it has one.

It is like the designers at Ruger live in Minecraft and think brix/brick shapes are sexy! It is as if sleek sexy lines and curves cut into profit margin! I'm with you, I don't intend on ever owning anything with a safety and magazine disconnect. Reason being is I've heard stories from a instructor that told a story about a woman who's fumbling to get her gun and ended up in a struggle and the assailant managed to hit the magazine eject rendering the gun useless whereas without that feature she could've still shot the attacker and likely retreated or regained control of the situation with the cards in her favor 🤷
    Sorry Ruger pretty sure you've missed the mark here : (
