That's what my BMW dealership told me, the Z4 just didn't really sell much. I live in Utah, so they may be part of the problem. However, there are three or four Supras zooming around my neck of the woods so Toyota definitely made the platform popular.
Yeah I hardly see the new Z4. Honestly it’s a great car. Especially a used M40 since they cost wayyyy less then new. Supras hold better value and definitely sold in higher numbers
Bro did you wake up and choose violence?! You know the internet trolls and Toyota purists hate the MKV Supra. They’ll throw out wind buffeting even though some Porsche have wind buffeting (a $60 fix on the Supra), that it’s not even fast (same people who think the 2jz doesn’t require tens of thousands to make it fast) or that it will fall apart like BMWs of old (even though there are plenty of MKV owners with 60k+ miles even tuned and no issues thus far). All this while mainly never even driving it or giving it a fair chance. The most misunderstood car in automotive history.
Haha by now plenty of people love this car. The who ‘hate’ in it probably either can’t afford it or had no plans of buying it anyways. Those people basically want the exact 90s car the way it was. So they wouldn’t be happy regardless of what Toyota would have done

Yes, I agree! I think this is a fantastic car, and pretty much the Best at this price point. It being a BMW doesn't matter one bit, since because of that it's been super refined over the years. As always great video!
It really does get a lot of attention. True story: While at the gas station a month or so ago, an older woman (probably in her 80's) walks up to me and starts asking all kinds of questions about my 3.0 premium. She was genuinely interested in it. It was weird and kinda cute, lol. I'm used to kids and car guys gawking at it, but a woman old enough to be my grandmother?😂
@@tizodd6 The only hate I hear or read is on TH-cam and from internet trolls who even if it was a 3jz would complain that it’s too expensive wanting Toyota to be a non profit organization. Yes it’s a Z4 yes it’s a BMW. Life is too short. Enjoy what you drive.
i am so with you on this being one of the most fun cars to drive today. I had a camaro ss 1le 10SPA and test drove a supra 3.0 and that thing was snappy and way more nimble. Although I was going for a supra I ended up with a '23 m240i rwd just because the interior caught my eye over the supra. Same engine/trans but not as stiff as the supra. I also noticed the supra burbles more. Also, I got the m240 for 10k below what I would have paid for the supra so there is that too. Looks are subjective (I think the supra looks cooler from the back and side but I like my 240i front end more)
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Sounds crazy but I actually test drove the same Rc 350 f sport that you reviewed a while back. It was incognito grey at Lake Norman Lexus. I wish that car was a bit more peppy but yea your reviews are great man. Do you think you could do a comparison of the m240i with the rs3? I was thinking of cross shopping that or an m2 in the future
@@DweebTV Oh nice. Yeah I wish they made an in between from the 350 and the V8 offerings. If I have the availability of one! I did the M2 vs RS3. Those seem like direct competitors. I’ve driven the M240. It’s definitely a much softer car than both and not nearly as raw. So there will definitely be e a big difference as far as the performance feel between the 240 and rs3. If you like your 240 but want more power and performance. The M2 would be a great way to go! We do like the AWD on the RS3. It’s a little rocket!
I know a lot of people clown this car and call it a BMW but I really like it and almost bought it over a FL5. The only thing that is missing that would’ve sold me on it is a targa top option.
Nice attention to detail. I think most don’t even notice that the manual and auto GR Supra have a different “wall” on the center console. Also, are your red seat belts aftermarket?
Yeah the M4 Comp is a whole new level tho. Thats nearly a $100k car these days. But at $60k the Supra is still pretty affordable for most buyers. I'd love an M3 Comp at some point
@@kaiichinose9590 Yeah can’t go wrong! Supra is still the better true sportscar with its superior handling. Evenly I’ll end up buying the G87 M2 when I need more space.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I love the Supra and its power plant. But I will disagree with handling. The f87 the m2cs will outperform the Supra in handling. The Supra handling is def better when cornering in because of the wider front tire track.I def love the mk5 Supra in manual esp over the Nissan Z. I’m still torn on the g87 in the looks department. I will eventually get a manual Supra, but I can’t justify it over my current m2 with 660 whp. Maybe if I can ever come to terms but it’s a machine and a bit easier to live with and better visibility with way less road noise.
Yeah the last gen M2 Comp is a great car. More similar to the weight of the Supra and handles pretty similar. I drove one a few years ago and it felt a lot like my Supra did. New M2 can make some stupid power. Just might not be as agile
Does "back to stock" mean its going up for sale soon? 😉 I feel you though, my stock MT MKV is perfect out of the box and I've had no desire to do anything beyond minor aesthetic mods (and CDV delete!).
Maybe lol. Have some other things we've been working on. So I just wanted the car all stock so when I make a decision I can sell it if that's what I chose. But yeah I have no desire for more power out of it. So well balanced with the stock power!
In all honesty it's the best BMW sports car BMW has ever built. I bought my 2021 Supra the summer of 2020. You get the performance & luxury of BMW with the reliability of Toyota. My biggest complaint are the fake vents & taking her to the Toyota dealership for maintenance, it just doesn't feel special. With that said, it's brilliant what BMW & Toyota combined to do. With that said in 2024 I sold my 2021 Supra back to Toyota. To purchase a Corvette C6 Z06 that had 5k miles on it. Next level
@@hartsickdisciple The GR Supras have been very reliable for over 4 years. Consumer Reports magazine rates the Supra as having above average reliability.
Because Toyota helped with tuning and making sure the engine was up to their standards..but the B58 is also BMW's most reliable and most used engine as well, so it's already a reliable platform.
There is a car for everyone. I definitely think the Supra is a great car with a great engine. Makes top 5 in its price range. Since its engine is a BMW engine and moslty a BMW interior, I could easily be cross shopping with a luxury coupe. If a new Supra is around 58k to 62k then I may just go for an M2 or just wait for the CLE53 amg which I think looks much better than an M2 or a Supra. Nice thing is you can get a manual with a Supra. I wouldn't mind having a B58 Supra in my garage but wouldn't be a daily for sure.
I made a fun comparison with the M2 and Supra. th-cam.com/video/lfriLa3ZijY/w-d-xo.html Very different cars overall and each have their strengths. This is a pretty good price range for some really good choices! I'll probably get an M2 after the Supra when I need the extra practicality
I never am a Toyota fan, always been a Honda/Acura fan, and when I heard the Toyota Supra made a comeback I looked at it and asked “why is there no manual transmission?” I was immediately turned off by that fact. Years later Toyota announced a manual transmission model and I said “yay!” I heard a lot of Toyota loyal fans criticize and talk a lot of shit about the Supra. I’m excited that this is a sports car worth driving and owning. Honda/Acura is no longer cool especially now they only produce 4 door family sedans with turbo engines in them. Toyota Supra is now the latest hotness = fire!!!!
I’ve exclusively owned v8s but I’m considering breaking that mold here soon. I would have to get a street Hunter V2 Wing, a 6 speed and want at least full bolt ons and tune if I got a Supra. Sucks that manual isn’t offered until 2023, and that you have to unlock to tune the car. So I’m looking at what 75k+ easy just to get what I want on the car? These cars for sure aren’t for ballin on a budget like a 5.0 Whipple Mustang or ls3 Vette. I really like the Supra cause you don’t see very many of them but there seems to be a lot of downsides. It would be nice to have a sub 3500 lb car though.
This car definitely handles 10X better than the Mustang and Vette. SO it's a tru sportscar meant for the twisty turns. Tuning with a locked car will be about $3k. And then if you just do the catted downpipe and an intake you'll make a solid 75+ HP/TQ to the wheels over stock with tuning. Those parts cost about $1800. So for under $5k in mods you'll have everything you need for the power and sound to be honest. Well worth it
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Thanks for the info! I did watch your video where you put the catted down pipe on the car and it sounded really good! This is a totally different world for me as the last car I modded was on 03 Mustang Cobra. I like the idea of a lighter and more nimble car.
If we stay around 60k, I think an argument could be made for the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse. The Supra is excellent but to be honest there isn't much competition at that price point. That might be good or bad depending on how you look at it. Love the B58 and the ZF8 trans in my 2022 BMW M240i x-drive. The BMW M240i x-drive is of course a coupe, but that might be the Supra's real competition, as the M240i x-drive starts at a few thousand dollars below the Supra.
th-cam.com/video/_eUElCWl-Vg/w-d-xo.html Here's a vid we did with the Dark Horse, Nismo and Supra. New Mustang is a great car for sure! More about taste at that point. Lot of car for the money and a strong choice in this price range. M240 is a great car too especially with the practicality. But the Supra still just takes the win for handling. So nimble and you can tell it's purely a sportscar being a sportscar. The others do sacrifice some of the handling to be more practical . So just depends on what you need out of the car.
Love the look of the Supra, test drove an early Auto, before manuals were available, the ergo’s and visibility are very compromised for anyone tall. I ended up buying a 2020 M2 Comp Manual, I got a Demo with 6K kms (Canada) at $1K below dealer cost at the end of summer. Since then, the manual Supra, the Nissan Z, and the new M2 have been a consideration but I keep concluding that they all have compromises compared to the M2C, especially the fugly new M2! If you’re in this market, do yourself a favour and at least consider an M2C manual. If you find a reasonable deal you can probably buy it and drive for a long time and not loose much value!!! And it is a hoot to flog! I just drove mine daily for a full Canadian winter with a set of Michelin Alpines, what a blast!
You are absolutely right about this for tall people.. I'm 6'5 and test drove one, felt like I was in a coffin.. Hugely compromised visibility. Very uncomfortable.
If you like to blend in with the crowds, the M2 is the better alternative. I prefer uniqueness and light weight, so I chose the Supra. It draws lots of attention!
Great option too! However it’s slower in a line, around a track and doesn’t handle as well since it weighs more. But if you need practicality, that’s a great option!
This right here..luckily he's talking about 2 seats only but after I test drove the m240 I said duh why not, considering I see and everything lol.. and quicker off the dig
@@Barricade2008 That AWD does a lot! But from a roll and track tho, Supra is still faster. Either way both are really good cars just used for different purposes
@YungSlyR And the Supra destroys the 240i on Virginia Nationa Raceway as part of Car & Driver's annual Lightning Lap. Bottom line: If you want a car that draws lots of attention, does really well on the track, and will retain its value, the Supra 3.0 is a no-brainer. If you want more of a family car that is essentially invisible on the road, get the 240i.
The M2, M3, and M4 are rocket ships with those S58 motors. Definitely a sweet engine and a big upgrade. But the B58 is still plenty for the light weight Supra over the heavier M cars.
@@odinikita4821 Yeah it’s a solid motor with that. However I haven’t seen anything bad about the S58. As far as performance, it’s clearly the next step up. But the B58 is solid in performance too
Now, for some spirited driving, maybe a few track days, would you get this or a C8 with the Z51 package? Not the MT Supra though, auto. And why would you get one over the other?
C8 is a fun car too! But option for option costs about $25k more than a Supra. So honestly it's a different price range. Especially when you can buy a 3.0 Supra for $45k. So for the ones Supra still wins. And with a tune this car is faster than a Corvette.
@@davepaturno4290 Very true! Seen some issues with Corvettes. And I see them all the time! Only old people seem to drive them too lol. Supra appeals to every age group
@BrosFOURRSpeed Correct! I belong in the older crowd but go on many meetups and cars&coffee events. Honestly, I anxiously await any opportunity to drive my 2024 45th Supra, and I've driven many sports cars over the last 5 years. Great review about your Supra, by the way.👍
Gr86 is the best value 2dr sports car. It’s really not debatable. - affordable - rwd, good manual, NA - looks really good - best balance chassis. Only Porsche rivals competes - cheap consumables.. people don’t realize how expensive tires, brakes, oil changes, etc.. are when thinking bout cars. * yeah there are some few issues but no car is perfect, if you focus too much on imperfections, you loose sight of what makes something enjoyable.
Lol at all these “only Porsche can match its handling/chassis/balance” guys😂😂 Look at lap times for the 86, they are trash lol. Type R, Supra, S2000, Miata, Corvettes, GT350, I could go on forever about how many cars have handling better than an 86. And I’ve owned an 86. Great car but not what these clowns talk about in regards to only Porsche is better😂😂
@@19hundoc47 no shit Sherlock the lap times are shit. It’s only packing like 212hp to the wheels. If lap times at what you’re looking for, then the car is obviously not for you captain obvious. Stop mixing balance, chassis, and handling as they are the same thing.. yes they are related but they are distinct concepts. Handling is how well a car responds to driver inputs. A good chassis is rigid, low center of gravity, lightweight ,etc. balance is all bout the distribution of weight between front and rear axles. You want even weight distribution. Yes, I agree that not only Porsche is better but it just shows how amazing the car is especially for what it cost. you are mentioning cars that cost at least twice the price except for Miata and s2k.
Yeah the GR86 is a great car! The best entry level sportscar for sure. But this video is more about 2 seat sports cars and why the Supra is the perfect blend overall. It's not $100k like a Porsche, but it has true power and handling of the expensive cars without being out of reach for most. Can buy one of these for $45k on the used market. So pretty good value with serious power and performance.

@@19hundoc47 depends on the track. On smaller tracks, the GR86 can match or exceed cars roughly twice the price in lap times. Savageese’s channel had a modded GR86 beat a Nissan Z on their test track and almost beat a GR Supra. All 3 with a professional driver behind the wheel. Edit: I believe the Supra and Z were stock, while the GR86 had suspension and wheels, but still, stock power.
The best 2 seater under 100k is a Porsche Cayman regardless of the trim level. As someone who’s owned both, the Supra is nice but the cayman has a level of precision BMW won’t ever achieve. Also I think C8 corvette is a better value than the Supra if you don’t care about Manual transmission.
Yeah the Cayman is sweet. But the newest 718 is the one that competes with the Supra in performance. And that car is $100k. So the Supra at $60k I think is a better deal. My friend has a 2016 GTS with a manual and that's an awesome car! About $70k used. C8 is fun but with the same options it's about $85k brand new. So I still like a Supra better. But the C8 certainly has the exotic look
Nah, I'm taking the Z. Cheaper base price to get the 6-cylinder engine, more trim levels, no BMW worries, and far better-looking IMO. The Supra is a great performer by the numbers, but I just can't get over the looks and the fact that Toyota didn't build their own car. Both cars are plenty fast for public roads, but the Z has more of what I'm looking for. If I was looking for a bang for the buck streetable car to put up lap times, I probably wouldn't buy either of them. I'd go with a used C6 or C7 Vette. I think I'd take a prior generation M2 Competition over a Supra. If I'm buying a BMW, I at least want the badge and styling to go with it.
Z is a fun option. But the Z Performance is only about $6k less then a Supra Premium. I was planning to buy one. But I couldn't justify all of the things about the Z that aren't as good as the Supra. For $6k more, you get such a better car and most buyers judging buy the comments gladly spent the money on the Supra over the Z. Older M2 is a great choice too for less money
@@BrosFOURRSpeed I also noticed the seating on the Supra , can you adjust it so it retracts lower ,I didn't try that I also didn't try moving the bench part of the seat although I don't think I had much space anyway
If I sold my car I'd want about $63k. Looking at the market for manual MK5 Supras. Everything is above $60k new and used. So with low mileage that seems about right with the market
GT4 is certainly a better car. But new for new those cost over twice as much. Even used $100k is the low end. A more attainable car like the Supra is more along the lines of this videos point
@BrosFOURRSpeed what's sad is.. Nissan priced the Z out of this segment. This video literally should have been the z....but it cost more and is slower than supra...why would anyone outside a diehard chose z... .. however if the nismo comes manual that could be a different convo
I think GR86/BRZ are better. YES, they’re not the fastest but are incredibly fun to drive and affordable. The mk5 supra is still really cool but tbh I’d rather get different BMW product.

Thats a good way to go for sure. But given I'mm talking about a car currently on sale. To be fair you'd have to compare this to another brand new vehicle. The comparable Cayman brand new is a GTS since that has similar performance. GTS new costs $100k. So this car at $60k is a better buy. However my friend has a 2015 GTS Cayman and that was $70k. Yeah I'd take the used GTS too since it's a nice step up in refinement and handling. But the Supra is still faster and can make stupid power easy. So not really a competitive car since I'm talking about new cars in the current market.
Amazing car. But thats $100k and up. So my mind set with this video is that the Supra is the perfect blend because it's also affordable for most buyers. Can buy one of these for $45k
@@BrosFOURRSpeed true the supra is superior performance wise. I still feel the z has it beat on heritage and playfulness. Numbers wise the supra is a monster.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed The Z and Supra are definitely on "the same level." The Supra is just a bit quicker stock versus stock, which doesn't matter much on the street. It's all about fun and personal preference for a road car.
Great car too. But option for option thats about an $85k car to match the features of the Supra at $60k. Plus basic tuning in the Supra make it much faster than the Corvette stingray. So I was sticking with more of an affordable price point since the Supra ranges from $40k-$60k. Perfect blend of performance and price. Plus you don't have to where cargo shorts and New Balance shoes to own one ;) lol

@@BrosFOURRSpeed agree, but in terms of sales it’s literally doing horrible. And it’s no knock to the car because I do believe it is a very nice looking sports car but $60k for that car is wild. Because of what it is, I think $50k tops would’ve been just fine.
@@francysantos1916it’s not the price. Toyota has no control over production and production was cut. If anything it’s the dealer markups on top of msrp that make it ridiculous to buy. Toyota dealerships are insufferable with these cars. Same with Honda and the new type r. It’s not a Ferrari. 😡

@@19hundoc47 the 2024 45th anniversary Supra is 65k and the C8 is 68k. How is that comparison dumb? For 3k more the corvette is better than an end of life chasis from BMW in every single way.

Yeah a targa would be cool! I think the people who hate on it for being a BMW were seven going to buy one anyways. People just love to complain lol
Nice attention to detail. I think most don’t even notice that the manual and auto GR Supra have a different “wall” on the center console.
Also, are your red seat belts aftermarket?
Yeah it's neat to see that! Aftermarket from seatbelt planet. Fun mod! th-cam.com/video/8iur9rjLstY/w-d-xo.html
A car being born with that much controversy must be entertaining.
haha yeah! Controversy probably helps it be what it is!
Very good car, it is built in my hometown. And i want an GRMN
Oh very cool! Hopefully Toyota makes a high performance version of this! Would be sweet!
Supra is the best car on the roads day to day. A tune and an exhaust .. greatest daily ever.
Yeah these have so much to offer!
Best value for money sports coupe. Better looking than any car in its price range whether you get a 2.0 or 3.0
Yeah for sure! Great price spectrum for these!
Two seats you are right. But back seats I think m4 takes the cake with the s58
Yeah the M4 Comp is a whole new level tho. Thats nearly a $100k car these days. But at $60k the Supra is still pretty affordable for most buyers. I'd love an M3 Comp at some point
The f87 and g87 m2 have more rear seat head space and also are great choices in this same segment.
Next level
I'm not sure how you can claim to get the reliability of a Toyota when the car is mechanically and electrically a BMW.
@@hartsickdisciple The GR Supras have been very reliable for over 4 years. Consumer Reports magazine rates the Supra as having above average reliability.
Oh wow, big upgrade!
I made a fun comparison with the M2 and Supra. th-cam.com/video/lfriLa3ZijY/w-d-xo.html
Very different cars overall and each have their strengths.
The new Supra is a great car! Really can't go wrong with it at all!
Was the seat torn already on bottom driver seat?
That’s a leaf lol, I didn’t have any torn spots on the seats.
Hey what's happening it's has a six speed manual transmission 😊❤
Yeah the Supra has had a manual since the 2023 model year ;)
Beautiful and fun car for the money! They are SO SICK!!
For sure! Great blend of everything in these!
I'm thinking about getting a manual version 🤔
Nice! Very fun setup for sure!

One of the best looking cars today tbh.
For sure!
The looks just make up for any short coming. So Japanese and I love it
Yeah it's a great looking car!
Yea thats a good car. I like the lighter weight feeling of the old M2 vs the new one. But all offer quite a lot in todays market!
you are not looking for a dedicated sports car, you are looking for a sports sedan, comparing across categories makes no sense.
That's like wanting a Corvette, but buying a Cadillac CTV - both perform well, but only one is a true sportscar.
If you like to blend in with the crowds, the M2 is the better alternative. I prefer uniqueness and light weight, so I chose the Supra. It draws lots of attention!
M240i best bang for you buck same B58 as a supra but this has back seats and AWD :) why not get a AWD supra !

Wondering if you guys could comment on the all new 992.2.
I saw a few things about it. If it's only hybrid, I bet the 992 will go up in value and hold a higher price long term
On my dashboard it notifies me that my tailgate is open even though it’s closed and locked. Do you know how to get rid of that ?
Hmm that's odd for sure. Maybe the dealer can do an update on the cars electronics?
Is the s58 that much better than the b58. Is the supra engine not far behind the s58 ?
The M2, M3, and M4 are rocket ships with those S58 motors. Definitely a sweet engine and a big upgrade. But the B58 is still plenty for the light weight Supra over the heavier M cars.
@@BrosFOURRSpeedalso B58 is a closed deck and has had toyota input in relation to improving reliability.
@@odinikita4821 Yeah it’s a solid motor with that. However I haven’t seen anything bad about the S58. As far as performance, it’s clearly the next step up. But the B58 is solid in performance too

Nope. Would be nice for sure tho
Reliability and exclusivity? The Supra wins, easily.

- looks really good
- best balance chassis. Only Porsche rivals competes
- cheap consumables.. people don’t realize how expensive tires, brakes, oil changes, etc.. are when thinking bout cars.

A good chassis is rigid, low center of gravity, lightweight ,etc.
balance is all bout the distribution of weight between front and rear axles. You want even weight distribution.

There are plenty on the use market tho. Some good ones are around $45k even. Easy car to buy at some point for sure!
But the C8 certainly has the exotic look
nice car!
Thanks!
Older M2 is a great choice too for less money

i would love to own a mk5 supra but the price toyota is asking to to high
There are good used ones in the mid $40k range. These hold value pretty well so it's a pretty safe car to buy
Why get this instead of a used Cayman?
Thats a good way to go for sure. But given I'mm talking about a car currently on sale. To be fair you'd have to compare this to another brand new vehicle. The comparable Cayman brand new is a GTS since that has similar performance. GTS new costs $100k. So this car at $60k is a better buy. However my friend has a 2015 GTS Cayman and that was $70k. Yeah I'd take the used GTS too since it's a nice step up in refinement and handling. But the Supra is still faster and can make stupid power easy. So not really a competitive car since I'm talking about new cars in the current market.
GT4?
Amazing car. But thats $100k and up. So my mind set with this video is that the Supra is the perfect blend because it's also affordable for most buyers. Can buy one of these for $45k
