    These guides are a treasure for a very underrated sim in the community. And for the underrated part I guess because not everybody has a decent PC to run on this masterpiece :)

    Little note: When adjusting your fuel intake in the ICM the the writing will be red if your current selection will not get you to the end of the race. If you keep adding liters it will then turn to white lettering once you added enough fuel to get you to the end of the race. For very long races it might stay red as even a full tank of fuel won't get you to the end and you'll have to stop an extra time. The game predicts how much fuel you'll need by taking the average per lap consumption you've been getting. So add extra if you've been taking it easy or are driving in the wet on a drying track as your consumption will by higher once you can push on a dry track.
    ( Not taking any credit for this, learned it myself from watching a Yorkie endurance race ;))

    It's really good to see you making videos again. I personally think the ICM menu is one of the best additions in the game because I can fiddle with so many things out on track and it's also very well laid out so it doesn't take up much of the screen at all. I couldn't assign all these options in the first game because my controller only has a limited number of buttons to assign all those options to so the menu helps a lot. The only thing I don't like about it is that it disappears after 5 seconds like you said. It's hard to keep the menu open especially on a controller when you're going through a series of 3 or corners so it would be a great help if there was just an option in the settings to stop it going away by itself so you can rather dismiss it yourself when you want to.

    I'd like to have an option to hide ICM manually instead of that 5 seconds autohide feature. On some tracks there is not so many straits to mess with settings.

    Speaking about ABS and Traction Control in the ICM Menu. It seems to be not possible to change the settings fastly. When I want to set the TC from 0,09 to 0,70 I have to hit the UP button 61 times, because holding it down is not recognized.
    This can take a lot of time and concentration away from the actual racing. Or is there a better way to change this? thanks for the video :)

    • @Leynad778
      @Leynad778 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can do that in the car-setup. It's a bit hidden below the gear-ratio.

    • @tomjuggles
      @tomjuggles 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, in this car-setup menu you can hold the up/down button to change TC/ABC more quickly.
      But it's still not possible to change this quickly in the ICM menu on the fly while driving :/ If the rain starts and you want to change it while driving it's necessary to hit the up button like 61 times separately in the ICM menu.

      Totally, agree.. How Am I supposed to know what's the right pressure in bar??

    • @aeidolone
      @aeidolone 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Chuck Nowakowski Ok, theoretically it's not a bug, but when it's so stupid designed than it can be treated like a bug for me. It SHOULD all be presented as only bar OR only psi, OR for the best solution let us toggle it in the options like we want it, and not like letting it be on some screens psi and on the other bar. Stupid af.

    • @aeidolone
      @aeidolone 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      mattozzy games Those are two different units.
      Bar is the atmospheric pressure at the sea level.
      Psi is 1 pound of force per square inch.
      1 Bar = 14.5037738 Psi
      Why don't just stick for one unit, so we don't need to convert it every time?

    I found that after I had pitted and changed tyres (softs to softs) my rear tyres where at 31psi and my front tyres at 24psi but in the pit stop strategy fronts were set to 1.39 bar and rear 1.36 psi I tryed this 3 times and same result on tyre pressures rear was always higher than fronts

    Try to adjust a strategy while driving Indycar (much faster car than you use) and see how successful your race are.

    I know I'm a bit late to comment and hope this gets answered but when switching to AI driver in long endurance races, will the driver pit on his own or do you have to request a stop?

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The AI driver should make pit stops by themselves when they need to, i.e. to refuel, change tyres or repair damage. You can of course call them in earlier as well if you want to use your own strategy rather than leaving it down to them.

  • @milesfarber

    I know this is an incredibly old video but every time i assign a new strategy, when i start the race it reverts back to default, and when i go to the ICM and reassign my strategy FOR SOME REASON i cannot change tyres. I tried literally everything.

  • @testparadiz

    Their should be more than 1 default strategy, and startegies should be not so "car dependent"
    fuel => laps instead of Liters
    tyre pressure => percentage (+/-) from current setup

    • @pekkasalminen9601
      @pekkasalminen9601 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fuel consumption varies all the time, so it would be extremely misleading if it would be presented in laps. The current system is as good as it gets: Refuel amount is shown in liters and the estimation of remaining laps in brackets. Unfortunately the remaining laps are not shown in console versions currently.
      And personally I think that changing tyre pressures in percentages would be unnecessary and difficult. For example, I want to reduce pressure by 0,05 Bar. My current pressures are 1,90. It is much easier to reduce 0,05 bar from options than figure out how many percentages 0,05 is from 1,90.

    • @testparadiz
      @testparadiz 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fuel consumption varies all the time => thats' why it should not be a fixed value, why save a pit strategy if you have to change it every time
      changing tyre pressures in percentages => that's right, it should be +/- psi or Bar, but still not a fixed value

    • @pekkasalminen9601
      @pekkasalminen9601 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      But how the game could figure out how many laps you will get with certain amount of fuel in the next stint, as the fuel consumption varies between stints? If I want to refuel for 15 laps for the next stint, the game could figure out what is my average consumption and calculate the needed fuel for the next stint (15 laps). But what if the consumption would rise in the second stint (Can happen when weather changes from rain to dry), so the amount of fuel is not enough after all and I only get 14 laps? So you have to increase the refill to at least 16 laps instead. Or 17. Or more, but how much? So there is not much point to change, you would have to change the strategy anyways. And it is much more practical and accurate with liters.
      And in a longer races, the estimations would be all over the place anyways, especially if weather changes happens. The game cannot see into the future; how much fuel you will need for the next stint. They are rough estimations at best, and therefore best used only as rough reference how much fuel you should add.

    • @testparadiz
      @testparadiz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me the issue is to save global strategies for one car, yes things change, you should be able to save global relative strategies, and in car changes may be absolute, that's not incompatible, I just want to point that you can save startegies, but this strategy will be totally useless for another car. In this video he named his strategy with tyre compounds, fuel strategy and repair strategy, but he should add car name (or class sometimes)

    • @Leynad778
      @Leynad778 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There should be an option to choose the setup-tyre-pressure as default to use it more universal. The rest is not that important for me.

    Thnx for the tutorials. I’m playing PC2 for a couple of days now and i love it. But i struggle a lot with the setups. Is it normal for players to set the abs and tc on authentic? Keep up the good work! Subbed and going through your tutorials richt now!

    • @Yorkie065

      Yup, totally normal for people to run authentic assists as that way you get the more sim like experience, and it is what I use. I'd focus on the driving rather than the setups for now and work your way through the series. The episodes on setups will help, but don't fully rely on them and focus on driving technique.

    Why do you have to choose how much fuel to fill instead of to to what level to fill the fuel tank? When im racing i wanna have a strat that fills up the fuel tank so i can drive for 10 laps for example. When im pushing before the stop i will use more fuel and require less to fill the tank up to the same level as if i was saving fuel before the stop...
    Complete the opposite thing with tyre pressure, why have the explicit pressure instead of the delta pressure you put in/ take out of the tyres?

    • @Yorkie065
      @Yorkie065  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was something that was discussed in development, and generally most people find the calculation of working out how much fuel to 'add' in a pitstop is easier, as you work out how much fuel you need for the entire race which is a fixed value, rather than how much you need in a pit stop which could be changing with each lap. It is generally a lot less error prone but of course, everyone has their own way of calculating things. This was just the majority vote.
      Reason for having the explicit tyre pressure is it is again a more think about once and forget kind of thing. Once you know what pressure you need, you just hit that in before going into the race. There is no way to adjust the pressures whilst in a race, so adjusting by +/- X amount isn't possible, and if it was, it would require constant monitoring of tyre pressures as they can vary an awful lot.

    • @Hugo-pj4bm
      @Hugo-pj4bm 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hmm, okay. I always plan stints: I only want 15 laps of fuel when my tyres last for about 15 laps. I find that way easier than having to consider how much fuel i have left. A solution would maybe be having a switch to choose between fill tank by x liters and fill tank till x liters.

    Which would give us the chance for changeable realistic conditions.
    Snow racing is fun.....but for the most part not that realistic. ;)

    Anybody notice calling for a pit stop is broken? I have a button set up for it on one of my DSD button boxes.
    Sometimes I push the button and I get a response from the Pit. Other times I can call for it and I get no response.
    Sometimes I can call for it, get no response. Then go into the ICM and call for it and it works.
    Sometimes I call for it, get no response. Go into the ICM and see the option to cancel pitstop.
    Sometimes I’ll call for it by pushing the button, get no response. Then go into the ICM and it still won’t let me call for it.
    The other day, I called for it with the button box. Got no response. Went into the ICM and tried calling for it.
    That didn’t work so I decided I’d just drive into the pit and sure enough there was my crew waiting to service my car.
    I tried this a couple times when I’d get no response from the Pit and it was totally random if the crew would be waiting for me.
    I have two DSD button boxes attached to my CSW V2. Plus all the buttons on my wheel and a keyboard. I’ve tried mapping Pit Stop Request to a bunch of different buttons but I get the same results every time.
    This happens during practice and the race. Is it broken or am I missing some kind of rule here? Like Pits closed rule. If that were the case. Wouldn’t I get a call back from the pits saying the pits are closed?
    The fact that the crew can be out there waiting for me when I never received permission to pit makes me think it’s broken. When it works I get acknowledged and the pit board on screen. So.....

      OhItsThat It's a bug along with trilion others in this game

      It is a bug. The reason why you always see the pitcrew there is because if you don't 'Request a pitstop', they will react to you coming into the pits. If you do request for the pitstop, they will come out to the pit box in preparation. If not, they react to you coming in and if you have a very short pit entry and you're one of the first pit boxes on the track, they may not be set up ready in time for when you stop, making your pit stop potentially longer, or you may miss your pit box entirely if you don't have the visual cue for it turned on.

      Yorkie065 don’t forget there is also an option that allows for mistakes by the pit team. This may also include that once I requested a stop and they replied that they didn’t receive my message and could I resend. This may be something separate.

      Yorkie065 I figured as much. No big deal as long as it gets fixed which I’m sure it will.
      Any chance you think they’ll give us the option to map Fuel mixture, TC and ABS to buttons?
      The ICM is a great idea but a bit to much to handle while racing. Sometimes things like TC or ABS need to be adjusted quickly in the heat of the moment from corner to corner and it just can’t be done like that in the ICM.
      We can already adjust B bias and roll bars, why not the others? ABS and TC cars are most popular and benefit the most from having those adjustment at your finger tips.
      It would also be nice to see an in car boost adjustment for cars that have it.
      All in all pCars 2 is very close to being the best in its genre. A “real simulator” with single player elements that actually make it enjoyable to drive by yourself.
      I love iRacing, RF2 and Raceroom. But they just don’t offer anything near what pCars 2 offers which is a solid experience across the board in all areas.
      If all the little bugs get worked out and they add things like more bindable in car adjustments and the ability for the player to pick each Ai car to race against I’m thinking by this time next year pCars 2 will be hands down the best sim you can buy.

    Got it to work to a point, it never changes my tyres??? I have done everything right but the tyres just don't change. Something is so wrong with this game. Sick of the problems. We don't even get an apology

    The way pit strategy is USELESS:
    You dont know before a 1 hour race if you need to fix gearbox engine or aero....
    BUT you still have to set a side time to fix. And when you pit the game takes 700+ seconds to fix suspension engine gearbox even though you dont need to. And you loose the race!

      RobertLidstroem it takes 700+ seconds if you damage everything in the car

      You're using default strategy which means everytime you pit you will get a full repair of everything so it takes 700+
      If you want to simply fix the aero make a seperate strategy for aero fix and it will take roughly 15seconds.
