Those masters of the photocopier have done it again and launched another watch with zero originality but at a price that mere mortals can afford. I think there is generally a different attitude towards homages of older, rare models than of current catalogue stuff. A thicker caseback would help this one a lot, but it looks great, and you can spend the money you saved on that megayacht you've been dreaming of. Cheers, Jody

I bought a Pagani a couple of years ago nothing lined up on the clock face and the bezel was the same. The bracelet was as rubbish as the watch itself, cheap and nasty, lightweight and rattly. Sold it within a few days on-line and recovered half of my purchase price. Never again.
A homage of a watch that can't ever really be obtained is one that I can get behind.

In my case, that's all of 'em. I love Pagani Design, although I would stick to the ones with Seiko NH35 or Mecha-quartz movements. I've had some Paganis with the Seagull movement, some were reliable, some were not!
@@lundswedenpagani doesn’t use nor have they ever used seagull movements.
They did a reasonable job of homaging the original. I would definitely have preferred to see a more off white, or cream colour dial and female end links like the original though.

Also there are not too many chronographs that are under 42mm. Most Citizen and Sekio chronographs are huge at 44mm and up. The 40mm Pagani Daytona is great size and good price if you just want to try a chrono watch. I am happy with mine.

A surprising and welcome addition to Pagani Design's repertoire! Excellent and thorough review as always! Interesting that they chose a screw down crown and pushers as well as a ceramic bezel for this vintage-style chronograph. I quite agree that Pagani Design should upgrade their clasps. All things considered though, I'm extremely tempted at this price
Oh dear..... Quartz movement yuk..... Why not just go for the beautiful Alpha Daytona with the bullet proof seagull column wheel mechanical chronograph movement and you can even view this great engine through the case back..... All this for £130..... Insane value for money believe me I have 8 alpha chronographs of various designs with this seagull engine.... All excellent quality with a proper warranty.... All very reliable..... Go for the Alphas it's a no brainer isn't it guys..... Iam just waiting for my 9th to arrive.... The Alpha speedmaster!... Beyond excited... Just love watching the seagull ST 1903.... 20 jewel hand cranked movement in action through the exhibition case back..... 👍

I have 4 Pagaini's, two Daytonas - a Panda and a Rose gold , one Sub Mariner and one GMT Coke. All have been extremely reliable and and great looking watches. I get complemented all the time . Thank you for sharing your videos!
I have purchased a few Pagani's already incl. the Daytona homage, had my eye on this one but I couldn't get below $90, but thanks to you I get it now for $70.
I like the quality of these watches and a guy recently commented on the Daytona, he thought it was the original.
I have a Alpha Daytona in that style with the Seagull ST19 and it’s practically identical to a Daytona. I bought it 8 or 9 years ago and wore it as a daily for two-three years before the winding got squeaky. Nice watch.
I'll second this. I still have mine. Great watch... though the quality control is hit and miss.

Just received mine last night, and it has not left my wrist once. I was holding off getting one of these since I had 3 other versions already, but this is the best one I have out of those. Every watch enthusiast needs a Newman dial in their collection.
One difference I noticed with mine, however, is that it doesn’t have a boxed domed sapphire. Just a standard flat sapphire crystal like on every other version. Found that interesting.
Also Jody, I found a hack for those pesky blue stickers on the pushers. Use standard shipping tape, and it comes right off! Even in the tricky areas on the crown logo. Might safe you some time and frustration!

Great review, big surprise. Between the PD1701 Speedy (which I got on a whim and am surprised by how much I like & wear it) and this Daytona clomage, I'll have "saved" myself an absolute fortune. 😂 Chronographs really work for me powered by quartz bc it's the small subdials that tick rather than sweep most of time it's on wrist, and I can live with that. Pagani really delivers for the cost, punching well above it's weight.
Ordered it with a nice leather to put it on - removing the problems with the clasp and bracelet altogether.
For its price, its hard to beat.

I have had mine for around a week. A great looking watch and is a second fast after a week. Very happy with this and saphire glass too.
The only downsides are due to the fact that I need reading glasses and don't always have them with me.
The large "second hand" isn't. It is the chronograph hand. The second hand is the small dial at the six o'clock position.
Sometimes the panda scheme is good at hiding the hour and the minute hand when without my reading glasses.
I now think that I need a Tudor Homage with snowflake hands. If it is going to be Pagani I won't have to save too long.
I remember when I bought the PD-1644 original Daytona homage by Pagani Design just for 58 EUR at the time. Still isn't even one minute behind or forward, no joke. If you like the look, I highly suggest everyone buy it, it works wonders, plus the domed sapphire. Too good!
3:37 the internal micro adjustment is very easy to do, the visible hole adjustment is alot easier of course, but it is not difficult at all to adjust the internal style, the secret is having the correct tool which is a very small spring bar remover.
These Pagani Daytonas just rock. My panda on leather is very comfortable, light, and usable. I can grab it on any given day and know it’ll work and look great.
I wish they would print minute markers on the counter at 9, appart from that I quite like it. And the Meca-quartz is just very reliable, had several watches with it, no issues over the years.
Dental floss works for me quite nicely in adjusting my pagani design micro adjusts!
Some watches do feel tinny for some reason, this is true. I never thought of the caseback as being the culprit. Excellent review!
After Invicta got me started with my automatic Bond Rolex Submariner last year, I just ordered this Pagani on the last Anniversary Sale day with a coupon for WAY less! Newman actually had 3 of them, and at least one was already the Oyster case generation with the screwdown pusher water-protection, so this one is just fine for me. I cannot afford the 17.8 million, so I went for the poor man's 1.5 million dollar model and can still buy insurance for my (2003 Toyota Corolla) Aston Martin DB 007/100th
BTW: Goldfinger says hello, met him at a swap meet the other day, he is retired now and was selling Bulgarian imitation-gold watches!
Hi Jody, not sure if you'll see this comment, but: that Paul Newman Daytona is on view at the new Academy Museum in Los Angeles! The actual watch! It's in a small glass case in a room with tons of other stuff, and it's just on the corner of this large table exhibit - easy to miss and I think most people walk right by it. I hadn't seen any press that it would be there, so I was mighty surprised and happy to see the watch in person!
You know you're in the right spot since it's the only place in the entire museum where a guard is paid around the clock to sit on a stool about six feet away from an object. In fact the guard sitting down in the corner of the room was the strangest thing I noticed at first because I'd been around the whole museum and hadn't seen a seated guard. Then I saw the watch. And it all made sense.
Unfortunately they don't have it mounted in such a way that you can see Joanne's inscription on the back but it's still pretty amazing to see the legendary watch in person.
Really good job on this one, mine is in the mail and should be here any day now! Can't wait to get my hands on it for the review!

Another good video from Jody and the folks at Pagani. They give you a lot of watch for the price. I'm rocking my No Date Sub that I bought for $100. Taking into consideration that the real deal costs over 100 times the price. I am a hard no. But, I can have a little fun with something like this without paying the sky high price. I also know that I would not the grey market price, nor MSRP (not that I could get one). Sadly, a Rollie it out of my reach for good.
I just recently got the white dial version of the current Daytona from PD, and the bracelet on mine wasn't just rattly, it's even got a little squeak to it I don't like. I have it on a leather strap I had laying around, liking for a better stainless bracelet to put on it.

I'm still very happy with my Seiko SBTR027 with the identical (I think) 8T63 movement, but admittedly these Paganis are so much better specced in terms of the crystal, bezel, and bracelet. Would be fun to see you compare one of Seiko's first party affordable chronos with a Chinese special.
I will second this. I own the SBTR013 and the SBTR015 Spirit Chronographs they are hard to beat. Solid quality and very easy on the eyes. The price is very attractive for such a nice watch that has it's own personality instead of an blatant homage.

Hey Jody! Great review as always! I'm done with Pagani Design. Bought the Rose Gold GMT and it arrived DOA. PD Official Store refused to provide a partial and full refund. They did suggest to return the watch which would cost the same as the cost of the watch at my expense - Hard no! So they sent a new movement and now I have to spend $80 CDN to have a watch maker install it. This experience left a sour taste. Therefore, I'm done with Pagani Design 😭 Happy New Year Jody all the best in 2022 mate 🤙🏽
The problem with the simple 4 hole micro adjust is that it just isn't as clean, but the Pagani internal one, to your point, really is a pain. I would just recommend getting one of the Rolex style glidelock clasps off aliexpress for $25. It is a direct fit for this, and virtually any aliexpress screw link oyster style bracelet. I fit them to all my oyster bracelets because the quick adjust is extremely convenient, especially in changing seasons.
I'm tempted to pick one of these up and put it on their rivet bracelet. I think it would look incredible
This one is a looker! love my PD-1644 Daytona Homage; like this one, it offers incredible value, perfect size with supreme comfort, but, the silver hands disappear so easily. I like the black hands on this one, however, with the black sub-dials, it may present the same problem. Oh, and I love the Matrix shirt!

Great looking superb value. I bought a Daytona a year ago out of curiosity to review on my Instagram, 70 quid for sapphire glass, ceramic and great movement it turned out to be a great buy. I switched the tinny bracelet for a fabulous White rubber from Barton straps

It's not just Pagani that make watches with faux-tina and stark white dials. That's why Hemel's Airfoil is such a standout. (I like that Vario make both cream and white versions of the Trench - that's cool). I'm reasonably convinced this Pagani needs a rally strap - solves the endlink, the clasp and might dull the clattering noises.
Waiting on mine at the Mo..Jo! 🤪 Expecting it during the week! Value for money is hard to deny! Owning the “other” Daytona’s this looks to be the pick.👍🏻😎

Greetings, Does all the buttons on the right side function well and correctly ? I am scared to get a daytona because it is more complicated to mimic than a submariner.
I have two Pagani models…The no time to die James Bond Homage is my favorite….Nothing wrong with a good homage of a watch that you can’t get anyway!
Have one of the first series the Ceramic bezel feel off and I had to glue it back on, also every time you reset the stop watch it moves the minute had back a couple of minutes. Hopefully they have improved the quality

Its a great value, tasty watch. Hard to knock it at that price. The Hamilton looks great too, a different proposition though.
Mine Pagani Daytona (white on white dials) came with a nato strap, much better than the flimsy strap it came with...love the feel of this watch, a steal at $80.

As an owner of a Pagani Daytona I will absolutely get this one on the next Ali sale, thank God they left out the horrible 4 o'clock date. Too bad Pagani screwed up the Speedmaster homage, but at least the Corgeut is pretty good in that regard.

As an owner of several Pagani Design watches, I suggest taking the bracelet off and tossing it straight in an ultrasonic bath. They come absolutely filthy and gritty. Ultrasonic will make it wear like a charm.
I don't necessarily think it's a paul newman homage, rather it's an homage to modern Daytonas that have been customized to look similar to the real thing from the 70's.
If you want a watch with a closer look and feel, you should take a look at Alpha Daytona, it' s also ST19-powered. I have mine for more than a year and I love it

The kind of daily drivers I don't stress out much about accidentally damaging. That happens with watches costing thousands I'd be frustrated even by smaller blemishes.
It's definitely a nice-looking watch. They did a good job with the homage.
I'm wearing my Pagani Design watch right now. I have the Submariner homage. My only complaint about it is the clasp. Yeah, you weren't kidding about their QC. I haven't been able to get my divers' extension to work. It's a good watch otherwise, and an excellent value (with the solid links, end links, and sapphire crystal) but the clasp is a disappointment.
I found the diver extension INCREDIBLY stiff, but in time it has loosened up. Persevere!
Yeah, Pagani bracelets suck. I've their Speedmaster homage, and I can open the clasp by pushing on only one pusher, which is something that happens easy enough during use. Took that off, tossed the head on a Barton 20mm black leather strap and it became a whole new watch.
It amazes me that Pagani can do stuff like this(which I have no objection to) and Invicta still gets hate for being A Homage Watch!

Not bad. I have looked at their rainbow bezel Daytona before, but I can help but expect the "diamonds" will fall out.
Homages can be trashed and disdained, but the pragmatic reality is that sometimes a person wants the design at a decent quality and none of the brand' prestige, reputation, hype, history, marketing and "clubism". This particular case is a tremendous example of this fact. Besides, many watches are homages among themselves even if in a remote degree; Blancplain Fifty Fathoms and Rolex Submariner, for instance. Also, the funny part is that the much hated homage market barely scratches the "real deal": the niche of moneyed customers that pays many digits for the original pieces will continue to do so irrespectively if a thousand homages were sold in AliExpress the very same day.
