Ok ok... did the thumbnail get you? haha
Obviously I don't think The Warning are Terrible.... obviously not! I also lost a bet with a friend of the channel so I had to post that thumbnail... sigh.
Follow along as I break down and show you about the song structure and the gear that The Warning uses in this video. We're going to talk about construction of the song and some of the performance techniques they are using. Should be a great time.

I knew of this group in passing, hearing Money, S!ck, and More on Octane over the last year. One night i stumbled onto a reaction video of Evolve at the VMAs and immediately dove head first down the rabbit hole. Some 20-30 videos in one binge session. I found that they have a real charismatic charm to them, especially watching their earliest videos and instagram live episodes. They pull you into their lives like a new friend would, and make you feel welcome.
    Thats their real superpower.

I honestly think that’s a huge part of their appeal. The world is full of bands that are musically proficient, but only a very small percentage of them can really connect with their audience the way these ladies do. That sense of “being part of the family” is what separates The Warning from their peers. I hope they never lose that.

I discovered The Warning two years ago. I've gone back through their entire very extensive catalogue on TH-cam, watching their development since they were children. In the past two or three years especially Dany's vocals have developed incredibly -- she's obviously worked super hard to push her voice to a new level. I now regard her as one of the best rock vocalists I've heard in the past 50 years. I've been to see them live twice this year and will be seeing them for a third time next April. I've not been this invested in a new band in thirty years or more.

I think every fan of The Warning was surprised to hear Dany go so high up & of course loved it! And The Warning are already having an influence as role models - I've seen several young bands doing covers of their songs, often the bands are all female or nearly so, and the reach is worldwide from Indonesia to Spain!

Ale's tone in this clip is monstrous. I love it. She plays a custom Spector NS5-XL that she spec'ed out herself. Ale went to 5-string because they use alternate tunings A LOT and she has to retune a lot less with a 5-string. And then of course they have "Automatic Sun" where's she's got the lowest string down to A to match Dany's baritone guitar ...

It is funny that you mention them as role models, because that has already happened, and it is a good story. Several years back a young metalhead girl by the name of Quinn was looking for a role model and couldn't find one because all the bands she listened to were hairy tattoo covered guys. Then she saw The Warning at a show, she found her role models who were just a few years older than her, went home, bought herself a guitar and taught herself all the songs on Queen of the Murder Scene, The Warning's 2nd album (Quinn was already a musician, classical piano). She has met The Warning at a fan/patreon event and had then sign that guitar. Quinn, now 17, is in a band Freeze The Fall, THRONES (debut EP) just came out. Quinn and FTF have done a bunch of The Warning covers that are really good and The Warning Army offers them a bit of support. If you haven't on your live stream or reaction channel. Each of the sisters did a video for *"Gear Masters"* during their early 2023 touring for their *More* single.
Also during 2020's lockdowns. Dany, Pau & Ale put out video's on their gear at the time. Ale's was short but she upgraded everything. Dany's video was about an hour long. She was doing both English & Español. And messing with Pau who was holding Petunia (their video camera). Like Ale's video. Dany upgraded everything.
But *Pau's video* from 2020 (on The Warning Channel) was taken after Pau updated her equipment she was going to use on their 2020 North American Tour (which was canceled twice) but used her equipment in 2022.
All 3 *Gear Masters* & *Pau's 2020 Gear Video* are well worth a reaction. As a non musician myself. I found these videos very fascinating. So when I watch a Pau Cam video (long form or short) past 2020. I look to see when Pau steps on the pedal that turns on or the pedal that turns off her laptop.
Check it out. You'll love it.

Maybe not my favorite song but imho one of their best performances is Survive. Pau takes the lead on vocals and channels Ronnie Spector but the real fun starts in the interlude after the third chorus. Pau takes us to school with a relentless beat, Ale adds some chunky bass into the groove and it just sweeps everyone up into a trancelike beat. Then there is Dany, bunny hopping all over the stage and depending on the venue , into the orchestra pit and once even into the mosh pit! I wouldn't be surprised to see her crowd surfing in a future gig! She finishes back on stage jamming so fast her pick hand literally becomes a blur before she and Pau blow up the crescendo, leaving Ale to to bring all back down to the ground. Absolutely banging good time!

I agree. Dany has used some falsetto in a couple of songs but we’ve yet truly heard her do extended belts in full head voice.
She’s still more comfortable in her mixed voice and has pushed that up fairly high.
Geoff Tate, in his prime always claimed he used mixed voice as well.
I’ve only ever seen Dany called a mezzo soprano so it should be interesting to see where her range actually ends up when her voice completely matures.

Have to agree that we love the discussion. We want to learn something new, pause and talk away, there's always a rewind button! I really like the discussion of the purpose of the backing tracks/stems. If you watch Pau's kit on live performances, you can see her laptop beside the snare where she controls all the clicks/backing tracks. Sometimes you can even catch her setting off a song (or a section of the song) with a midi-pedal. Dany has done a couple videos explaining the pedal board, a recent one on GearMasters, and an older 60min long live from her basement where she went through all of the effects/timings and how it's setup.
If you're looking for recommendations, I'd have to go with:
From the newest album: Consume or Sharks, at Camp and Furnace, there's a 4K version.
From the last album: Animosity or Amour, at Teatro.
also, if you need more volume for The Warning (as we all do) go into the youtube settings and turn off Stable Audio.

Regarding the GEAR used by the Warning, perhaps you could check out and react to the episodes in the Gear Masters series, on TH-cam. Each clip is about 8 minutes long. The full title of the first one is: The Warning's Daniela Villarreal Vélez - GEAR MASTERS Ep. 471
There is one each for Ale and Pau. These clips are 9 months old but still seem to describe the gear the ladies still have.
I think your The Warning fans would like your feedback/explanations as you react to these episodes. You also get glimpses of the ladies' personalities.

Just to clarify what's going on with their MIDI backing track: yes, there is a laptop computer beside the drummer. It's mainly for a click track to keep the entire band synchronized, although it's mostly used by the bass and drum players. The only backing track vocals in this song are a background chorus of "oh-oh-oh-oh". I don't know why they do that, because usually in this song both the bass and drum players are available to sing such a background chorus, and there are many other songs where they sing exactly like that without the backing track vocals. I personally don't think that the backing track vocals are necessary.

Don't agonize about choosing the next TW tunes. They all take you around the circle no matter what order you see them in. And live is what they do best. The concert in 2022 from Teatro Metropolitan is the best (so far) collection of their tunes in a live setting in terms of production quality. This will probably change soon as there are at least two concert vids from a month or so ago that haven't been full released yet (Pol'and'Rock and Wacken Open Air 2024) with next level content from their most recent album. Welcome to the rabbit hole!

It is so refreshing to occasionally have a group like this or Greta Van Fleet bring out new awesome rock music. However, with the young american generation that is so accustomed to manufactured POP music, it limits these types of bands from extreme popularity like the Pop Artists. Pop music, the computer nonsense, computer drum tracks, trap beats, same chord patterns and a generation that isn't impressed with real musicians will never back this awesome type of music. Still, these groups are doing well gaining traction from the minority of people that appreciate true talent.

There's a vid out about Pau and her setup. She uses a laptop for some backing tracks, just like you said, and there's no effort to hide that fact. They have had gigs where the laptop wasn't functioning properly, and they are just fine without it. Dany does use a Kemper floor, and it has captures of the amps she used in the studio, which makes sense of course. They really are special in so many ways, and they have thousands of Tias and Tios that agree with me.
