  • The Ultimate digital rig? - Valeton GP200. The Valeton GP200 is only £300 as is crammed with incredible features. It has 64 banks of 4 presets, so that's 256 presets in total! It's incredibly easy to adjust every element of each preset and the UI is extremely intuitive. We've use the Valteon GP200 live, and in several videos now and it has sounded amazing throughout.
Considering I really don't like this sort of thing, I can see myself using this whenever I leave the studio in future as it's so small and easy to get a great sound out of.

I’ve had one for a few months now and am generally pleased with it. One bit of advice if you buy one: before you start dialing in the EQ of various patches, switch off the cabinet modeler and just use your actual speaker cabinet. Then, switching through various amp models with the amp EQs set flat, adjust the global EQ so that it sounds good. Once that is done, then start using the various cabinet models and dial in the EQ using the amp or equalizer settings you want. The global EQ has MUCH more effect on the output than the other EQs so this puts yup in a good place before you get started. I didnt realize this and set up all kinds of different patches that all needed to be redone once the global EQ was set.

I bought one based on this video, I’ve had modellers and FRFR speakers before and never really gel’d with it so sold them. The GP-200 Sounds great in the return of my Marshall tube amp. Also works really well with the 4 cable method with a bit of adjustment with the Valeton’s send and return levels. Good stuff.

I got one. Had a big pedal board and half stack (peavey Windsor) and this thing is just great. I have abnormally wide feet, so I use a pedal switcher with a midi out (joyo pxl live), and use that for main switching, and then the third along the top row with a pedal button on , for clean/dirty within a patch. I use the Pete thorn SUHR IR and it’s just perfection. Can’t recommend it enough.

Like you, I use it Live straight into the PA its a brilliant little box of tricks and no need to lug big amps around anymore. You should share some of the presets you build. There is a big Valeton community/following out there who would love to see more on this. Great work.

Hiya, had my GP200 a year excellent value and performance, I use mine into 2 amps for the stereo wet/dry on stage and send the Xlr,s front of house for the PA mix. Note you can go into the Global settings to alter the EQ outputs Xlr,s etc.
Also though the quick access on the unit is very good, when you have the time to set it up for say a gig? connect your laptop to it, it is so much easier and you could program a whole set list into it, save all your set lists to your laptop then reload them in the future. Apart from my Les Paul best thing i vere got.
Note use the FX loop in it and put in your own pedals. Good luck izzy

For exercising it also has a drum computer build in, which is good for exercising with a metronome or drums. The price ist very competetive in Germany it costs 349,- Euro. The sounds have to be adjusted a little bit on my opinion. I just ordered one of these for personal use after recently setting up a Headrush MX5 for my church and trying to find something similar yet more budget-friendly.
I had a similar thought about the cab sim. I suspect that the reason he preferred the mic'd amp cab to the DI is that he may not have been using a cab sim or IR on the DI signal. At least that's what it sounded like to me.
I would imagine that if he was using a cab sim in the signal chain, it would have resulted in a cab into a cab, which I've heard is a bad idea. It probably wouldn't have sounded better mic'd than through the DI recording in that case.

when you turn the cab off in the chain you are disabling the IR. You can load in like 20 of your own IRs too which sound even better than the built in ones. Apparently you can also assign one output to have an IR and one without simultaneously, so you can run to an FRFR cab or amp/cab and into the desk at the same time. Disable the digital amp/cab when running through the amp. If not then you’re basically getting a preamp into a preamp and it will screw up the sound. Conversely, definitely experiment with the amp/cab options when running through the DI, it makes a world of tonal difference. Note: you can also try flattening the EQ on either preamp meaning put the Bass Treble and Middle at 12 o’clock. Remember that 12 o’clock eq is actually the true 0 position.

I bought one of these 10 days ago. I've written about 20 different patches already. All sound great. There's just one more thing I need to do but cannot figure out HOW to do it. I would like to assign the CTRL button as a volume Boost. Mind you, I need to keep the ability to use the 4 bottom buttons to select A, B, C, & D in any given bank. Any ideas?

I use the eg pedal as a volume boost. Then when you turn on the EQ, it gets louder

Also.. when it's switched back and forth.. do you have a cab loaded? Or an IR loaded on the board? Something sounds really off about this demo. They're not even close in sound. The 57 track sounds scooped and woofy.. the direct line sound really honky.. mid rangy in an unpleasant way.

You couldn't get a good sound out of the Helix? 😂, yes it takes some learning curve, but with dual cabs now and the latest updates, poly fxs I tried the cheapest ampero and temu "multi fx processor" freaking junk! Always go back to Helix it sounds the same weather I'm in my studio or in stage running FOH and 1/4 out to powered ffr and runs midi to my other pedals, I'll stick to what I know sounds good, and is supported by line 6 and the vast resources of Yamaha their not done with Helix yet I m not either,!
